Default May get an Omega juicer... thoughts?

I've put my champion up for sale on craigslist and I'm thinking of getting an Omega instead.

    http://www.greenhealthcanada.com/Omega_8003.html

I'd love to hear from anyone who's used both and what the differences are in your opinion.

I don't like that the Omega is white... but my Greenstar is white so I can deal with that.

I want a juicer that is faster than the Greenstar - that's why I have two juicers. One for when I have time to patiently make juice and another (the Champion in the past) when speed was a desired quality of my juice making experience.

So... is the Omega quicker like the Champion or slower like the Greenstar? From the videos I've seen it's seems quicker.

ive owned two now this past year . first one bought from bedbathbeyond because theyve 100% satisfaction guarantee .
i got the white one with new harder auger and my opinion was didnt like because it turns soft stuff into more of a sauce than a juice .
plus the white color started to stain very first batch of juice when some grease or decal glue wouldnt come off it . so after owning it two days i totally cleaned it up and returned . oh it also wouldnt tighten the ejection housing the auger turns in completely tight , it had a tiny bit of loosness to it .
i payed like #215 with bbb 20% off coupon

then a month ago streetsurfer member here posted a wild sale selling the chrome version for $130 including shipping direct from omega . well this chrome dont stain and the auger housing locks tight onto motor housing . and ive become cool with straining saucy juice of soft fruits because the slow speed of auger prevents juice from getting frothy making for best tasting juice ive ever had from all my juicers

buts its a slow juicer with a small feed tube so might not be appropriate for people that juice large volume and are pressed for time every day

but you can see their speed in kohlers videos where he compares every juicer vs every other juicer on youtube

bottom line is i like this chrome 8005 juicer , very powerful motor in a surprisingly compact housing . only draw back is 8005 has the folding handle and ide prefer permanent handle . but for alot less money than more costy one this has same motor . exact same motor says kohler whose toured omega plant in korea

and ive had a brand new commercial champion two years ago which i gave to my mother because it spins too fast for me , in the proccess frothing the juice which i hate . but a champion ide say is way faster than omega 8000 series . so to me buying and omega 8000 series when already have greenstar would be waste of money

so mr it sounds like the omega wouldn't be a good choice for me since i already have the greenstar. perhaps i'll keep my champion for quick juices and keep using the greenstar the rest of the time.

i read in a review of the omega that it doesn't do soft fruits well. i already have that issue with the greenstar (although with patience and a little experience i've been able to get it to juice anything i want). so having the champion to do the soft fruits quicker is a bonus.

thanks for you time with this mr. you know i love ya! (((hugs)))

i had one of those... it used a huge amount of produce compared to my champion and greenstar. it was a total hassle to clean.

i think, after watching the vids you suggested that i'll stick with what i have. the champion and the greenstar - they seem to be a good team.

    thanks mr!!!

I don't know if this will help Alessha - but I've always thought our Samson was a LOT like an Omega (I often wondered if they were made by the same folks - don't know though).

So, we've got the Samson (actually 2 of them as I found one at the thrift store for $6 and grabbed it!) and our Champion.

I use it as you do. Basically - - I use the Champion now for fruits and the Samson for veggies. The Champion is much faster than the Samson. The Samson doesn't do well with soft fruits or tomatoes.

Honestly? I'd really hate to let my Champion go no matter what other juicer I might have or buy. We've had our Champion since the early 80s and it's still like brand new - what a work horse! Personally, I'd keep it just for making ice cream, etc. if for nothing else. (But then, I have a hard time letting go of stuff, so what do I know? :)

hahahaha I have no problem releasing stuff - we live in such a small space - but I definitely want another juicer AND my greenstar. The greenstar is just too slow and difficult with some juices and if I'm in a hurry to get out of the condo in the morning... I need to juice faster than my lovely patient greenstar.

So ya, I'll do the same... keep my champion (which I love) and continue making amazing juice blends.

Thank you both for your time and input. I needed some clarity and knew I'd get it if I created a thread about it. (((hugs)))

I have the omega 8004. It is a pain to chop everything small. But I'm sure you already know of that issue with the greenstar. Also the omega won't juice soft fruit such as raspberries or ripe pears and sometimes apples if they get to the point to where they're pretty soft.

If I were to get another juicer I would like to try the omega vrt. It has a bigger opening, but still not large enough to stuff in a whole apple. I watched a video of it vs I think the greenstar, and it's quick at making juice. As far as it doing soft fruit....I dunno, but I'm sure John Kohler would know.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................

I don't really buy John's opinion to be honest. I watched him do a VS with the Omega and Greenstar. He used the Greenstar all wrong. He put a huge amount of kale through and then a huge amount of cucumbers and then apples. You don't juice like that. You'd do cucumber first and then kale and then cucumber, apple and kale and keep going in that way until you were done the cucumber. So saying it creates all this foam and doesn't do a good job is incorrect. If you use any appliance the wrong way it's not going to show a good performance.

Since all of John's are videos are about how great the Omega is... he is definitely on the side of Omega and not the side of 'unbiased opinion'.

Those are great models, if I'm in your position you was right it's really hard to decide.
