Thread: hunger?

    Default hunger?

I have a smoothie daily for breakfast and drink it throuhout the morning until lunch. I am raw for healthy and for weightloss. I really want to lose quickly and gain health asap so I was thinking about doing green juice for lunch and then heavy for dinner, such as avo, nuts, dehydrated things, etc.

What do green juices do for hunger? would I be surprised? If I'm in the process of drinking my smoothie, I'm satisfied, but about 20 minutes after it's gone, I'm hungry. right now, I'm chewing my lunch (vs a smoothie) but I wonder if green juices will satisfy me better than I'm thinking?

I dont have a juicer yet, i'm researching them and trying to decide which one i want. or if i even want one at all.whattya think?

sorry if I'm not making sense, I want to post this quickly before I make dinner for my family.

In my experience, juice doesn't make me full for a substantial amount of time. When I make juice it's generally around 6 cups of juice, and about 30 minutes or so after finishing it, I'm hungry.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................

    Patience....that nasty "P" word...lol...

A lot of times with the raw food lifestyle health and weight loss does not go together. The body will pick health before weight loss. That's why you will read stories on this forum and other forums/websites where some people will drop weight like crazy and others will not.

Health is so much more important than weight loss, so if you will be patient and let your body do what it needs to do by eating all raw and living foods then you will get to your ideal weight.

I know your question was about hunger...

According to Alissa Cohen you should eat when you are hungry...as long as it is raw.

For me, juicing is very satisfying and I feel great when I do. Hunger subsides if you are doing a juice feast/fast.

If you are just looking for a meal replacement then it probably won't keep you full for long as you will digest it very fast.

    gotcha- thanks!

I actually ate raw 2 years ago and lost 60 lbs in that 4 months, so I think I'll lose pretty fast. ;) lol

I pray that this is long term this time. I don't understand why I ever stopped- I was SO CLOSE! 30 more lbs and I would have been at goal- probably 3 more months. sigh. Oh well- I'm here now. Now I'm *TRYING* to make this more about health than last time. I have missed raw since I stopped- I gained all the weight back, my depression came back hardcore etc. I'm so so glad to be back...

I actually think I'll just put off juicing until further down teh line. baby steps.

Unless you are talking about a very short term cleanse (say a week), I don't think only a green juice drink for lunch is going to cut it. Your body needs more than that.....sounds like you know that though. Just take care of yourself:)
