    Default Taking out the negative

Sometimes finding positivity in our lives can be an exhausting process. One of the things I've started doing is "throwing away" the negative.

For me this was a scary undertaking.

By scary I mean I got rid of negative influences. Music, magazines etc and the hardest part was changing the radio station.

I'm a singer and I love to sing! Changing the Channel from the angry discord that I used to flood my ears with to something happy and encouraging was a huge step.

Cleaning out my play list for spotify that I listen to at work another major under taking.

It's all a process and here I am three months after I started weeding out the dark and angry and I honestly don't notice that I'm missing it anymore. AND I'm happier because of it.

What have you done in your life to encourage positivity?
    It's time to live.
    With love, Kit

I keep a daily appreciation list which I don't find "exhausting" at all - when one places attention on the positive things in life, they tend to seek and draw in more of the positive.

i love staying up to date with whats going on in the world which ... is very negative. Sometimes I get caught up in it and find i get a negative attitude. I recently subscribed to a positivity blog that sends me emails few times a month with some good tips.
Ive been trying to find a positivity podcast. Anyone know of any good ones I could listen to in the car or while folding laundry etc... ?

I am frequently called a negative Nancy, because I get so fixated on the negative.

RawSar - would you mind sharing a link to? I don't watch the news, but when I do watch television I find myself flicking to the mainstream news and getting upset. I also like to keep up with things in the world, but dislike it more, because it seems like all the main news outlets are ONLY focused on the negative or even things that are unimportant.

The whole point of the mainstream media is to make you afraid, sad, angry. It's not even worth watching because it's all scripted anyway. It never tells you what's really going on in the world, it either tells you irrelevant things designed to scare you ("Serial killer on the loose!!!!" "Woman stabbed and raped!!!" etc etc), or it tells you complete lies like all of this "nuclear threat" crap.

I haven't watched television in a LONG time. I never will again. I've got much more important things to do then watch the latest soap opera or football game, and so does everyone here. We all love fasting - try going on a "television fast" for the next 60 days and see how much more you get accomplished, and how much better you feel. It doesn't cost you anything, and if you get serious about it, it will even save you your cable subscription.

Solution to negativity - throw out the telly, cleanse, meditate, improve your diet (lots of sprout juice = 24/7 contentment and joy, but the best for happiness are sunflower greens, chia greens and wheatgrass). Read inspiring books, listen to inspiring things, and follow your heart instead of conforming to others' expectations. Committ reckless acts of kindness everyday; selflessness brings a level of joy the selfish person can only dream of.

Off the top of my head, one useful website is tut.com - you can sign up (free) and receive a different inspirational message each day. I'm sure there are plenty of similar websites too, if you look.

For those who want to keep up with what's going on in the world, find an alternative news site you can trust, and use that. Listening to the mainstream media is just a recipe for depression and disaster, + you're being lied to.

I'd recommend finding one that focuses on positive, uplifting stories and information over negative ones, and that actually tells you important things about what's going on...two things the mainstream media would rather die then do.
