Default Kitchen Aid as a juicer???

Hello all! Newbie here, so please be gentle. :-). I am considering using my kitchen Aid mixer as my juicer. Anyone ever use the masticating / strainer attachment to juice? Any help would be awesome! I'm looking forward to a more raw diet.

i haven't but you could use it to 'blend' it up and then strain it with a nut mylk bag or a paint strainer bag from a hardware store. both are pretty equal and the latter is much less expensive. (it's what i've used for over 4 years)

Aleesha, Thanks for the response! Do you think it would leave too much material in the juice even when using the auger and strainer attachments? I am attaching a pic of what im refering to. Not shown in this pic is part of the grinder attachment that the auger connects to, but you get the idea.

i have no idea. use it and see if it does. i would 'think' though that it wouldn't as i can see a strainer - that should sep the pulp from the juice!

Wow -- I have a kitchenaid and had no idea these attachments were even available!! I have a Breville juicer that's fine for lots of veggies but not so great on greens...... but the masticating juicer attachment might be better with greens though, wouldn't it?

Have you bought the attachment yet? Are you going to try it out?

Hey! No. I have not bought it yet. Idealy I'd like to buy a vertical masticating like an Omega or Hurma but they are a little expensive so I am seriously thinking of getting this KA attachment. It's 120$ so it's much less money than the fore mentioned appliances. I will let you all know what I decide and get as soon as I order or purchase it. Thanks!

Hello all! I trust your having a great weekend! I decided last Thursday and ended up purchasing a Hurom vertical masticating slow juicer. I picked it up a Williams Sonoma. I went there to get my boss one (I'm an estate manager) and I fell in love with it. So far I have juiced twice and it works great! I decided against the KA attachment basically because of the unknown. I really couldn't find any hard evidence that juicers were using it with success. I just didn't want to drop $120 on something I wasnt sure of.

Good thing you didn't get it. That kitchenaid strainer is for soft foods only. Says so right in the instructions. Berries, steamed apples, etc. it's awesome for making baby food. I use just the grinder for chewing up raw food. I just put a time lapse video of my son and me making apple cider with my homemade press on youtube... He's not into the vegetable juices I make. I'll get the link and be right back. I'm on my phone right now.

    Default Kitchenaid as a juicer

Found this info that might help you to use your Kitchenaid mixer as a juicer. Please let me know how it works because I want to buy a juicer but would prefer the mixer because it does so much more. Look forward to your feedback. Thanks
