Thank you for posting that article Raw Angel Mom. I tried to tell my family a year ago how addicting cooked food is and one family member tried to tell me his belief that it is just merely an emotional addiction to cooked food. BAH..... He just didn't get it.

IMO cooked food is a terribly addicting drug. It does horrible stuff to the body. And the worst part is knowing what it's doing to your body while you're eating it. That's a true addiction.....wanting to quit but struggling to do so.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................

    Hello,
Just wanted to share my experience here....
Thanks to all the great info and support here, I was all raw for 2 years. I really loved it.
I had MAJOR dental surgery in December and eating was a real problem so I added cooked soup. (my non raw son joked that it was the "gateway food/drug" back to cooked food. :)
Anyway since then I have added cooked sprouted rice and potatoes. I was nervous to do this and I gave this ALOT of thought.
My body has taken to the new cooked foods well.
I can see how these foods have an addictive quality over raw foods.
For now I am staying disciplined and making sure I get plenty of raw foods too.

But even organic cooked veggies would start off my food addictions..
I am the same. If I eat even steamed veggies then I will want it again in a few days time so I just do not go there.

I have learned something new about those cravings.

If we have a stagnant lymph, there are tiny parasite that live on the stagnant lymph and they will give you the unwanted craving.

I think, this could be true for me. I started today to take herbs and i found my craving being in control.

Most likely since that the veggies are steamed, they become a starch to some level. Starch will clog your body and those parasites would need you to eat that to survive.

    Hi Raw Angel Mom,
Please tell me about this tiny parasite. I think I have stagnent lypmh. My legs look so puffy and bloated. I tried a homemade body wrap last night to help. ( Epsom salt/water/saran wrap). They are still so puffy. I was wondering on how to get the lymph moving. I am taking parasite G by gods herbs. I hope this will work. Any other ideas.

Almost everyone has stagnant lymph to some degree or another; one of the best ways to move the lymph fluid is rebounding for at least 20 minutes/day, and dry brushing is also very effective. Throw in some cardio and walk for at least 1 hour/day (continously) and you'll start to get the lymph moving even without using any expensive herbs or supplements.

I am taking parasite G by gods herbs.
It's best to do a colon cleanse before doing parasite cleanses, otherwise the die-off could get unpleasant. You might also want to take a liver support formula during this time because the burden of detoxifying and removing those dead parasites will fall on the liver.

Agreed with rebounding. I am taking herbs that he formulate for kidney/bladder, lymph (unclog the lymph fluid and lymph node), glandular, nervous system and parasite M (has to be taken a long time apparently until you know your lymph is ok).

Drink only water when you are thirsty this can lead to emphysema when you have acidity and the lymph is clogged. If i was you, i would use the fruit to hydrate for now.

If you add parsley in your smoothie, it cleanse the kidney. Dandelion(liver/kidney) and plantain are great too.

I did a water fast and my first 7 days water fast, i had the big parasite that came out but the little one can be anywhere in your body. Since i have intense food craving, i suspect that i have the little one.

Grape are great but they aren't in season (organic), so i am engorging on blueberries instead.

I'm actually going to disagree with that...water is very important for flushing toxins out of your body and has many other vital functions (just make sure it's not tap water). Drinking lots of water is even more important when you are acidic, because you are in desperate need of detoxifying. Fruit is mostly water, but getting water from food is nowhere near as effective as actually drinking water. Many people suffer from mild dehydration, which can lead to many chronic health problems - not something to take lightly.

I agree with everything else you said :)

I invite you to contact dr. Morse on this regard. He has helped thousands and thousands of people and he warns people to drink when you are thirsty. I used to think also that you needed to drink a lot of water and it is true that it flushes the toxin but you can end up with swallow leg if your body isn't ready for this. If you personally don't have this problem, then there isn't any need for you to change what you are doing. I don't know exactly in details why the body will retain the water and won't retain it when you get the water from food. Perhaps coconut water would be safer. Anyway, if you contact dr. Morse or simply research in his youtube, you will know more in detail. What he said make perfect sense. He recommends to drink when you are thristy and to hydrate your body with fruits.

I am doing tons of fruits now mostly watermelon. I haven't been thirsty so I havent been drinking much water. I have been sprouting and eating those in smoothies and milks.

I made some kale chips and seasame cookies. do you think I should leave these out and just have 100% juicy fruits for the next 2 weeks or so. Water fasting I cannot do. I can barely do a 24 hour juice fast right now. I start feeling so down in the dumps and just aweful.

You will be the only one to know what is right. If you have the desire more then anything else to heal then yes, go with 100% whole fruits (i wouldn't juice them except for hard fruits such apple or citrus). Grape would be too purging if you juice it.

If this is challenging for you to go cold turkey like this, then add green juice at night and your sprouts.

If you miss the comfort of food and it is making overwhelming, then have your snack, but i would wait at the very least after lunch.

Watermelon is also very purging and hang in there, your body will normalize.

Since you seem to detox very speedo, you may want to do the vegetable to cool down. Do also a smoothie with parsley or any herbs or juice it.

I love juicing together 3 grapefruit with a pack of parsley or water crest. It is yummy to me but it may not be appealing to you. You could add an apple to make it more appealing.

You are doing so wonderful, see, feel and visualize this beautiful body already healed, full of vitality and joy.

The power of the mind, has no limitation.

    All is well.

p.s Enema or colonic, would help greatly with the detox symptom.

eh. ADDICTIVE sounds like such a bad word. Maybe certains things in life need to create dependency? To reproduce and not starve, we're addicted to certain things :)

It seems as cooked food is seen as SUCH a villain. Processed foods and added artificial ingredients- that's understandable. Deep-fried stuff creating heterocyclic amines and such- understandable. But boiled, steamed, or even baked foods? You've been eating them your whole life, maybe addiction is not really ADDICTION, maybe it's just years of habit, memories, and emotions? :)

I am reading a book right now that has this premise:

Food energetics : the spiritual, emotional, and nutritional power of what we eat by Steve Gagne. I'm just on the sixth chapter but its fascinating.

About the word addictive for cook food.

I am not an expert without question but i do have experience with food as so many of us do. If you step back and observe your body, your reaction, etc... you will learn for yourself.

I tend to over eat and i don't feel satisfy at all when i make exception with cook food that is even consider healthy such steam vegetables etc.... With 100% raw food, i am the one in control and not my emotion. For myself, i did learn, not to go into guilt because it gives power to my addiction but not to denial either that this isn't the ideal choice for me. Someone who desire to be free from over eating and aim for perfect health, should restrain from any exception especially if they know as i know for me that it will be very challenging to resume to 100% raw. I made exception lately again and trust me, it isn't easy for me to get back on track.

On the other hand, someone that want to eat better and their diet is very toxic such process, using food with dangerous preservative or substance, eating a lot of junk food and no much fresh food etc.... then and only then, it is a great idea to start with steam vegetables to help them to transition, but again everyone is different and other will be able to do 100% raw food and doing Alissa's recipes will be much easier for them.

I am not against eating steam vegetable or anything that anyone wish because, this isn't my business but as i share my experience, i know without a doubt that making exception even with steam vegetable is a big NO for me, if i do, i must just embrace the challenge that will come to me.

    All the best!
    Blessings and love
