Let's be honest about cook food drug effect
For the one of you, that find themselves having cook food once in a while such steam vegetables, you may want to read this article. I find it very informative.
http://ajp619.wordpress.com/2009/11/...world-part-ii/
I am trying to research what cook food contain to make it as a drug effect. Even simple steam vegetable will lead to make exception all the time.
If someone has good link or articles to recommend, please share.
It seems that you need to accept that cook food is a drug and you cannot make an exception period.
Enjoy!

cooked food is like a drug
I totally agree.... that's why it's so hard to quit.

That was a good article but I really think they are talking about processed food with added sugar, salt and fats for the most part. I did not get that, say lightly steamed veggies, were the addictive thing they were speaking of. I guess I am having a crisis of faith. I'm just not sure you need to be 100% to reap all the benefits if your non raw choices are healthy. I would like to hear others ideas on this topic. It was a good article.

The article didn't say anything about steamed vegetables, just processed foods. I highly doubt that steamed veggies are addictive.

100% gives you the maximum benefit, obviously, but any amount is better then 0%. Strive for 100% but do the best you can.

Yes, it is true, it didn't say about the steam vegetables. I did read someone else experience and she was mentioning about steam vegetable. I WAS talking about me. I experienced it also. What made me a solid foot in the raw food is that i focus on my accomplishment. Otherwise i would have gone back to cook food.
So i wonder, what is the substance in cook food that make me sensitive and others. Cook food in any form seems to be a poison to my body just as the coffee was.
No doubt in my mind that 100% raw pure food is the way.
I am in a place now that i know for me that making exception with even steam vegetable will lead me to crave for cook food. I know many don't have this issue and they are discipline, but for me, i experienced it the same as coffee. Once i understood that i could never again make exception with coffee, i was ok to make that decision and stay away.

I'm put off that article by it's being called "Cooked Food: Most Addicting Drug in the World" I feel it should really be "addictive" in that context.
It's not technically incorrect but it just bothers me right away. It sounds obviously wrong to me.

It is an article and of course it needs to be research. I try to discern when i read anything and take only what resonate with me. I agree the title could be exaggerated or true, i do not know but i know what i experienced for myself. I never did drug so i cannot compare with this.
I do wonder the degree of addiction of cook food though, and which degree it cans be. Without question the food that is packed with substance with chemical such MSG or aspartame will be dangerously addictive. But i wonder why the simple organic cook food did the same for me and seem to do for others. If i eat even steam vegetable, i will make more exception. So i have to conclude for myself that i have to stay away from it, in order to eat for my body's need versus pleasure.

Raw Angel Mom... I am the same way. I always wanted to be able to be "high" raw once in a while. Like for a holiday or someones birthday, etc. We are a vegan family anyways and would not eat the unhealthy vegan, but organic, non processed, no sugar, etc, vegan. But even organic cooked veggies would start off my food addictions..
We do NOT need to discuss why this is wrong or right. We are here to encourage and support eachother...People are different and respond differently to foods. I think if anything, this is why Alissa says its best to be 100% raw, and I agree.. For whatever reason, there are people out there that can't have even a little "healthy" cooked food without it taking them down a long road of eating cooked for before they can get back on track.
I have smoked in the past (over 16 years ago now), and I would never pick up a cig. again because I know how addicting they were for me. I'm realizing that ever cooked organic veggies do the same thing to me. Once I eat them, I start craving more and more of the cooked for and less of the raw. So I need to stay away from the cooked food.
This is just MY experience and its neither right nor wrong. It is what it is. My experience.

Thank you Cathy for sharing, so i see we are in the same boat as regard with cook vegan food.
I don't want either to discuss what is wrong or right and i truly support each other. I posted this to bring up an awareness because it took me 4 years to make this conclusion and accept that i cannot make exception, i am hoping to assist other by posting this to save a few years of attempt. I surely support someone making exception in a healthy way to help them to stick in this journey of live food.
I will change my title to make it more on the topic.
All the best!
p.s I couldn't change the title, so sorry.

So it seems like I turn to cooked foods when something stressful happens. Once I eat the first cooked thing then it gets worse and worse until I have to do a fast to break the "habit".
I wonder what I can do when something stressful happens to help me get through instead of eating cooked foods??? hummmmm.....

My plan is: Discipline and feeling my emotions versus trying to suppress them. Taking deep breath and refuse to eat anything when i am not at peace. I will drink water instead. Reminding myself that i cannot make exception and i will feel my emotions instead. Going in nature every day and hug my tree, lol..... Yes, i love trees.
If i was you, i would make sure to have something very gourmet near by to help as emergency. You can search for a raw sprouted snack. I tasted one before my fasting and it was divine. I will post more information. Chocolate is known to help with depression so maybe i could be something to look at for stress. I personally don't like chocolate but i noticed in the past i was aiming for it when i was very stress out, now i will just feel my emotions.
Romaine lettuce is a relaxant apparently, you will have to research for this. I will start juicing and add romaine lettuce at night.
Hugs to you and i so understand.

Thanks Raw Angel Mom.. I do need to just let myself feel my emotions. I need to learn that the "stress" will pass and that life will go on. And that by eating something I shouldn't, only makes the initial stress worse, not better.
I too love nature. Its very comforting to me as well. Last week when I had a few very stressful days in a row and then we had to put our beloved kitty to sleep, I should have just taken some time to breath and except what had happened. Instead, I pushed forward to went grocery shopping. I ended up eating some cooked food and then I actually hit a car when I was parking. I have never hit another car in over 20 years! I need to listen better to my body and learn to stop, breath, and except, and not try to just "push" through the hard stuff.
Thank you,
Cathy

I am so sorry about the cat.
I can understand how intense it was. Good grace, this is very challenging. I have three cats.
