Default Can one really eat too many fats?

I think raw is caveman/girl style. The wonderful bounty of food the world has provided us is meant to be eaten. Our bodies know what they want. So If I eat, a lot of natural raw fats, is that bad? Avocado is like candy and the raw nut raspberry cheesecake I made is just so right!

I am really craving proteins, which Is why I may crave...you know.

I was eating bushes bakes beans like candy, and a forbidden food! To think of that! When the average teenager is scorned for eating too many pastries, here I am scorning myself for eating baked beans!

Maybe it's my transition phase? I dunno, but being a lil baby raw raw, my body wants what it wants and only science shall prove it Rawg (wrong! hahaha).

I'm curious what "craving protein" means... how do you know it's protein your body wants? (I'm thinking here, you mean meat which seems to have been changed to the word "protein" even though it's the most ineffeicient way of receiving protein.) Maybe it's craving NUTRIENTS and amino acids are among them. For that, get to drinking green smoothies (smoozies)... Smoozies are filling, satisfy a variety of nutrient needs and assist in eliminating cravings.

Enjoy whatever "fats" you are eating. When I first went raw about 15+ years ago there were no books, no forums, no one telling me I "shouldn't" eat this or that (well, they're here but I've never really listened).... As you continue on your journey, you'll find your desires for certain foods will abate and, you'll move on to something else. No worries! Enjoy!

Many things are high in amino acids (proteins if that's what you want to call it). Chia seeds are great as well as amaranth, lentils and quinoa. Most raw foods do have at least some amino acids and it's a myth you need lots of protein. Most people get way more protein than their body needs and that causes all sorts of medical problems.

If I can find the link, I had a really great one that talks about protein that would be really good for you to read as some one new. I'll look! :)

About your question of eating too much fat? I can only answer for myself and my answer for my body is yes. I've had my gallbladder removed and my thyroid killed (so sluggish metabolism) and if I overeat on fat I will gain weight. So - I just watch my fat intake and I do pretty darned good overall, weight wise.

I had to laugh at your reference " lil baby raw raw " hahaha - cute!!

    Here's a couple helpful links.

How much protein do we need?

Towards the bottom of the Complete Proteins page there is a list of foods that have all 8 essential amino acids.

At the bottom of both pages are links to the rest of the protein subject if you're interested in more information. :)

Well I thought some bean sprouts were toxic but according to this site they may not be after all. I need to check out this information more closely but thought others might be interested too. :)

Most beans shouldn't be eaten raw (even sprouted), but mung beans and adzuki beans can be eaten raw. There may be more also, but those are the ones that I know for sure are safe.

Maybe, maybe not...just eat what you are craving - as long as it's raw and healthy. I personally eat quite a bit of fat every day, and I'm doing great.

I was eating bushes bakes beans like candy, and a forbidden food! To think of that! When the average teenager is scorned for eating too many pastries, here I am scorning myself for eating baked beans!
Try replacing them with bean sprouts instead...far better for you.

I was talking about proteins because she said she was craving proteins. I wanted to provide links to vegan based proteins so she didn't feel she needed to eat that which should never be mentioned on this forum. LOL

I don't know a lot about fats. I know there is a lot of controversy around high fat or low fat raw so I didn't feel I should get into that part. Though Alissa says not to worry about fats at first. Your tastes will more than likely change to less fat as you become more raw and more detoxed. Taste buds change after you get away from all the bad food for a while.

I know what you're responding to Sunshine yet... for the OP (whom we've not seen since the question was posted):

What you're saying is she WANTS animal products.... Please, stop calling it protein. Protein is really different than animal products. As Alissa says, if animal products really provided protein, then why do athletes need/want so much of it? There are fats in animal products which is very often what people are craving, not the so-called protein. For some reason people WANT to cling to the notion that animal products are a big supplier of protein when in fact, it's the hardest to break down and digest.

I'm so sorry! I do mean I am craving animal products, and my body just be craving what they are composed of, which are amino acids! And my baked beans cravings are completely from by body wanting carbohydrates!

Inaccurate. Animal products are made of a lot of other things than amino acids. The meat/dairy industry is using this word ~ protein ~ to deter vegetarians and vegans from eating truly healthy. The question from animal product eaters is always ~ "Where do you get your protein?", so, the marketers have jumped on that and begun calling animal products protein and, as I stated, it is THE most ineficient way of obtaining protein as it has to be broken down by the body first into amino acids whereas plants do not! The amino acids are readily available to our bodies. You may be craving iron!

Most of what raw vegans eat are carbohydrates so, to think that's ALL you are craving by eating beans is again, an inaccuracy. Beans contain many nutrients... they are of the carbohydrate family yet, it's the nutrients you want to examine, not the family.
