    Red face RawProtein & Satiety?

    hellooo!!!

So the other day I learned about the theory of overeating that states a human body needs a certain amount of protein to get "full" and stop craving food.

Overall, I noticed myself overeating a looot on raw. or just eating larger amounts to get full..But honestly, to me it always felt as if eating FAT satiates me. E.g. avocados, olives, coconut, nuts... I notice nuts are filling- they also have decent amounts of protein. hm.

What makes you feel FULL/SATIATED? do you think it's the protein or the fat in your food? or BOTH?

    Greens.
If I do not have enough greens I will not feel satisfied. I will never think "I want greens" but I will know that I want something and will end up taking extra fat and extra protein when really it is extra minerals that I want.

It seems to vary. Tomato salad with onion with a herby dressing is pretty much infallible for me :)

I don't think protein is an issue. Plants have lots of protein but they don't have many calories. So you could get tons of protein from eating a salad but it might not satisfy you.

Sometimes I'll have a big salad for dinner and then still be a little hungry an hour or two later, so then I might eat a little fruit in the evening: an apple, 1-2 small bananas, and maybe something like a bit of grapes or tangerines. It hits the spot.

I'd rather eat vegan and look like a tree than eat cow and look like a pig.

I actually read about this whole protein idea from an article talking about obesity and comparing carb-rich foods to those with more protein. I think their hypothesis was that a human body seeks protein specifically, thus doesn't get satiated with a meal with a very low protein content, while still having plenty of calories.

    Thanks for the replies btw

when you read articles which are talking about a cooked food diet it's totally different than raw foods.

it's like saying oranges and trampolines are the same thing. they just aren't.

not too much peer-reviewed literature on raw foodism quite yet unfortunately. Working on it, though ;)
