Default Help with juicing leafy greens!!!

    Hello all -

I recently purchased a LaLaine juicer (that I love) and I've been using it frequently, but I find that I have trouble when trying to juice leafy greens... the spinach and kale seems to fly into the excess pulp bin before all of the juice is extracted. I was wondering if anyone has any hints/tips/tricks for a beginner that would help be maximize my juice and minimize my pulp!

    Thanks so much!!

I'm not familiar with the workings of the Lalanne but is it a centrifugal juicer? Greens work best in a masticating juicer.

If you roll the greens up into a cigar shape and try that you might have better luck but better still get a masticating juicer for the greens.

so would you say a hand cranked single auger and a decent centrifugal are both good investments?

roll them up push them down with a hard fruit of veggie. Most greens don't give you much, I find the big leaves of kale and swiss chard juice pretty good. I use celery as my pushers. I have a centrifugal juicer and it works just fine. All of us are not fortunate enough to have a mascicating juicer yet.

You're not going to get much from a JL juicer. As was said, masticating type is better for juicing greens. Other tips... as was said, roll 'em up tight and/or, use something hard such as carrots or beets to push 'em through.
