Default Questions about raising raw kids...

    Hello everyone!
I want my kids to eat mostly raw, but I'm a little worried, since I don't know enough.
Are there some things I should make sure they eat every day? Like sprouts for protein for instance.
They don't drink much green juice or smoothies, especially my little one who is only two. My 5 year old doesn't like them much either, but she 'll drink some because it's good for her.
Please give me some ideas of how to start, what to feed them, how much etc, I'm feeling a little lost...
    Maybe recommend a good book.

Fruits. Make sure they eat their fruits every day. They need the sugar and all the great amino acid they can offer.

Doesn't have to be everyday but make sure they do have it in their diet at some point:

A source of Omega 3/6 such as hemp seeds (just add some in a fruit smoothie).
A source of Iron such as goji berries.
A source of Calcium such as sesame seed. Hemp seeds has also calcium.
As much different color of food to make sure to cover all the nutrients.

Children are young and they are more in tune with their body, they will tell you what they need or crave.

We are so program that we need a portion of this and that but in truth our body is the one to tell us.

You can get the book "Rawsome by Brigitt Mars" It is well done and tells you which food is rich of certain nutrients.

    All the best

My kids favorite Orange juice is blended with spinach. It tastes like orange juice but its green. Maybe it could be St. Pattys day fun. Come up with green concoctions for them to try. My kids aren't raw but they eat tons of raw fruits and veggies. Sometimes we have fruit dinners I make the plate look so good with all of the colors they love it. They are 9 and 3. They like to juice my daughter thinks if she drinks carrot juice everyday she will turn orange. She is trying very hard.

Hi, I'm a single dad, and I want my son to indulge on raw food. I think it's a lot healthier than letting him eat whatever he wants. Sometimes, you need to watch what you child eats. I've been looking for different vegan recipes I could make for him. I'd like to try cooking vegan dishes and making smoothies with herbs too. I know it's a girl thing but, bah, who cares. I only want the best for my son! (:

Definitely not just a girl thing. Good for you for having the desire to do so. Go for it.

Manly men can eat healthy and uncook too. Generally the majority here do not cook their food dishes. If we do we abstain from discussing that here as it is a site set up for Raw Vegans, and that is part of the rules set forth by the site owner that we all do our best to follow.

I myself am not big on constructing raw dishes from fancy or complicated recipes. I do enjoy and benefit from juicing, smoothies, sprouting, eating whole produce, dehydrating whole foods, and making simpler raw dishes. Some of the ladies, and I suppose the men here as well make some really great looking raw dishes from Alissa's books. If you want recipes, you have come to a very good source for gobs of them.

Happy journey! Welcome aboard. Feel free to make an introductory post by creating your own thread and include information about being a single dad wanting healthy kids through raw foods. You will likely get a much better response and even more help.

Reminds me of Rip Esselstyn in the film Forks Over Knives when he shows his vegan strength by climbing up the fire pole to the 2nd floor using only his hands and chanting "REAL - MEN - EAT - PLANTS!".
I'd rather eat vegan and look like a tree than eat cow and look like a pig.

Bravo to you! Your children will cherish those memories. When you take the time to make meal for your children it will translate to them as adult, into love and deep caring. I surely cherish those memories of my father when he would take the time to make our meal.

Keep it simple and let your creativity kick in. I had no talent in term of creativity but trust me, i feel now like a chef, lol.... You will find a way and believe in you.
