=d hey you nutty,fruity,veggies!
HELLO ALL! I'm DEEDEE!
I've been planning on going raw for over a year but I got caught up in every excuse there is until recently. Basically? I'm sick of being sick of being sick and staying sick! I'm so sick of not knowing what the heck I'm putting in my body or WORSE knowing what I'm putting in my body, and still eating it! I'm sick of being a slave to my addiction to food and I'm sick of not living to my full potential. I want to feel good mentally, physically, and psychologically. I know I can do that RAW.
I'm saving right now for a juice feast for my Raw transition. I have been incorporating more raw fruits and vegetables into my current meals and am feeling G R E A T! It has made me want to go all the way...well most of the way. I know myself and my goal is not to overload myself and set myself up for failure (which I have done in the past).
In the past I have been vegetarian and L O V E D it! But I was still consuming so much processed food. Seaweed chips, veggie burgers, pita bread, overprocessed humus. I mean I was still a food addict! I want to be addicted to food that will make my body feel A M A Z I N G and W O N D E R F UL! I want to go "Oh lala" on the inside whenever I wake up! (Did that sound dirty? lol!)
I'm so glad that I found this site! It's important to have positive influences in your life and eveyone here is freaking awesome! Yes, I have been lerking a little bit lol! ANYWAYS I look forward to meeting great mentors, people shining bright lights, and great friends here!

Hi DeeDee and welcome!
Sounds like you're already off to a great start! I transitioned with a juice feast too and really loved just jumping in that way. However I do wish I had done what you're doing and gradually built up the amount of raw food I was eating before starting the fast! Hahahahhaa oh well, live and learn.
Anyhow welcome again!

HELLO BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you so much for the welcome! I'm glad to know that it has a great potential to work woohoo! Yah I figured it would be easier for me. How do you feel the juice feast benefited you most? I'm so excited to start mine! This waiting and trying to save is annoying, but essential. I'm not even going to get insurance before I do my jf! lol! Well maybe I will be blessed, but I need to invest in my health! It's so important!
How long have you been Raw? =o

Welcome CaliSunshine! I'm a Valley boy here. Been in Los Angeles for almost two years and I love it!
I had been vegan for seven years, but still eating all the highly-processed vegan foods, like imitation meat products, BREAD, pasta, and a lot of junk. I went raw overnight and I think you are smart to make it gradual. It does set yourself up for diapointment. I have made a few slips here and there, but overall I try to just move on from them, and keep going! I've been 90% raw for almost a month now and loving it! Good luck on your journey to perfect health!

Hi Mickey!
CALI IN THE HOUSE!!! Let me know if there are any meet ups. I'm only about an hour and a half away!
SEVEN FREAKIN YEARS!!! That is amazing!!! I've always heard about vegan and I thought it was "soooooooo extreme" because I was totally ignorant of it. I have friends that are Vegan. I read this book called Skinny Bitch by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin and it completey rocked my world!!! But Yah, the processed veggie/vegan friendly products are still no bueno 'cause you end up eating them way too much. In a sense you're still eating a ton of fatty processed foods! Bwahaha, moderation is what I'm trying to work for. The same goes for raw too 'cause I tell you I've seen some recipes that are like NOMNOMMY, but I know it should be an occasional thing.
To go raw cold turkey and still be keeping up with it a month later is awesome!!! I'm so proud of you!!! We all have our slip ups, but you're still doing great! You have inspired me to keep moving forward! This is what I need in my life! Positive and forward moving/thinking people! =D Thankyou so much for the luck! I say the same to you! Stay on the course!

Oh I loved Skinny Bitch hahahahhaa!
I decided to go vegan after reading it.... to be honest, I found it MUCH easier to go raw than to go vegan. In fact, I originally started my juice fast to try and cure myself of the UNENDING dairy cravings I was having after switching to vegan.
I had never been raw before the juice fast so it was a real eye-opener. How it benefitted me most was introducing me to the world of raw foods, so after I did the fast I just stayed raw because I liked the way it made me feel. That was last August, so it's been about 7 months. I definitely have slips here and there -- mostly when out socializing -- but it's no big deal, over time it just becomes your way of life and not something you have to "stick to." If you slip up, forgive yourself and move on!
Pretty much everything improves on raw! You lose weight, your skin becomes amazing, your teeth get whiter and stronger.... there's tons of work going on inside your body too, it's really a journey as things continue to improve and repair over time.
Anyhow, welcome and enjoy -- this is a great place for support!
