Thread: Chocolate Dates

  1. #1

    Default Chocolate Dates

    It's super simple!

Put a few cups room temperature date peices in the food processor (I store mine in the fridge and the cold hardens them to the point where they won't process so I always have to let them warm up).

Add a small spoon of coconut oil and a few drops of vanilla extract and process to cover the dates.

Add a spoon of chocolate/carob powder and process again.

The date pieces will be about half the size they were when they started out (and lot's of smaller pieces too).

You could process all the way to a sticky ball but that puts a strain on the food processor and I like eating the chocolate coated dates.

I made a batch of these this afternoon and they dissapeared before I got any!

Sounds pretty darn good.... so good in fact, that I saw something similar earlier today, and then went and bought a bag of dates at Costco. :)

That sounds good. I'm gonna go make some if I have some cacao left.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................

    Yup. It's delicious.

It gave me an idea to try to make a crust with it and make chocolate banana pie.

So tonight I made the recipe again. Took half of it and put it in the fridge to save for later. Then left the other half in the food processor, added a little water and kept whizzing it up until it became a sauce. Now I'm dipping banana's in the sauce.

    It's amazing.

Thanks for sharing but just surprising that the taste was bit bitter, when I tried it.
What are the precautions for the next try? :)

Maybe try to add less cacao/carob and or add more dates. That should make it sweeter.
