converting to raw and throwing away old cooking equipmen or food
I wonder what people did when they went to raw. Did you purchase expensive cooking equipment and now you wish you didn't? How much stuff (food or equipment) did you throw away? Did your neighbors think you where doing some home improvement project because of the trash bags but you were getting rid of stuff? Or did you stored in another place your old cooking things? Do you feel you lost money by going raw?

Nothing is ever wasted here. There is never the option of throwing things in the dustbin just because I don't use them anymore and there is no reason why anyone else should do likewise.
Freecyclers, charity shops and friends can almost always make use of pretty much anything. You lose money all the time if you are the type of person that throws good stuff in the trash but you don't have to go raw to be that type of person. In fact if you go raw you are more likely to be a more giving, sensible person I would imagine.

I wish I could have gotten rid of all that cooking equipment but with my meat & potatoe lovin' teens, kids, and hubby in house, they wouldn't have it :). Also, I kept the cooking pans and all, because we have guests over frequently whom I cook for (however I always try to throw those raw dishes in ;) One of the first pieces of raw equipment I bought was a Vitamix. I've used it almost every day for the past year. I don't regret it one bit. Not to say you have to buy one, but when it comes to raw equipment, its been my best investment so far. I also bought an excalibur dehydrator but find myself using it less and less. Blessings!

ive seen 100 raw foodist say they bought all the toys and ended up only using blender

I haven't thrown anything away because I still cook for family.
The equipment I've bought I consider to be worth their weight in gold: a juicer, a spiralizer, a citrus juicer and a dehydrator. These were purchased over a period of six months. I bought the juicer the day I started raw because I started with a month-long juice fast! The spiralizer I got soon after ending the fast and I consider it to be essential! I love my veggie noodles and use it all the time.
I just recently bought the dehydrator and am really enjoying having flax crackers as a regular part of my diet and also I use it for occasional snacks -- mostly eggplant jerky and kale chips. I think it's easy to over-do the gourmet dehydrator recipes, though. I've made the onion bread recipe and eaten the whole thing in a day!!!! Same with the nut-based veggie burgers....... they're SO DELICIOUS, I couldn't stop eating them!
I don't feel I've wasted one penny on this equipment or on going raw. This spring I'm getting a Vitamix. I'm looking forward to it, but not in any huge hurry, my old blender's doing fine for now. I feel gradual change is best.
There's still lots of superfoods I haven't tried yet -- never had a goji berry or raw cacao or hemp seeds, lots of stuff like that. There's time for all that! So far I've incorporated coconut oil and spirulina into my diet though, they rock! I look forward to discovering more stuff as the months go by.
Anyhow, now I'm just rambling, probably more of an answer than you were looking for hahahhhaa!
Good luck on your journey

and i only use a juicer to fast , if i didnt fast wouldnt care about a juicer

Thanks for the answers. Love the extra information. I wonder if people would throw away stuff to force themselves to only eat raw. You know, out of sight out of mind. It would be kind of a self disciplinary action to force themselves.

i did that , gave away toaster - crock pot - coffee maker . but i cheated on coffee anyway

if wanted to try dehydrating cheaply people make dehydrators with light bulbs as heating elements , heres link :

I read about a guy who had the stove removed from his kitchen when he went raw.
Are you going to make yourself a dehydrator, MR? Those flax crackers are SOOOOOO good! Plus it's a great way to re-use all that pulp that's leftover from juicing, it's really great in crackers! Some people also use the pulp and make dehydrater veggie patties out of 'em..... DEFINITELY trying that after this fast, I've been collecting all my pulp and freezing it!

It wouldn't work I don't think. They'd end up buying it again if they couldn't stay raw.
It concerns me that you keep on saying "throw away". There is no need to throw away good, functional things. There is always someone who can make good use of things you don't want any more.

im mulling over my options now . if i buy its going to be an all metal type like they sell at outdoorsman stores to hunters because i dont like plastic
but thing is thatll be about 250 and still wont be big enough because i want to dehy huge amounts crackers / breads , and more very huge amounts
of vegi like tomatoes from my garden as i could live on dehy tomatos . im talking about building a box out of sheet metal like used in furnace duct work
like 3' wide 2' deep 4' tall . and putting a few light bulbs in bottom and a fan outside it blowing through vent holes . so once my tomato crop starts
coming in im drying huge amounts . then i want to start making a savory trail mix of dried tomato - sun seed - dry mushrooms - dry onions - dry peppers - dry string bean - etc
and see how that tastes because it sounds GREAT to me

not that ive investigated these steel dehydrators enough yet to have opinion on brand , but heres type im talking about without knowing if this particular brands is good or not :

Well, I don't know over there but here people collect and hoard stuff and sometimes rooms or garages are full of things. One a room is full of things you don't use it no more maybe for 15 years. Giving away things works. Thanks.

Just saying, be careful if you're planning on eating a lot of dehydrated trail mix........ it sounds DELISH, but you have to be careful not to eat too much. Even just having the flax crackers once or twice a day, I feel it!
