    Default Which deficiency?

I've finnaaaally got into the habit of having green smoothies for breakfast and even looking forward to them. This evevening, however, I ate a ton of calories in the form of medjool dates with raw almond butter (15 dates?) and chia seed crackers (broccoli, leek, chia seeds and water dehydrated). Is this a problem of turning to heavy food for comfort or am I am deficient in some kind of mineral/vitamin? The past couple of days, my eating has been great--green smoothies until dinner, salad for dinner and fruit several hours after dinner. I feel so full and content, but may opt out of stepping on the scale tomorrow.

since you don't say what you have been eating generally and you don't relate mood or stressors etc it's hard to tell.

Good for you!...regarding the green smoothies...

You could have a deficiency, but I wouldn't come to that conclusion after just one meal.

Also, I wouldn't consider what you ate as turning to "comfort" food after just one meal either.

You ate raw and that's GREAT!!!

Keep a food journal as that will be the easiest way to see if you have any patterns in your eating.

A green smoothie until dinner (1.5-2 bananas, a bunch of spinach, 2 tangerines, 1 pear, 1/2 cup pineapple, 1tbs agave and lots of water). Dinner consists of a salad (greens/avocado/carrot or greens/celery/pear/blueberries). ~2 cups Fruit (grapes/cherries/blackberries/blueberries later in the evening). ~20almonds/2 walnuts per day.

you have a very narrow intake of foods and I would also suggest that you are eating too little.

Up the intake and broaden the variety of foods you eat. Adding sprouted seeds might be helpful to you too

From what you say you're eating as "comfort food" it sounds as though you're not getting enough fat on a regular basis. People have this tendency to not eat fats for fear of becoming fat yet, it's needed to assimilate fat-soluable vitamins. Also, as MT said, you're possibly not eating enough and your body just wants more food!
