ok time out , just tried juicing tomatos with it and doesnt work good , the juice comes up over top of the crusher / piston and creates a mess of spillage when disassembling for clean up . plus it needs some type of screen at the exit port to chop up tomatoes as without they just become semi smashed tomatos . back to the drawing board . this thing is a very well made sturdy peice of equipment buts not made to handle liquids

That's too bad. I was really hoping that would work. It sounded like it would have.

I watched John do almond milk with the omega vrt, it looked really thick and creamy. And I wanted some. LOL. He was comparing the vrt to the horizontal version. The horizontal one made the milk, but it definitely looked thinner.

    So many choices.

I think buying a juicer is like buying a new computer. Decide why you need it and how you intend to use it. Get the specs you want and then after you buy it....don't look back. A week after you buy, it will be on sale because there is something better and cooler.

With all of the amazing raw vegan innovations, how come no one has figured out how to grow money on trees? Surely it is as simple as a special fertilizer??

watch what john says about the screens in the vert , the plastic one cracks . i got on to this after relooking over the vert tonite at bedbathbeyond , i took it apart and saw all the parts inside the screen housing and im not sold on its longevity concerning several of its parts . its a bit of a complicated design and has a few chincy small parts i dont like . between that and over the years seeing thousands love there omega 8000 series and seeing the sturdy simplicity of its design my radars back on that

MR - I wonder if you put the tomatoes in cheese cloth if it would work properly? Perhaps tomato chunks are clogging the exit port and keeping em in cloth would help? I dunno though, just a thought.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................

thanx fastfreedom but the just as big issue is the juice comes up over the op of crushing piston from down below in the cannister and gets on top of the piston , and then when you have to dismantle to clean the piston juices spills off it big time . plus at bottom exit its not gasketed / leak proof so it leaks there . its a great heavy duty tool , but its not designed water tight for liquids , its designed for solids

One thing that made me sell my Breville and get an Omega VRT was the 1 year vs. 10 year warranty. If something breaks, it'll get replaced.
