Default BLACK Sphinx Dates...died and gone to date heaven....

I came across Black Sphinx dates exactly 8 days ago. Whole Foods had a display of local dates that literally melt in your mouth... I didn't purchase any (BIG MISTAKE) and then dreamt about them for the past week. I finally made it back to WFM last night and purchased 2 pounds of these yummy devils! I think I could live on these and avocados! OH MY GOSH!!!

I'm with you. All dates are good but I just purchased a 12 lb box of the Black Sphynx dates. They are delicious. I just can't understand all of the garbage people eat that is so unappetizing to me. When nature provides the very best, why do people continue eating what has been refined, with added refined sugar, table salt, coloring, additives, preservatives, fillers, and chemicals to try and make what no longer resembles food in order to make it taste somewhat appealing again? I could eat these dates all day long and it is nice to know some other people recognize good food. I'm in Arizona too, in the Valley.

    My date story...

So the Black Sphinx date season was to begin in mid-October. I started calling Whole Foods then to find out when they would have them in stock. I called for a full month and kept being told that they had not come in yet and they did not know why. Finally, last week, I called the one and only Black Sphinx date farm in NW Phoenix. I was sadly told that a very bad storm had wiped out the date crop this year so there would not be any. I was so disappointed! These dates are very special and taste amazing and I was going to have to wait another year! Boo hoo!

I called one of the two WF's in my area to tell them what I had been told. I was going to be going to the other WF's in my area the next week, so I decided to tell the produce manager when I went.

I went on Monday night. As I was walking towards the produce manager in the produce department at WF's I found myself in front of a table display that was covered with BLACK SPHINX DATES!!!

    WHAT?

    I couldn't believe my eyes!

I was on one side of the table and the produce manager was on the other side. I started laughing and told him, "Boy, do I have a story for you!"

I told him what had happened and he responded with...so that's why we got such a small amount this year.

I wanted to purchase them all, but because of the small crop the price was very high. I did splurge and buy 2 pounds.

If you want to taste these luscious dates, find someone in Phoenix who will quickly purchase them and send them to you otherwise
you will have to wait until next year.

I have to go............I have a date with a Black Sphinx!
