    Default Too skinny ahhh!

Ahoy! I began eating 100% raw about a month ago. I went from 178 to 157lbs and I'm around 6"2 and a half. I didnt begin this diet to lose weight; I did it so I can cure my type 2 diabetes and get my energy levels and get back to nature. The thing is, although I look thin, I still have good color and bundles of energy for the most part. Actually, my body isn't showing "too much" bone or anything, I just know I should weigh more. My problem is that sometimes I get little cold, and pumpkin seeds are falling through the cracks of my fingers.. WAHH!!! Any ideas on great foods I can eat to stay warm and keep my calorie count high? Should I exercise a bit to trick my body to put weight on? or would going for an outside jog in snowy vancouver be my demise :P? I've started eating home made flax chips and 2 or 3 avocados a day, but i'm still looking thin in the face.. not horrible, but the shape of my skull is a secret to nobody anymore. maybe i'm underestimating how much I really need to eat when on a raw diet? any good meal plans? are there times a day when i should be eating certain things for maximum efficiency? So many questions, I know, but if I don't ask em, nobody will :). I feel like food isnt being fully digested as it should because i'm an eating machine, and i always have been. Also, whats a good staple food?

Also, I have the biggest craving for something savory, heavy, and filling. I've never wanted to stuff my face so badly. I'm certain that it's my body asking for specific nutrients, but what?

You should check out gorilla food and organic lives in vancouver (both downtown, I think) to take care of your cravings, and maybe get some ideas for your own homemade meals. I used to be WARM all the time, and now that I am raw I am always cool. It's just something I've gotten used to. I know it's harder in the winter (I'm in Victoria and I know we're both getting snow!) but warm soup (warmed in the blender or with low heat?) can be very satisfying.

I hope you find something that works for you. :)

I wouldn't worry so much about your weight... With raw food, your body finds the natural
weight that it was intended to be. As long as you feel good, don't worry, because
it should even out in time.

That's totally normal. When you transition into raw foods, your body will naturally start to lose weight, but eventually it balances out to very healthy and natural weight.

I think you should perhaps invest in some delicious raw nuts or something. pizazz them up with curry or nutritional yeast! yum! add denser foods, like coconut oil and raw hummus on some flax crackers. :)

I was just telling another poster who is concerned about losing too much weight about the brand Go Raw's organic raw granola, which is high calorie (240cal per 1/3cup) and is REALLY dense! In that 1/3 cup you get 20% of your daily recommendation of fiber which will keep you full for a long time! It also has 14% of your daily recommended fat intake, which could help with insulation and maintaining a comfortable body temperature.

I have also been obsessing over this raw hummus that I found at whole foods (can't think of the name) but it is very filling, very savory, and is perfect for dipping vegetables in, spreading over some kelp noodles, or even by itself! Hope that helps!
