    Default juicing help for newbie

I am planning on doing a juice fast that will last anywhere from 7 to 30 days. I have a few questions:

    1. Do I need to take in fiber? I assume there won't be much since it is all juice. Should I take a fiber supplement or work in some type of high-fiber food as a side item?
    2. Do I need to take in protein? I should point out that I don't plan on having any protein-rich items like nuts or anything. I plan on eating primary greens and berries and fruit and stuff. I have thought about doing a modified juice fast by adding a portion of grilled chicken every 2 days in order to get protein. Thoughts?
    3. Do I need to take a multivitamin while juicing? It seems that if I am taking in tons of fruits and vegetable that a multivitamin would be completely un-needed. Would a multivitamin actually pose a risk of any kind?
    4. How many calories should I be taking in per day? The consensus on calorie intake is that it is safe to take in 500 calories per day less than what you need, but anything more than that is not recommended. If I am creating 200 calorie recipes, would eating 3 or 4 per day be enough?
    5. Is it unsafe to lose too much weight too fast (this a variation of the above question)? Many juicing people talk about how they lose 20 pounds in 20 days.
    6. Can people recommend bland foods for me to juice? I am a very picky eater.

Personally, I only juiced and added no supplements or foods to my diet. I felt fantastic and plan on juice fasting often in the future.
Why do you want bland foods?
Don't worry so much about counting calories. If you want a juice, have a juice. I drank what seemed like tons and still lost weight.

Try orange, carrot and ginger. That's one of my favorites.

you will get plenty of protein. All the good quality, usable building blocks for protein are in vegetables. How else do you suppose cows and pigs and all those vegetarian animals turn plant foods into muscle?

    Forget calories.

    Forget weight loss.

Just do it for the health benefits one of which will be weight loss.

As to blandness. I don't find any juices bland. If you want bland then maybe add water but I think that can take the edge of the joy of juice especially if you add a lot. If you don't like juice then I question whether juicing is for you. Try it and see if you can learn to like some of the simpler combos or even straight-up single juices. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how wonderful they are.

For the most part, the idea of a fast is to allow your digestive system to rest. So typically one avoids fiber while on a fast.

    2. Do I need to take in protein? I should point out that I don't plan on having any protein-rich items like nuts or anything. I plan on eating primary greens and berries and fruit and stuff. Here's my opinion on the media talking about protein. It's all marketing hype. It sells meat and protein diet books. Your body will get an abundance of all the building blocks required consuming plants.

    3. Do I need to take a multivitamin while juicing? It seems that if I am taking in tons of fruits and vegetable that a multivitamin would be completely un-needed. Would a multivitamin actually pose a risk of any kind?
I don't really know for sure here. But my opinion would be that it would be unnecessary to take a multivitamin if you are juicing many different types of veggies and fruits. Something I commonly see raw food eaters talking about taking is B12.

    4. How many calories should I be taking in per day? The consensus on calorie intake is that it is safe to take in 500 calories per day less than what you need, but anything more than that is not recommended. If I am creating 200 calorie recipes, would eating 3 or 4 per day be enough?
The less juice you drink on a juice fast the quicker your body will detox. The more you drink the slower it will detox. Sometimes slow is good. I've drank more than a gallon of juice a day and as little as a cup during a fast. I just go by how I feel and how my activity level is. If I'm sitting around I drink less juice.

    5. Is it unsafe to lose too much weight too fast (this a variation of the above question)? Many juicing people talk about how they lose 20 pounds in 20 days.
    6. Can people recommend bland foods for me to juice? I am a very picky eater.

I can't really help you with the last two questions. I don't know anything about losing weight too quickly or bland juice. Except maybe to say that you should just juice what you like. If you like oranges then start with orange juice.
You have probably seen it, but there's a fasting forum on here for supporting one another while fasting.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................
