    Anyone have a recipe / link for green smoothies that do not require a strainer to filter out pulp?

    No green smoothie recipe requires you to filter out the pulp. That's what a smoothie is.... blended fluid, fruit and greens. No filtering required. Blend and drink.

    Well, the first green smoothie I made per the vitamix recipe book was supposed to be strained - I didn't and it was a disaster... I had to strain it after trying it without doing so. Waaaay too much pulp and too thick for my taste!

    Strained is juice. Not strained is smoothie.

    And I want smoothie recipes which do not have too much pulp after blending. Which veggies blend well enough with a little fruit to make good low pulp smoothies?

    You want juice then not smoothies. Just add as much pulp back to the juice after you've juiced the produce as you want to consume. I think that is easier than taking pulp out of a smoothie.

    I dunno.... I eat 100% of what I blend for a smoothie, except sometimes I scoop of the extra froth, if needed.

    What she said. I don't know where you're getting your recipes where you strain them but, that's not a smoothie in my book ~ and, I wrote a book. lol

    Yeah, smoothies can be full of pulp when you blend certain foods, especially foods high in coarse fiber. When l blend weeds the same thing happens, so l need a strainer. l would imagine some vegetables would be the same (coarse fiber).

    For a real silky smooth smoothie l would go for foods with a nice soft fiber, ie sprouted greens and sprouted nuts, sprouted seeds and sprouted legumes. lt is a much stronger drink to consume when using sprouts, but they make top draw highly potent smoothies.

    You could try:
    * alfalfa sprouts with fruit
    * mung bean and adzuki bean sprouts with fruit
    * sunflower greens with fruit
    * pea shoot greens with fruit
    etc etc.

    I'm wondering about vegetables like tomatoes - I'm looking for "high water content" vegetables which lend themselves to blending in a vitamix and making green smoothies without a lot of pulp. Thanks!

    NEVER MIND. I'll start a new thread on this.

    I make a green smoothie everyday and don't strain it. 1 cup spinach, 1 cup kale, 1 cup collard, 1 cup frozen bananas, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 2 tbsp flax seeds, 1 spoonful of my homemade almond butter, i fill the bottom of vitamix with water and once in-while may add a little more. I don't even blend on high speed much anymore but blend on speed 10 as i don't want to lose nutrients. The key to the blending is just keep adding water until you get the smoothness you want. I like all my drinks very liquid over a smoothie type so i attend to add more water to my drinks.
