Default Anyone have this problem with their Omega 8004?

    Hi,

So I bought this Omega 8004 a few days ago from Amazon. I like it a lot so far, but their is just 1 problem. I can't help but notice some parts of it are really loose. And when I juiced some harder items like carrots, beets, frozen banana and coconut, the machine seemed to struggle. What I mean is, I could see the parts really working hard and moving around and making noises. My auger is really loose/flimsy. I was watching videos on youtube and did not notice this problem with others' Omega 8004 and one guys seemed to making a locking sound when he put it in. Mine does not do that.

Anyway I made a short video tring to explain the problem. Let me know if this is normal or if this is something wrong.

i don't juice frozen fruits or veggies because its hard on the machine. It looked like you could turn that auger into place...? I dunno, personally I'd probably take it back and see if another one has the same issues.

i think you have to push that auger in with some force to get it beyond the pressure sleeve which it locks tight in to .

at your link above look on right side and theres some john kohler vids with the omega and no doubt he'll assemble it in one of them

but ide bet you just have to push that auger in harder , though you might have to pivot it to a certain spot to get it to push in .
just look at sleeve before placing auger and see if theres any slots that the auger has to line up with

Thanks I will try that. I did try to put a little force but was afraid to push too hard in fear of damaging it. But I will follow your advice.

Ok I just did a reply and I don't know what happened to it. So if it shows up later then you know why I've got a double post.

I watched the video and everything you showed and also everything you explained is normal. I've had mine for nearly two years now and have used it probably 650 days of the last 700. And sometimes I use it more than once per day. It's all normal so go ahead and get juicy. ;-P

There is another piece that goes in over the auger with the strainer bit on it. Mine is grey plastic with a metal strainer piece. It goes in over the auger and does sound lick it locks it in place and then the white (on mine) end bit that 1/4 turns to hold ll in place. You don't show those pieces in the video so just checking if you are using them.

Yeah I have those pieces. Just checked it and it is in properly and won't lock in. t is still wobbly. But when you put the plate/sleeve over the auger it holds it better in place.

    LOL

Yeah, it's all normal. I can understand your concern though, cus you just bought a brand new juicer and you think you may have gotten the short end of the stick. But mine does the same thing. I actually had to order a new housing for mine cus the one that came with the juicer cracked. The first housing seemed to have more movement than the current housing I have now. But depending on what I'm juicing, the housing I have now may move very little or it may move a lot. If it concerns you quite a bit, call the company and tell em your concern and ask that they replace the housing for you.

Ok. I decided to look for other videos of the omega 8004 on youtube to see if I could notice them moving as much. All of the videos had the camera too far away to notice any movement. So maybe it's cus your camera is so close that it appears to be moving a bit to me. So I watched your video again and it seemed to be moving less than what I recalled, I think it's just cus the camera is so close in that video that I thought it was moving a bit. But I'll go make a juice right quick and get back to you to comment on how much mine moves around. BRB.

I wish I had a video camera to compare mine to yours. i just finished making a juice with parsley, apple, celery, orange, carrots. And it did move around a bit, but it didn't seem to move that much. I still don't know though, cus that video is pretty close so it seems to be exaggerating the movement compared to watching mine from a couple feet.

So I decided to loosen the four screws where the juicing assembly attaches to the motor inside the locking ring. And it seemed to move around a bit more while those screws were loose. then I tightened em back up to compare again. So maybe check your screws inside the locking ring that's on the juicer to make sure they're snug.

But I wanted to watch your first video again to see the movement from a little farther away, but I couldn't see the video. "I think it said it was removed." Anyhow, mine does move around too, but it did seem to move around a bit more with the first housing I had, but I take that locking ring off from time to time to clean it and that may be why I recall the first housing moving around a bit more. Maybe the screws on mine were loose and I never took that ring off until after I got the new housing? I don't fully recall at the moment.

So yeah, maybe yours does appear to move around a bit more than mine. Maybe they have older housings that come with all the machines and the new ones they sell are a newer production run? I dunno. Maybe call em and tell em your concern and ask em to replace the housing if you want. I think they make you pay for shipping the old housing back though which kinda annoyed me at the time.

LOL. Back again. I like my juicer and don't have any problems with it, so I keep commenting because I want you to enjoy the same experience I've had with mine. I just keep replying cus I know what it feels like to be scammed and I want you to feel like you got a good deal and a great juicer too. Anyhow...................

Here's a video that get's closer to the juicer housing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnCi9...eature=related Around the 1 minute mark the video get's fairly close to the juicer. This is what mine looks like while I'm juicing.

BTW, here's a tip that I've learned. Notice all that mush stuck in his juicer there. If you follow up your soft fruits and greens with something hard like carrot or yam it will help keep things flowing through the juicer nicely. I typically juice carrots last, but I will use some of a carrot if it begins to build up like it did for the person in that video. Though I will use the carrot long before it really fills with mush like in that video. If I cant quickly push down with the plunger to create air pressure to push all the mush through then I'll follow up with a bit of carrot to get it through.

Post #9 I put a new video up. I did call them and they told me it was normal. But I understand some movement is normal but I am not sure they understand the degree of wobbliness. I wonder if that is normal. I have it under the warranty so if anything happens they replace it.

Do you still have the first video? If I recall it's not as close as the second video? Anyhow check out my most previous post with the link to the youtube video I found.
