    Lightbulb Picky Eater!

I have a 5 yr old daughter and she eats well, just I can't get her to try to eat the raw pastas or anything like that. She will drink Green Smoothies and eat berries and pounds of grapes in one sitting if I let her. Fresh juices no problem, she will grab the apples herself to eat. How can I get her to try some of the other things I make, besides the yummy desserts? I want my family to be 100% raw, but she demands Mac and Cheese!! LOL I'm 100% my hubby is I'd say 95% raw. My daughter she's like 50%, she loves Kale Chips she calls them Big Green Chips!

The first thought I had when reading your post was that it won't do her any harm to eat tons of fruit. The second thought was that if the mac and cheese is not in the house, she can't demand it. With that thought, you might like to consider getting all non-food gone from the kitchen completely. Eventually, she'll get hungry enough to try more real food.

Keep offering it to them. There is a picture thread under raw kids it has great recipes with pictures. Hide the veggies in stuff. Shes drinking the smoothies you are doing great. They will detox also just like us. Gradually give her less n less. decrease the portions have her eat the healthy stuff first then the other. Your are doing a great job with your family.

Thanks so much!!! It's just a hard job with my daughter she eats well when shes with me but when she goes to grandma's she gives her fast food. (I hope saying that isn't against the rules, I'm sorry if it is) I will pack her kale chips, seaweed chips, grapes, bananas to eat as snacks. I made some amazing raw alfredo lastnight that she tried but she didn't like it. T_T She did like the Durien as momma did very much I ate a whole half!! LOL

I would just give her the fruits as much she wants and smoothie. Her taste will develop better

i second that... you control your child, your child doesn't control you. eat what is given, or don't eat... eventually they'll eat whatever you put in front of them. lol

you can also learn to make raw mac & cheese & give that to her.

maybe i'm a bit harsh, but i think if you want your whole family to be raw, you just have to make it so. :) remove the junk food & stuff & she can demand all she wants & it won't change that it's not available for her to eat. she may be really fussy for a few days, but in the end she'll comply & she'll be happy, thankful and grateful for anything you put in front of her. you just have to follow through with it & not be scared. :) good luck!

Wait until they throw up on her. My mom gave my daughter a corn dog and about 1/2 hour later she was throwing up all over her. Mom I told you so. My kids don't eat that garbage.

Thank Goodness my relatives don't dare give my kids anything I don't allow :)

Truamica, I'm in the same situation. My daughter is 5 too. I gave her zucchini noodles with a "cheesy" sauce to take to school with her, it was sooo good, and she didn't even taste it. She didn't even taste it
She drinks smoothies but not really green smoothies, and lately she's going through a phase where she doesn't even want veggies, so it's hard, but i keep trying.
She's been almost vegan her whole life, and we never ate fast food, so she doesn't crave it, but she does love pasta and bread etc. So I let her have it once in a while, and I'm weaning her of it gradually.

Today she had sliced apples with tahini and strawberries for breakfast, half a glass of spinach and apple juice, half a glass of carrot juice, cucumber noodles with avocado sauce, a banana, a medjool date and some cooked beans. That's it. Not a whole lot...But at least it was mostly raw, and all healthy.
My 2 year old eats even less, but he nurses a lot so I'm not worried.

Keep trying, their taste buds also change gradually so they start to appreciate good food more. :)

ok, im new to the who eating raw idea... I havnt converted yet, but am trying to... But to your quote about your kid puking on gma, first that sounded a little rude, but thats ok.. whatever... my question is Why would she puke?? If they've ate it b4 and/or they like it, then why are you waiting on your kid to puke or why do you think she is going to puke??? Im just a little confused.

Wink Learning the whole on the "RAW"!!!

I am a mother of 3 boys, ages 3, 2, & 1. My boys were strickly vegitarians up until maybe a year old, there gma gives them quite a bit more veriety than i would like, she is now working on it, but my boys have developed a taiste to bad foods, junk, candy, sodas, etc. i could go on... i am not a perfect eater, but i have for the most part tried to get my family to eat better and make better choices. But my delima today is my 3 year old is very VERY selective of the veggies he eats and they have to be "COOKED" ( i dont want to have to cook them) a certain way. will only eat raw baby carrots, loves most fruits.... My 2 y/o, i dont think he likes any veggies AT ALL!!! I kep trying, raw and at thisw point, even cooked. he will not eat them, he tells me he dont like them. my 1 y/o, he is weird on texture and will only eat mashed cooked babyfood like veggies and fruit for the most part, will occationally eat COOKED rice, but its really hard for me to find food for them all to eat and like. I dont have a food proccessor, i dont have a fancy blender, just an elcheepo.... I have no clue how to make any raw dishes, i honestly dont know how to eat raw, just that regular fruits and veggies that are not cooked are , DUH, RAw.. lol... Please any and ALL suggestions please on how i can get started eating raw and how i can get my famiyl eating raw and also, maybe some CHEAP* (cause we are limited budget) meal plans, breakfast, lunches, dinners, (Lots of ideas)..... so far all im doing now is fruit for breakfast, fruit for snack, then they end up having cooked meals the rest of the day unless they want more snacks, i give them fruit. So PLEASE if anyone had ALOT of awesoem ideas to help me transition my whole familys lifestyle to this much healthier one, please help me oput. :-) ps. remember i dont have a bunch of fancy kitchen gadgets..... ********. i guess answer me back on here... Ive never used these post sites so im learning how they work to, lol.. ;-)

Sorry if it sounded rude. I hope read the entire conversation. My daughter never had any animal products, my mother thought it wouldn't hurt her so gave her a corn dog. A deep fried battered pork product. Of course it made my daughter sick. She never had the enzymes to digest such a thing. .

You are brave. I would never post my phone number. There are alot of spammers that visit. So if I were you I would remove it from your post.
    Most kids love fruits:
I blend spinach with orange juice is tastes like orange juice but its green.
I dip veggies in almond butter / agave.
Search the threads I think there is one about favorite dips.
Look in the recipe section here it is great. There is a thread What do you feed your kids.
Good Luck. I wish you a happy rawesome family.

Go with fruits and a source of fatty acid. This is what your children needs at that age. Don't worry about the vegetables, it will come.

A simple apple has all the essential amino acid for the body. Children needs the good sugar. I used to be so worry that my daughter didn't want anything but her smoothie (made from fruits/hemp seeds), today, i can see that she was following her body's need. Children are far more in tune with their body then us.

Get ride of the junk food in your house, they won't be temptation for them. You are their voice and stand your ground regarding family.

Give them as much fruits as they want. Learn to open a young coconut on youtube. They are a great source of food for those little one.

    All the best!
    Blessings and love
