Default Need help from fellow juicers

Well, as just about everyone I know has watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead by now, I am taking the 60 day challenge. Here are a few problems.

    1. The Mean Green he makes (6 Kale Leaves, 1 Cucumber, 4 Celery Stalks, 2 Green Apples, 1/2 Lemon, 1 piece of ginger)

I can't stand the taste, I simply can not drink this it tastes like grass clippings.

I want to be able to do this for a full 60 days and only drink juice. I want to detox this body that has lived on grease, fat, sugar for the last 30 yrs.

Does anyone have any options for me? My wife wants to do it also but she too can't stand the taste.

    Thanks everyone,

    Scott

I love carrot, orange and ginger juice. I mix equal yields of juice (like 2 cups each) with a good hunk of ginger. It's creamy and has a little bite to it.

Watermelon and cucumber is yummy too. I'd try starting with fruit juices to accustom yourself to it, then as time goes on add more greens to your juices. I find that lemon juice really tames down the taste when I accidentally use too many greens in my juices. (I know, I shouldn't say that, there's never too many greens) Good luck!

I will give this one a shot tonight.

According to everything I have read too many fruits is a bad thing, they say 60/40. I want to drink only juice for the entire 60 days then get into eating only veggies and such.

So would drinking more fruit vs veggies = bad?

I think drinking just fruit juice is a good way to ease your way in. Just add a stalk of celery, or leaf of lettuce. You'll be surprised how quickly your tastebuds adjust to it and even crave the greens!

Coming to this lifestyle, I was a little shocked too about what I was now hearing about fruit. All I'd heard is that it made you fat. I jumped into it and just trusted it and I'm so glad I did. Fruits and veggies have everything you need and your body doesn't have to work nearly as hard to assimilate the nutrients like it would with, say, a candybar.

Kale is a little strong. start out with less. Spinach and swiss chrard are nice subtitutes for kale. Im not to fond of cucumber either. Here is my favorite green juice:
1/2 bag spinach, 1 bunch of celery, 2 apples pink gala, juice of 2 lemons. Soo good it tastes like lemonade. Experiment and find ones that you enjoy. Pineapple spinach is great also. have fun with it and happy juicing.

I did a 209 day fast on primarily fruit juices. I've found that the people who tell you what to do while fasting often haven't fasted much themselves. *rolls eyes*

Here's a great thread with some yummy juices in it: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthrea...-while-Fasting

Remember... fasting is hard enough. Don't make it harder by making your juices not yummy. Yummy is good!

I love pineapple/apple/parsley with spirulina mixed in. So nice and refreshing. Just because Joe (on that movie) made the choice to drink really green juices doesn't mean you have to.

Congrats on your decision to fast!!! Your body will thank you for it!

I also couldn't handle the flavor of greens in the beginning, probably like most everyone who comes off a SAD. But just add a little bit of greens in the beginning just like ZombieDawn suggests, and eventually you will crave them.

That's what I did and YES, I now CRAVE greens. My family members laughed at me over Thanksgiving when I made the comment, "I'm craving greens". LOL One family member said, "that's something you will never hear me say". And we all had a good laugh.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................

Your taste buds are ruined by fat/grease etc.. BUT they will return

Use romaine lettuce or spinach until you get used to kale or add an apple or half of a sweet potato
    use the whole lemon
