Juicing but still consuming alcohol
I learned about juicing here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/289122/fat...nd-nearly-dead
I'm a fairly healthy 30 year old male so I didn't consult a doctor or anything. I just jumped right in. I didn't and don't want to do a detox or fast. I just started eating less of the food I used to eat but added the juice. Everything seems fine. I'm a little stinky but the energy levels seem to be going up and the skin on my face is looking better.
But I drink too much alcohol which is obviously a "toxin". How do you think that would factor in with the whole cleansing business?

You answer your own question.

That is so great that you came to juicing on your own and didn't waste any time getting at it!
I have many friends who consume more then their share of alcoholic drinks, and I've been trying to get them into juicing. If your gonna be drinking something bad for you, best drink lots of good stuff too!
As for continuing juicing while drinking as well, I figure you'll be better off juicing then stopping and just drinking alcohol regardless of the detox, but this is all assumption. If you are really wanting to help your body cleanse, look into coffee enemas, as they will help your liver purge toxins faster from my understanding.
That movie is really good, seems to be catching a lot of people who are vaguely interested in becoming healthier.

Reason: added a comment and link about the movie
If drink anything when juicing it seems like 2sips would get me drunk. I just avoid it now. Once in a while I will drink organic sulfite free red wine its supposed to be raw. I wouldn't do it on a fast though it might backtrack your detox. Good luck.
Thanks for the support. This is just a progress report for anyone who is thinking of juicing.
Yep, I still consume more than my fair share of alcohol. I've been juicing for two weeks now. My skin started looking really good really fast. My energy levels are high (no joke). Like at work I'll find myself bouncing my leg up and down like I used to in high school. Now I also jog and do push ups and sit ups but I think the juicing has played a huge role in my progress.
One other thing. Although it was not my intention to consume nothing but juice I'm finding that's very easy to do because the juice makes your stomach feel full. Like I can get a large sized double quarter pounder meal (mmm that sounds so good right now, i'd kill for one.. ha ha jk) at McDonalds and still feel hungry (and sleepy). Today I have only had about 2 glasses of vegetables, 1 glass of fruit, and a glass of milk and I feel completely content and still have to drink the second glass of fruit. My glass is medium sized. I can see this being a long term thing for me.
If anyone is on the fence about juicing I recommend you give it a shot :)

If you give juicing 100% a shot (no pun intended), the craving for alcohol lessens. I love red wine and have recently given it up entirely to dedicate myself to the raw life style. I won't say that it has been easy, but I also have health goals in mind. I'm not telling you what to do, but I will tell you from experience that it does. In fact, in one of my really old juicing books, there is a juice that is specifically for this!!! If you want it, I can post!!!

I think it's because the Gerson Method showcased extreme patients. FSND showed a couple guys that were just like the average Joe.
I've added juice to my regular not so healthy diet, but I have to mention my diet is much more healthy than the s.a.d.
I started almost three weeks ago, and as you've mentioned, I too have more energy, my daily headaches went away, and all around feel much better. Oh, I've lost ten pounds too. All that without changing anything, all I did was add juice.
I'm a winemaker, not by trade, but by hobby. While I'm a far cry from my legal limit of 200 gallons a year that I can make, I probably make around 80 gallons of wine a year. That's a lot of alcohol. My wife and I don't drink it all, some of it goes out as gifts, but we still drink our fair share worth! Plus I do sample it as it's being made! Yes, even the nasty part of making wine.
I made some of that "Mean Green" for the first time today. It's actually not that bad! I haven't had any juice for about 4 days now, and I noticed I was starting to get sluggish, and the headache was starting to return. So I snagged that recipe from the movie and tried it out! Well, using exactly the amount of fruits and vegetables he used in his breville, I yielded 36 oz of juice from my press! Looks to be a tad more than he was getting.
While I haven't done a detox, fast, or anything like that yet, I can't see how it can't help a little if you just add Juice to your diet. I also find when I drink juice, I'm not hungry like I usually am, so I eat less. That probably accounts for the weight loss I've had.
I am planning a ten day fast starting next Friday though, so we'll see how that goes!
Hi Kias. Welcome. Yes, adding juice will definitely help. I'm a winemaker too and can definitely relate. I'm trying to find some property to start a real winery now. I think this journey is all about finding the right balance for each person individually. There is no right or wrong. Just listen to your body.
"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions."
I don't drink at all generally. By that I mean that I don't really like it very much and so I just don't choose to drink it - except - occasionally I have a glass of cider or perry and very occasionally I have a measure of brandy.
I usually feel dreadful the day after. Not the wild hangovers of youth but just really grumpy, sluggish and with a bit of a headache and a queasy tummy.
I don't think it is worth the relatively small amount of pleasure I occasionally get from the drinking to have to suffer the effects the next day.
I'm not very raw vegan at the moment but I still avoid alcohol even when the rest of my diet is less than optimally healthful.
I'm about 90% Raw, the only exceptions being:
1. Diet Coke
All of which I know are toxins, drugs, whatever.
I still feel incredible living on a 90% raw diet. I also have noticed I do not desire as much alcohol as I used to when I was eating cooked foods. I still enjoy getting hammered, being the 21 year old that I am, and I try not to beat myself up about having a few drinks here and there... and there... and then some, when the rest of my diet is so pure. I have noticed my tolerance for alcohol decreased which is a good and a bad thing. You can slowly cut back on the amount of alcohol you consume, while still enjoying the same levels of intoxication. I used to drink half of a .750ml bottle of vodka, or tequila to reach a "buzz" but now I feel the same way after one or two drinks. A lot of the green juices will help detoxify your liver, which will help repair any damage done.
l am no expert, but that alcohol has many nasties that will probably make your detox almost non existent. Not only is alcohol full of nutritional inhibitors and refined sugar, but it is going to strip you of enormous amounts of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other highly important life supporting nutrients. One of the biggest nasties of alcohol is the high presence of Flouride, it is considered the second most toxic substance known to man, and not only that, it is no longer pharmaceutical grade flouride, it is untreated industrial flouride scraped straight from fertiliser plant chimney stacks and dumped straight into many water supplies around the world. Australia and U.S.A have very dangerous water now, and not only is the chemical waste got locally, countries are also importing it from Chinese industrial areas. And the biggest problem with Flouride (aside from being poisoned) is its highly dramatic effect on inhibiting enzymes, so this basically means that the body won't be able to carry out all of its functions because the body is being killed off. An even more serious side effect than death is Flouride's negative effect on the pineal gland, if you mess with it you are in all sorts of trouble, it doesn't get worse than this in my opinion, it profoundly effects spiritual function and ability to be highly perceptive with a good 6th sense, it basically dumbs you down. Wanna have trouble passing on after death?...well many believe that Flouride will do that because the pineal gland is important for spiritual function. And not only that, but the water used for booze in many countires also has well over the recommended levels of mercury, lead and some other crazy stuff. l could go on and on with this stuff, but l would be writing all day, l have only stratched the surface here.

And not only that, they are so concerned about themselves that they even made it illegal to dump Flouride in the water in both Washington D.C and Canberra Australia, both are wear the government passes bills etc (parliament/congress). And even stranger is the fact that Canberra and Washington are actually classified as separate countries from the countries they are in. So in effect, Obama isn't president of the United States, he is actually president of Washington and CEO of the corporation of America. You try working that out.
Two steps forward, ten steps backward l say. Not worth it.
The best way to overcome the alcohol problem according to experts at HHI is to take Chlorella. People with tendencies to drink booze have blood sugar problems, some call it `pica'. Chlorella and good quality greens will fiz this if the refined sugars are eliminated.

Chlorella and quality green drinks will take craving away. 100% raw diet full of fresh grown sprouted juices will kill strong cravings within days l have found.

Certain sprouts and grasses have been proven scientifically to have 30 times the nutritional profile over the best fresh picked garden greens, this means 30 times the power to help the body balance itself. So if store bought vegies are used (often many weeks after they are picked), we know they lose huge amounts of nutrients very quickly and are useless after 3 weeks at most, but are almost useless after two weeks. So you could probably even say that freshed sprout and grass juices probably have 100 - 200 times the healing power over many store bought vegies.
