Default What to do with new dehydrators? Please Help* excalibur dehydrator users"

    Hi all,

My second Excalibur dehydrator arrived to day after the first was making an odd vibrational noise.

So I (carefully) got it out of the box and set it on the side, took the trays out and turned it on... and it was great, no wierd noises.

Then I put the trays in and noticed that there was a clicking noise which I think might be the trays resting on the fan caging, as it seems more forward than previous. So its been making a clicking noise for a little while now almost like water trickling... and then it has just stopped.... and gone back to white noise...

Does it take a while to warm up/wear in the fan and thermastat? Could it just have been dust or residue on the parts of the machine?

    Thanks

    Default been too long ago

I don't recall mine making any noises other than the normal running. Sorry.

Guess the only thing I can think of making noise inside is sometimes the teflon sheets can rattle.

    Default *PLEASE HELP*Excalibur dehydrator users

    Hi guys,

I swapped my first excalibur for a second because it was making such a heavy vibrational noise that it sounded like a helicopter taking off at times.

I have gone to use the replacement and think that I have still got a broken one. Now I know that they arent quiet, but this one makes a clicking noise and when inserting the trays they actually bounce of the metal guard seperating the fan - it pushed them forward alot. I thought that it might be the fan rubbing but the fan looks like its going around smoothly, and it still happens when all the trays are out. Pulling the guard away from the fan is useless if I cant get the trays in with the door on.

So can people please tell me if they are able to get all their trays in without it touching the back in the middle and what kind of sounds it emits? I do live in a small flat so I am probably more sensitive to the noise, but its not the "white noise" that bothers just the clicking noise it constantly emits. It almost sounds like something is caught.

And for UK users where did you buy your dehydrator from please?

    Many thanks

    Hi

    I bought mine from http://www.fresh-network.com/

It was £20 off at the time and was the cheapest one around then.

Their service and communication were excellent although their courier let them down by trying to deliver to wrong address... twice.

I bought food and later on, the teflex sheets. All a very good experience.

The dehydrator is excellent. No funny noises and works like a dream.

I'm sure their customer care would be equally good after purchase and delivery too.

Where are you in the UK, Katterin. I need some UK raw buddies.

    Hiya,

I'm in Kent, south east england. Nice to meet a fellow raw, there is short supply down here!

Thanks for your help. The guard seems to misaligned and causing the trays to rattle and presses on the fan

I have sent them an email but they are closed on weekends, and they delivered last monday. Havent had a chance to use it before now. Just hope they will take it back because Monday would be the 7th day if you dont count the delivery day and they arent open at weekends to talk to them either! I think I'll get a refund and buy from somewhere else.

I will have a look at the fresh network although they are about £8 more expensive than the others ive seen.

Places I know that sell them are:

    uk juicers (currently from)
    juiceland
    fresh network
    raw living
    detox the world - shazzie

Its a pain, I've had to put all the stuff I prepared in the freezer grrr

    mut remain calm... breathe...

ive found the way they are constructed to be a little "rough". ive had to take mine apart from the back a few times to clean, and the wire box is really rough around the edges. literally. not very polished production but, mine works. probably better for you to wait and try to return it but you also might be able to fix it with no hassle. you can easily unscrew the back with a regular screw drivers, and just see if you need to/can make minor adjustments to the cage.

Just know that many times if you take it apart and try to mess with it yourself you void the warranty.

    Hi,

We have just bought a used 9 tray excalibur. On firing up the machine the fan blade broke, it snagged on the mesh cage protecting blade and element. repair failed on 2nd use.
Excalibur sell replacement blade $10 but charge $30+ for shipping. Enquiries with resellers in UK - None stock spares.

    Can anyone help.

I use a L'equip dehydrator. There is a slight clicking sound that I notice when dehydrating things I attribute to the things I'm dehydrating shrinking up on the sheets, I notice it especially with banana chips and sweet potato chips. These things seem to grab the sheets a bit.
