Traceyraw, I am trying to add iodine through seaweed, and I am using the Pink Himalayan Salts (does it contain iodine)
I also use kelp flakes, and dulse flakes on my salads.
I just ordered some Kelp Noodles, I just have to figure out how to prepare them. Any suggestions
No pink salt does not contain iodine. I sprinkle dulse flakes in smoothes, salads, crackers, whatever I can manage. You can try Nori rolls they are very easy to make just cut some veggies and wrap them up. I didn't care for the kelp noodles. I hope this helps.

I am so into grapes they were on sale for $1.49 lb at my grocer. Bought 3 bags. I am so loving grapes right now. I really want the dark purple concord grapes but never see them. They are supposed to be the best for you but the hardest to get. Maybe the grape juice people are hoarding them so we buy there juice. LOL. Attempting to make Kim Chi tonight. Love the stuff. I am going to start juice fasting Sunday with the fasting club. Cant wait. Tonight Im making cucumber/pear juice.

I got Norman Walkers book Fresh Fruit and Veggies juice. I will post some more about it when Im finished reading it.

Cathy for thyroid he suggests these 2 juices.
    61 = carrot 10 oz/spinach 6 oz.
    30 = carrot 10 oz. beet,cucumber 3 oz each

61 seems to be the favorite in the book.

He also said that the toxins/pesticides stick to the fiber that's why he recommends juices and not smoothies. Interesting.

WOW. But they also have a Vitamix...... which I'm planning on buying as soon as I pay off my dehydrator this Spring hahahhahaaa!

I say go for it! It's DEFINITELY worth it to have a top of the line juicer. I'd do it next if I already had a Vitamix.

    Default First day

Today is day one for going raw. Having my first meal now, a smoothie with banana, grapefruit, brocolli, celery, kelp, hemp seeds, goji berries, and probably a few other things.

And today is day two of doing Zeolite. I won't be selling it so I'll be offering some truthful feedback. For one, it tastes like chalk.
Started raw foods on Jan. 21,2012.

    Hey,

Joined you on the 17th (this Tuesday) and planned to do it for a week, but it seems pretty cool... So maybe it would be great to join you for a bit longer...

Anyways, it's mostly been fresh and dried fruits which have been delicious. Bought the second melon today, and all the kitchen is full of apples, pears, bananas, radishes, oranges, and other delicious stuff waiting to be eaten... For the first time in my life I experienced a wish to eat an avocado, it tasted so good and creamy... just need to buy a new one Also been sprouting peas, beans, and quinoa, and the black rice should be ready by tomorrow, I'm exited to get to know what it tastes like:)

The last meal consisted of a smoothie made of sea buckthorns, raspberries, and melon and it was really delicious (I added a bit honey also).

Haven't really been experiencing much of detox, maybe just feeling a bit dizzy and sleepy. Today I probably got a cold, but hopefully it'll get over.

But there is a really weird thing going on. I'm having those periods of clear eyesight. Used to do some eye exercises before (by Martin Sussman) and experienced those periods sometimes, but never for so long. He mentioned these clear eyesight periods in his book and according to him, these are an indicator that your eyesight is getting better, so I'm really excited... I have had glasses since I was 8 (I'm 20 now) and it would be so great to see clearly again.

Also, looking to the mirror is a pleasure :)

Anyway, wish you all good luck with your challenge!

I live in Greece, so I can't order from that site, but thanks for letting me know anyway :)

I didn't end up having the creamy risoto after all. Instead I made some cauliflower "rice" and blended some sesame oil and soy sauce with it, and then topped with mung bean sprouts, and some sauce made of garlic, soy cauce and some lemon juice. It was reaaally yummy, and tasted like chinese food, which I was really missing. Now I know what I'll have if I have a craving.

    Good night everyone!

westernwind, the dizziness, sleepiness, and possibly the cold, are detox symptoms ;)
It's really great that your eyesight is getting better!
It's also great you're starting to appreciate raw food. The more I stay on a raw diet, the more I love it. I would never before eat raw cauliflower, or broccoli, or even peppers. Now I love them!

TraceyRaw, thanks for the Juice recommendations, I will have to try the Carrot and Spinach asap.

Today has been a very hard day physically, but I will keep pressing on.

    1 liter of Coconut Water
Green Smoothie: Whole bag of organic baby spinach, apple, frozen bananas, Orange, cherries, cilantro
    4 Clementines
Romaine Lettuce as my "wraps", Avocado, Homemade raw ranch
    Handful of cashews

I have 2 big eggplants in my dehydrator that will be eggplant bacon hopefully by tomorrow afternoon.
I also have 2 trays of homemade kale chips. I used the leftover marinade sauce that I used for the eggplant bacon to coat the kale leaves. We
shall see how they turn out tomorrow. They sure smell good ;)

Yesterday was zucchini spaghetti day -- I couldn't get enough!!

One quart orange/grapefruit juice, a banana and coconut meat for breakfast
snacked on some leftover parsnip rice mid-morning
zucchini spaghetti w EVOO, marinated mushrooms, sundried tomato and nutritional yeast for lunch and then made it again for dinner!

Today I'm using up my non-juicable produce in preparation for another juice fast.... so I expect to have lots of guacamole, eggplant jerky and coconut meat YUM......

Let us know how that kale comes out, cathy! i used my leftover jerky marinade to soak my mushrooms yesterday and they came out AMAZING.

i've not posted for a few days due to being busy. good to hear everyone is doing so well!

today is day 16 and frankly I feel exhausted. yesterday i went for a 4 hour hike across the moors which left me beat for the rest of the day, I don't think i consumed any where near enough calories for such a grueling hike, but i ate when hungry and didn't feel lacking in energy at the time. (probably thanks to the chia in my breakfast smoothie!)
also i really need to make sure i'm drinking enough, as I drank very little water yesterday and i think that adds to feeling so tired and groggy. I find if I eat chia I tend to feel less thirsty. I know it's suppose to keep you hydrated, but still I wasn't drinking enough.
i think I'm going to need to have a little shot of Matcha to perk me up, anyone else heard of this fantastic stuff?

    today so far
green smoothie with banana, mango and spinach
chia pudding with brazil nut milk, banana and a little honey and vanilla

Lucy, I bet in Greece you can get the best raw olives.. :)
Cathy I hope you feel better.

When Im done fasting Im going to try eggplant jerky it sounds soo good.
Last night I had 1 quart of cucumber, pear, ginger juice. The cucumber is supposed to be good for hair skin and nails. I ate a tone of grapes also yesterday. and 2 banannas.

Im having mid back pain. Kidney detox? I slept soo good last night I didn't want to get up. I used to be such a light sleeper now I sleep like a baby.

Does anybody ever see purple concord grapes like on the grape juice commercials? I would love to make my own grape juice with them.

Happy Raw Day. Im feeling good and energetic today excited for my fast.

Today: I have grapes, pear, apples for bfast and lunch. Dinner is going to be some juice maybe pineapple.

Here is a funny story I forgot to share the other day...
I had taken some Kale Chips that I had made out with me when me and the kids were running errands the other day. We had stopped at Best Buy and
before I got out of the car I had looked in the mirror to put on some lipstick. Thankfully I smiled and saw that I had kale chips ALL in my teeth!!! I looked
like a green monster HA!! My kids thought it was pretty funny. Thankfully I keep floss in my purse ;)
Today I had eaten some of the eggplant bacon on our way to church, and I had pieces of eggplant stuck between my teeth. My family laughed and said
"You might be a raw foodie if you go around with kale and eggplant stuck in your teeth" I'm glad they thought it was funny ;)

    Today I had...
    2 Bananas
Kale Chips (These turned out REALLY good with the left over marinade that I used from the eggplant bacon)
Eggplant Bacon and more Eggplant Bacon (I couldn't get enough)
A small handful of fresh picked pecans
Chia Pudding with Lucuma Powder and a Banana (I'm so glad I made another batch of my Chia Pudding, I was really missing it) I made 12 jars today to
eat over this week. They look so cute sitting in the fridge ;)

Good Morning everybody. I started my juice fast last night. Now im at work sipping on the pineapple gazpacho. I added Kale but it was such a good deal. I learned to pick the pineapples that aren't ripe yet so they juice fine. The ripe ones tend to much up and clogg my juice.I drank apple/pear juice then an enema that cleaned me out good then about 1 hours later I passed just a chunk of plain white mucous. Im feeling great today. Energetic and ready to fast. Im taking the parasite cleanse along with it also hopefully I won't see any squirmy wormies.

Good luck on your fast, tracey!

I'm still really sick and my son's still home from school with this cold as well.... not feeling like starting a fast when I'm still sneezing and got the chills already hahahahaha! I know I'll get back to it this week, though. I'm a bit annoyed because I usually NEVER get sick! Oh well.

Yesterday I had elimination "issues" due to this cold and some nausea, so I spent much time in the bathroom and didn't want to eat too much!

    Breakfast was a cashew-banana smoothie
Lunch was guacamole with flax crackers
Dinner was a quart of orange/grapefruit juice along with eggplant jerky

I'm missing my green smoothies and kale salads!!!! But no appetite for them with this cold. I'll try and get some fresh kale today at the store, maybe that'll inspire me.... I might just decide to start juicing only if my appetite/energy continues to dwindle... we'll see.
