I just read about the 30 day challenge today! Really great posts from everyone. I love to hear what everyone is eating and how they're fairing.

I started my day with a smoothie consisting of kale, dates, apple and water. Lunch was a yummy salad of arugula, sprouted lentils, ground flaxseed, pomegranet seeds, olive oil, apple cider vinegar and sea salt. Snacked on more sprouted lentils with Mongolian fire oil and sea salt. Dinner was another smoothie (wheat grass, peaches, banana and water.). Now its 8:30 and I'm starved! Have to go see what's lurking in the fridge. Lol!

The last few days I have been listening to dr Robert Morse's youtube videos and they are really interesting! For those that don't know about him, he is a naturopath,
and promotes the raw food approach (and lots of herbs too) for many different diseases and ailments. What a lovely man!

I am keeping this raw food lifestyle as simple as I can. I hate making food a major issue in my life, and that does seem to help me to eat only when my body needs food, not
to eat only because I have made a wonderful yummy creation. That is just my approach, I do love to do a recipe now and then, please don't get me wrong!!

Today I made about 2 litres of green smoothie, with banana and collard greens, so that has been my fuel all day.

I had an avo and half a handful of nuts, and I think that is enough for tonight. I am actually quite full.

Took the dog for a walk this afternoon , it was challenging in this heat though! Temperature hit 107 F today! Humidity 71%.

Jeannie~ I'm gonna check out Dr Robert Morse as soon as im done on here. Sounds interesting. How long has he been around?

Today I had green juice in the morning w/ fruit. I am slowly adding more and more greens to my juicing, and less fruit. At first the green juice was just too over powering but now my body is adapting and I'm enjoying the different flavors from kale, spinach, chard, collards, parsley, celery greens, carrot greens, etc. Going to the market today to get some more.... I wonder what I'll bring home today :-)

I don't have bananas to make my smoothie, does anyone have a good smoothie recipe without banana?

I'll be having sprouts, and some seeds for snacking, and maybe some dried fruit as well.

Another salad for dinner, and maybe I'll make some more zucchini pasta with "cheeze" sauce. Hmm, that sounds good. I need to get a dehydrator so I can make breads and crackers.

Is there such a thing as raw hummus? Prob not.

Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind,
and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.

"The most sublime truth of all has never been stated or written or sung,
not because it is far away and can’t be reached but because it is so intimately close,
closer than anything that can be spoken." - Gangaji

Love reading all these entries...wish I could remember to get on here every day, it would help me stay on track...

Woke up this morning to a huge green smoothie; fresh from my own garden collard greens, two clementines and a banana and a half ....it was delish
Lunch was a huge Itailan Cabage salad...with a half of an avocado and some tomatoes....yum..
Dinner....probably some more of that salad and snacking on fruits throughout the rest of the afternoon...

Will get on my spinning bike in a few and if I go as hard as I am planning a "datorade" is also in my near future...
    Rawk on peeps...see you tomorrow.
    Petra,

Green juice: Kale, Myer Lemon, Celery, Green Apple, Ginger
Green Smoothie: Spinach, 2 Oranges, Apple, Coconut Water, 2 Bananas, Goji Powder, Maca Powder
    Chia Pudding, Lucuma Powder, Banana
    Dates, and some raisins

I had made some homemade raw ranch that I was excited to try today on a nice big salad, but we were so busy during the day, and late getting home
from church, that I didn't get to get my salad in. I will make sure I eat it tomorrow. But, trust me I had enough greens in the green juice and smoothie
that I got more than enough. In my green juice I had about 8-10 Kale leaves. In the Green smoothie I had at least 6 cups of spinach.
I know greens are so important to healing the body, and that's what I need to do.

I pray everyone has a great week!!

not posted last couple of days, had some amazing news that i've been accepted onto a 7 month internship in Canada on an organic farm so i've been mega busy doing research into what i need to sort out.

meals have been bit haphazard for the last couple of days as a result, but still raw.

so far today it's been a big green smoothie and a 5 mile walk

BlackKat : I think Robert Morse has been doing this for about 40 years or so. :-)

Have you seen Aleeshas sticky "70 green smoothies"? Some fantastic ideas there! It is under raw recipes and food preparation.
Erm...I need to learn how to add links into forums!

Today I had craving for cheese and not just any cheese.. feta! It was really bad! Maybe it was a craving for salt, and not the cheese itself?

Green smoothie with banana and collard greens for breakfast
    Grapes
    An apricot
    2 cherry tomatoes
    a banana

I made a salad platter for dinner, with tomato, avo, lettuce, cucumber, snowpea sprouts and carrot strips. My husband is away so the girls and I
sat around our loungeroom table, and picked everything up with our fingers and that is how we had dinner!

I ordered a really cute little gadget today, It works and looks like a giant pencil sharpener, it is called a Spirelli, and the one end is big enough for a carrot, and the other for a zucchini, and it makes looong squiggly noodles, but doesn't take up heaps of space in the kitchen. I hope it works well.

I've not posted in a couple of days, but I'm still going.. have been keeping it simple. Today for lunch I had a big green salad with a bunch of veggies and about a quarter of an avocado on top. I dressed it with a dressing I made from cilantro, asparagus, sweet peppers and lime. I realized I typically only post pics of more complex dishes that I prepare, so I thought a picture of my salad from lunch might be nice to post today:

    A very simple day.
In the AM I was only in the mood for water with lemon, then sprouted cereal and almond milk.
I spent awhile making my almond cookies, so for lunch I had a couple of figs, a date, some almonds
I didn't put enough sweetner in the cookies, so I'll crumble them into 'cereal' and have it with almond milk.
But that's what I ate for dinner. And then I'm about to have cuties.

    Hello everyone!

Blackkat, for raw hummus, you just to need to sprout some chickpeas for a couple of days, and then blend with lots of raw tahini, lemon juice garlic, and a bit of salt. It's totally yummy.
Instead of banana you can always use avocado, but it's not sweet so maybe you can add some agave or a date or something.

Ok, what did I have yesterday...
Breakfast: juice with romaine lettuce, carrot, red pepper

Lunch, kale chips, big green salad with alfalfa sprouts

Afternoon, green smoothie (celery, orange juice, banana, frozen cherries)

Dinner broccoli and hummus, and chia pudding for dessert
A few bananas and nuts too.

Today I started the day with spinach apple and orange juice
I have no idea what I else I 'm going to have, I'm running out of food. Oh I had some kale chips too (I looooooove kale chips)

Hi All you lovely raw foodies!

Today I had a green smoothie
Then about a handful of grapes
A greek salad at a restaurant. Was soooo hard to push the feta cheese to one side *cry* Next time I will ask them to leave it out.
That is the very thing I am craving the most! But, that was the only salad on the menu that had no meat.

Eating out is proving to be a challenge and in my small town, there are only 4 restaurants and
everything on the menu contains animal products.

Dinner, I had an avo, some coconut and 2 plums.

I'm right there with you when it comes to Kale chips!! I LOVE these things!!
The only problem I'm running in to, is that I make a raw cheese sauce to coat them in, and I use 1 cup of Cashews to make it.
Well if I end up eating the whole 2 heads of kale chips within a day, then I have consumed a whole cup of cashews in one day!!
Not good for the weight loss ;)

What is your favorite recipe that you use to coat your kale chips? I just really love the "cheese" flavor that the cashews give them.

Another question about kale chips.... Can you use any other greens besides kale that will make a good "chip" The reason I am asking is because of my
thyroid problems. I don't think I should be eating so much kale. I also use kale in my green juices and smoothies.
I wonder if collards would work for a collard chip??
    Any suggestions?

I'm having a hard day today craving cooked food. Nothing bad but just healthy vegan cooked food. It is so cold and dreary and these cold drinks and
foods are not very satisfying or comforting right now. I guess if I was seeing a big improvement in my health and the way I was feeling it would be easier
to stick with, but my thyroid is really giving me fits right now, and nothing is making me feel better. I plan to stick with the rest of my 30 day challenge
but I really wish the warmer weather and all the yummy fruit that comes in the summer would hurry up and get here ;) It's so much easier being 100%
raw in the spring, summer, and fall. Maybe I should move to the tropics and eat mangoes all day :)

I will report what I ate today this evening once my day is complete.

    Have a good one...
    Cathy

have you ever tried a little extra virgin olive oil, garlic powder and nutritional yeast on kale??? talk about cheesy!!! OMG! Some raw foodists don't approve of the nutritional yeast because it is a cooked man made supplement, but I use it! It's got a ton of B vitamins so you get a little high eating it! Concerning your thyroid and too much kale..I too have a thyroid issue and can each bunches at a time like you...what I say is to trust your intuition! If you feel like your body wants a break, try something new like collards or even big leaves of spinach. check out : www.stopthethyroidmadness.com
I think that if on 100% raw, you are giving your thyroid so much nourishment that the foods some say we should avoid might be different compared to those on a regular cooked diet. That's just my opinion. Stay strong!!!
