Default Jan 2012 - 30 day raw food challenge JOIN ANYTIME OF THE MONTH

    Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge and welcome to our new monthly format.

This is our monthly challenge thread. We are choosing to do one (or perhaps split into two) continual threads so we can create a community of support within this challenge. You can join this thread at any time during the month. Don't be shy... we love new posters!!! So if you want to join us... please do!

I welcome people who are already 100% raw to join in the conversation - supporting our challengers in their quest!

This thread is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to 30 consecutive days of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

I will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month. If I forget... send me a quick email and remind me... I'll get the challenge thread online for you quickly.

The focus of the monthly challenge is on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, don't beat yourself up over it or dwell on it - but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going! This thread is about celebrating what you are eating that IS raw!

I welcome you all to share pics of your dishes, ask questions, share what you are consuming (as long as it's raw). We are here to listen to your emotional and physical challenges. So share share share!!!

OH and the best part of this (not only the support but...) you can subscribe to this thread and get notified every time someone posts to it. This way you will be connected!

So let's get this party started!!!

Starting late, but starting. I just turned 49 this year and I have promised myself that I would not carry my unhealthy habits into my 50's. So here's to a good start.

Happy New Year and good luck to everyone. I am off to work, made a big banana, spinach, mixed fruit and hemp oil smoothie to take with me. My problem is not when I am workinfg since I am so busy, it is during my down time.

I've been 100% raw since January 1st. I had been sort of raw all of December, but was having protein cooked every morning, and taking breaks from the whole thing for family gatherings. During November, I ate a low carb diet high in animal products, with raw veggies, and had lost almost 30 pounds that month. I've been battling a weight plateau since shortly before Thanksgiving. My previous weight loss successes were always based on raw food, so shortly before the new year I decided I would simply have to do it with 100% raw since nothing else seemed to be working.

For the first five days of this month, my weight has stayed stubbornly exactly the same - at 262 lbs. This morning, I got on the scale and weighed in at 259 pounds. YES! The big FIVE in there! Today is my anniversary. We were planning to go out and eat, and I had requested a salad bar type restaurant, but with this success, I really don't want to jinx it by eating too much today - even raw - and don't think I could keep myself away from the potato and salad bars anyway. So, I've asked my husband to not go out to eat - just go to the movies and come home.

Day 4 for me and feeling great!!

I had a carrot juice, a dandelion apple and ginger juice for breakfast,
A green salad with alfalfa sprouts and grated cashews for lunch
3 bananas, 3 oranges, 1 grapefruit, and some walnuts for a snack
A green smoothie, marinated broccoli and an orange juice for dinner
I think I'll have an almond milk and banana smoothie later on too. I 'm basically eating all day long ha ha!!

    For breakfast, my usual banana.

And then we went to the farmer's market where we sampled various fruits and also some raw yacon. The yacon tasted a lot like jicama.

For lunch we had a big green salad at Panera Bread (but no bread obviously). I love that salads are so accessible at just about any kind of restaurant!

For dinner, we ended up at Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley, and I ordered their all raw Caesar Salad. But I didn't really pay attention to how much dressing they put on the salad, which in retrospect was A LOT! It's a nut based dressing, and probably had added oils in it as well. My gallbladder was not very happy with me after that, so from here on out, I really need to be a stickler about not eating too many nuts and fatty things in a day.

So yeah, a busy day, but all in all a good one.. and lesson learned about the fats!

YAY!! I made it all raw even with the huge party we had all day for our children
We were gone from 1:30 this afternoon till about 9:30 tonight.
We had 28 people bowling and then everyone went to Longhorn Steakhouse.
Well here is what I did.....
I made 2- 4cup jars full of green juice and had one in the morning before we left, and then drank the other one at the bowling alley when everyone else was eating their snacks and drinking their sodas ;) I even had a couple of people want to try my green drink, and they liked it ;)
I had brought my own salad dressing with me just in case we went out to a steakhouse after bowling. So at the restaurant I ordered a big salad with romaine, and salad mix which was the red and dark green lettuces. I got cut up strawberries, oranges, red grapes, and then used my own dressing. It was VERY yummy and I didn't miss anything that they were eating. When everyone else was stuffed, I felt great ;)

I know I didn't consume very much today, but I knew that we were going to be out and busy, so it all worked out great in the end.

Cathy - did you bring the cut up fruit? I've taken fruit salad with me to a restaurant
I love the idea of putting on the greens. What type of dressing did you use?

Apples carrots and melons plus raw olives and almonds are in stock. Need to do some more shopping but I can survive on what is here for the time being.

    Hi from Australia!
Day 4 for me today, and at last my detox headache left!
Today went well, no temptations at all!
This morning I made a big batch of nectarine, mango and lettuce smoothie, and have been
having that all day, with 2 handfuls of almonds in total, when I felt a bit hungry.
Tonight's dinner is a bowl of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, snowpea sprout salad with chickpeas and an avo dressing, yum!

Good job you early starters! Congratulations on day 11 Mony, and on the end of your headache Jeannie :P

Started yesterday, alternating my days between juice fasting water fasting and rainbow green. Really buckling down on candida on this one. I water fasted 24 hours and then had an avocado. Will probably green juice fast today but i'll go according to my choices so that's not for sure.Haven't had any detox yet! Happy New Years day everybody

Default Ready to Commit to RAW!

I will join the challenge. After eating SAD over the holidays and binging again last night, I am ready for a change. I want to look and feel better than ever! My sister-in-law is getting married in May of this year, and I want to look good and have lots of energy for the event. This morning I had a banana and an apple. I bought a huge bag of kale greens for 79 cents, so I will have massaged kale salad for lunch. I know it won't be easy, but I'm sure the results will be worth it. I can't wait to post a picture of my before and after. Thanks everyone for your support. Having this community sure makes it easier!

I too had a very non-raw time the past two weeks. I also had massaged kale salad for lunch. I added some of my very special present to myself - some Throuba Olives from therawgreek. They are so good.

I have also had bananas - suddenly had a yen for them - and watercress and tomatoes and carrot and courgette in with the kale and a small avo and some shelled hemp and some raw apricots and probably some other raw stuff but I can't recall it all.
