Replacements for drinks
I guess I am curious what besides water do you drink on a raw food diet. I have always liked iced tea, or ginger ale. Looking to stay away from things like aspartame, as-well as sugar. That pretty much cuts those out. I like to get some caffeine in throughout the day. So would anyone have any suggestions on something with flavor to it thats not bad for you? Also I know of a green tea brand that uses splenda. Would that be an okay thing to drink? Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

It really depends on your philosophy regarding raw foods. I personally see no problem with having some tea now and then. Usually, the husband and I will make suntea (just leave tea leaves in a jar in a sunny spot for a while). I sometimes drink green or black tea, but mostly we stick to herbal tea. We never use sweeteners in our drinks.. once you get used to not having sweet drinks, it's really no big deal. But if you really want to sweeten your drink, how about using something like Stevia (which might actually be what Splenda is, for all I know about it).

oooh, splenda is actually sucralose. Probably would avoid that if I were you.

What tea leaves do you buy if you don't mind me asking?

We buy different kinds of tea, but admittedly I don't know if the leaves are raw or not, which means they probably are not. Sometimes we buy herbal teas from Teavana, we also have a bunch of green tea that we bought when we were in China that is absolutely incredible. And every now and then, I make tea using Mighty Leaf tea leaves.

I drink the GT Kombucha drinks. I get them from Whole Foods and my local organic grocery stores. They are expensive @ almost 3-4 dollars, but they are yummy and refreshing. They have a variety of flavors and they are good for you.

I think its great to juice. I have a Breville centrifugal juicer and it makes delicious juice. (Store bought juices are pasteurized in most cases, and not raw. Freshly juiced is the best way to go, tastes best too.)
Smoothies are delicious and a hybrid drink/meal. I like to make a smoothie in my blender, drink a bunch, and then jar the remainder for on the go.
Purified (distilled water) is another thing I like to drink. I have a MegaHome water distiller and I like to put the water I distill into a jar to take on the go.
If I'm out and about and don't have one of my jar drinks with me I don't mind at all buying some kombucha. Lots of flavors and varieties, but my favorite right now is Synergy Drinks Multi Green.

I do drink some tea with honey or Stevia. Stevia is from a plant its a natural low calorie sweetner. Raw agave nector is wonderful too.. I often make lemonade mix Raw agave the juice of some lemons and water. Very good. You can use lemons and limes.
Smoothies, juices, almond milk. I make seasame milk with honey LOVE IT> Try things out.

We drink Celestial Seasonings herbal teas sweetened with stevia. Probably not raw but in my opinion it's better than the 9-12 cans of diet soda I used to drink in a day. Ugh...
We decided not to use agave mostly because it's as bad or worse than high fructose corn syrup for fructose and probably not raw either. I wish there were labeling standards for raw, it doesn't appear there is. Then again the food industry doesn't want us raw because there isn't any money in it for them and without big money lobbying, we probably won't ever see them.

My juicer is one of my best friends. LOL
I pretty much take it with me wherever I go if I plan on staying for more than a day. Seriously, I do. LOL

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................
