    Default Best juicer for fruit?

    Hi,

I was almost set on buying and Omega 8005/8006 but hear it is not good for juicing fruits. I plan to juice fruits as much as veggies. What is a good all around juicer? My budget is $300 or less.

It's not that the Omega is poor at juicing fruits, it's that a centrifugal type juicer is better at very JUICY type fruits. I have an Omega and a Breville juicer and the Omega or Greenstar does a great all around job at juicing. The Omega will do a much better job at juicing leafy greens than a centrifugal style like the Breville but the Breville extracts a bit more juice from very juicy fruits.
But their are other issues to consider before making your decision.

Check out John Kohlers juice machine videos on YouTube. Very informative and will answer ALL your questions. I believe the Greenstar is a little more than your budget and according to John's video and information he prefers the Omega over the Greenstar and other juicers.

Well I do plan to juice some berries like cranberries, strawberries, citrus, apples, pears, pineapple etc. So it is pretty important to me what would juice these the best. But I also plan to juice leafy greens, and hard veggies. Root crops like carrots, ginger, and beets. WOuld I want a maticating or centrifugal juicer? I was thinking about buying the Omega 8006 or Omega VRT.

Get a Kuvings GMPD multi purpose masticating juicer, its much cheaper than the omegas and works like a charm. I had a cheap Hamilton Beach centrifugal before this one and the kuvings is much quieter and gives you higher quality juice. In one of john kohlers videos on youtube he compares the j8006 and the vrt350 side by side for wheatgrass and the vrt350 gave out a TON of foam while the j8006 gave out more juice and less foam. So between those two the j8006 is better.

Kohler also did a video on comparing the Omega 8004 (06) to the Greenstar and showed that the Omega had less foam than the Greenstar on a regular veg/fruit recipe. My advice is that, as I mentioned above, the Omega is probably the better all around juicer. But if you need speed where you can just put in whole fruits/vegs with very little prep, then the centrifugal type like the Breville is better. The Omega does a better job with leafy greens. It also does fruits very well it's just that the cent. type will extract a bit more juice. But the cent. type does not do leafy greens as well as the masticating Omega.

yea, single auger juicers like the omega 8004-6 isn't ideal for soft fruits, you'll end up making baby food...i've tried. you are better off with a centrifugal juicer (as long as you don't plan on juicing wheat grass). take a look at breville juicers.

For me it is a toss up now between the Omega 8006 and the Breville 800Jexl. The one thing that makes the Omega more attractive is the longer warranty plus the fact it can juice leafy greens well. Plus it is a sorta multi function machine. But what I like about the Breville is the speed and the fact it juices fruits better. When juicing leafy greens out of the Breville is it really bad? Could you just run it through the juicer again? Also the 1 year parts warranty and the 3 year motor warranty makes me a little worried. How good does the Breville juice carrots and beets and ginger?

As we mentioned, it DOES do leafy greens, carrots, etc.. just not as well as the Omega. If you will be doing primarily fruit, then the Breville is the way to go. If you need speed...Breville.
I just gave my GF my Breville Ikon. I use the Omega and she is new to juicing and doesn't have the time (in the morning) that the Omega requires. The Breville is perfect for her. She does Kale, carrots, cucumbers, celery and apple. Comes out very well.
I actually did a YouTube video comparing the Omega 8006 to the Breville Ikon. I used the above mentioned recipe and the yield was EXACTLY the same although the Omega had a greener richer look (due to the leafy greens) and the Breville had a more cloudy look (due to the fruit). I showed the cleaning process also.

    Default Omega VRT Vs Breville

So i have a question i brought the breville juicer becasue of the film Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and i liked it but i saw reviews of the Omega VRT so i got that. It does a great job making almond milk but i have been juicing for about a week with it. The issue i am having is that the pulp is getting jammed in the pulp port and the screen hole I have to clean it out half way though every time. Is anyone else having this problem and if so how can i fix it. I like the fact it gives more nutrition but i have to strain everything and it is a pain. Thanks

I have the omega vrt and know what you mean. Fibrous veggies such as greens and celery tend to clog the outlet port. I usually chop these up into small pieces first. When juicing I alternate these with harder veggies like carrots that help push the fibrous greens through. That works like a charm. I run a handful of greens then carrot then other things like apples, cucumbers, etc and repeat.

I have the Breville Juice Fountain. It does great for me. It is a reasonable price and bed bath and beyond with the 20% off coupon you get from there website. The orange juice tastes like Orange Julius. I have had it for 5 years now with no problems. I make large amounts of juice in it.

Many times, I am asked the question, "Which is the best juicer to juice fruits?". In general, I will respond with one word - none. In my opinion, a blender would be a more suitable appliance. Why would I give this answer? Hopefully this article will shed some light on this subject.
Well, what about vegetables? Should I blend them too? I believe that the thick fiberous cell structure of vegetables make it very difficult to obtain maximum nutrient absorption from vegetables. Our digestive system is not made like a cow with three stomachs to effectively absorb the nutrients from vegetables (i.e.: carrots, beets, greens, etc) , so in my opinion, they should be juiced.. Blended vegetables are absorbed in about 2 hours ; whereas vegetables that are juiced take as little as 30 minutes to be digested. For a more complete article discussing this, There are several reasons why I recommend blending fruits instead of juicing them. I will cover one at a time.
    1. Many juicers are not efficient at juicing a wide variety of fruits. What will happen is that you will get a little juice, and quite a bit of pulp. In my opinion, this is a waste of the fruit.. I mean fruits are SOOOOO delicious (and sometimes expensive, if you don't grow your own!)
    2. Fruits are here on earth for us to eat whole and complete. Remember Adam and Eve? I personally believe fruits should be eaten whole, and enjoyed. My rule of thumb-- strive to eat ripe fruit, that is as fresh as possible. True ripe fruit tastes so much better than store bought produce. (Ever eat a hard peach that didn't have any flavor?) Most produce is picked unripe since it needs to be shipped long distances to get to the store near you.. If you are not able to pick your own, I highly suggest visiting local farmers markets and supporting local farmers.
    3. Did you know that we need fiber in our diet? Fiber is not a large component of juice as compared to the original whole fruit. I believe fiber is essential in our diet. I mostly juice veggies, I need to get my fiber somewhere-- from the fruits! Did you know that the fiber in the fruit helps to regulate the absorption of the sugar in the fruit into our bodies? When you drink fruit juice, without the fiber, the sugar is not regulated... which I don't think is a good thing, unless you need a "quick pick-me-up" or something.

Omega VERT or Huron NO QUESTION..... I don't like the champion because it is too fast and it heats up.

Centrifuge are fine but you need to drink the juice right of way or within 20 min.
