Default Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum; yet ....

not new to eating raw foods.

We have been living in the country now since 1995, learning what wild plants/animals exist here that are useful (culinary and medicinal) and then supplementing with common veggies, fruits, nuts & meats. (We grow all our own meats...goats & fowl...and grow a large garden most every year. Our fruit trees just started bearing well this year; so will continue to learn about them.)

One plant we discovered this late fall (zone 7) is coming up all around our Asian Pear trees and the Comfrey (Bock 14) nearby. It tastes sweet with a slight tartness when eaten raw. I have no idea as yet what it is. Perhaps someone in here can identify it. (I've already looked in my "Edible Wild Plants" book for it and did not find it.) All the leaves you see are attached to one elongated root.

I am hoping to learn much in these forums about which foods are healthiest when eaten raw, though I suspect most would be, and how best to prepare them. I also hope to contribute as I find ways of doing so.

    hello,

There are lots of people here who grow some of their own fruits and veg, some also forage. I don't know about others here but I keep rescue hens.

Generally though this is a vegan forum so we talk only of raw vegan foods.

Not sure what your plant is. It has a sort of sorrel look to the bottom of the leaf but it's a much lusher green than any of the sorrel that grows round here. What does the flower and seed look like?

We just discovered it this fall and it is still young; so there are no flowers/seeds as yet. Will be watching it for those as it grows though.

    Thanks for the url.
