    Question Hello (again) from Brampton...

Well it took me over a year since my original post before deciding to go raw but I did it!

I'm eating mostly fruits (apples, bananas, avocados, tomatoes, etc.) The funny part is I thought I'd struggle giving up my favorite foods but believe it or not, it wasn't that hard. In the beginning I fell off the wagon a couple of times (not too bad in my opinion); but after learning to leave the room when my trigger foods were present, really helped me get over that hump.

I've only been doing the "Raw Diet" for like 3 weeks now but I'm doing it (and that's the most important part for me). I'm 36 1/2, 5'10" and before doing the raw diet I was 215 Lbs. I was considered "obese". Now I'm 205 Lbs and I'm considered "overweight". But it's really not about the weight loss for me. I mean....if the weight loss happens, it happens. If not, I can live with that.

My motivation was my health. My whole life I was a skinny stick. After I got married, I ballooned steadily over the years to 225 Lbs. I was steady at 225 for the longest time and then I got sick. I ended up in the hospital; stomach cramps and general ill health. They couldn't find what was wrong with me. After handing me a handful of pills I was O.K. for a little over one year. Then I got sick again (no word of a lie) and was in the same hospital. They looked at me and asked what I had been up to. It was much worse; turns out my appendix burst. I was so sick, they say I came seconds to death.

I realize a ruptured appendix is a common ailment but after they removed it, it took me a week to recover. I had a lot of time to think about my health and decided enough was enough. So...here I am.

Good for you, really! I am amazed at how much work it takes to show someone how wonderful the benefits of raw are to their long term health. Good job! It's a hard road to take, for some but really worth the time and research for a better way of life!

I've had the doctors do the same to me; tell me they don't know what's wrong and give me some stupid pills that didn't do anything to help. I had swollen lymph nodes. They had been swollen for a year before I went in to the doctor they did a cat scan on them and said there was no cancer or anything...four years later they were still swollen and all this time I hadn't been able to smell very well. Then I decided to do a 4 day water fast and the swelling went away. After two more water fasts of 4 days my sense of smell returned! That was when I decided to stick to raw foods because I had an article about a man who had experimented with all sorts of simple diets and found he had a heightened sense of smell when eating only raw. I wish I could remember who the article was by, it was one of the main fasting authorities...
