    Default My Family Goes Raw

    Hello Raw Food Talkers,

Watching 12 Steps to Raw Food by Victoria Boutenko last month convinced me that going raw was the right path for my family, and gave me great advice on how to make it happen. In June I went raw for one month before breaking the diet. I've been 100% raw now on my second try since October 30th and I'm not going back. My girlfriend and 22 month old son joined me in on November 1st.

One of the biggest challenges I've had is getting my son the nutrition he needs as he does not breast feed. I've found that he will drink lots of juices, as long as there is apple in it. Apple kale, apple fig, apple cucumber, apple carrot, so far the only one I couldn't get him to drink was a beet juice. He also consumes a large amount of bananas, enjoys raw crackers, and even eats some vegetables and fruits without processing.

My girlfriend had a lot of resistance to the diet as well, at first. Once she tried raw lasagna, she said "I can do this," and has been content with the change ever since.

Victoria Boutenko and David Wolfe have been very inspirational to me. 12 Steps to Raw Food, Foodmatters, and Dying to Have Known are three movies that have been fundamental reinforcement for me during this month. I just went through my first raw Thanksgiving, and I know I will make it through Christmas.

Look forward to sharing with you all. Happy Thanksgiving.

Welcome and, congratulations! Only suggestion (which you may already be doing... just not posted) is more variety in greens. Oh! maybe make kale chips if you've got a dehydrator? If not, just add some to whatever fruit smoothie you make. Enjoy!

    Hi there!!!

So glad to have you here!!!!! What a fine example you are setting for your family!!! My family was 100% Raw for a while and I loved every minute of it. It sure made life a lot easier for me. They do still eat high raw, and I'm hoping that they make the decision to stick with it as they grow up. I wish I had found Alissa when my kids were babies! I never would have given them cooked food ever. Please keep posting and let us know how you're doing!

    Wishing you Rawsome success!!!!

I've seen several recipes with zucchini noodles that look really good. I'll have to try them when I'm done with my fasting cycle.

my favorite is the zucchini mac and cheese found at rawfoodrecipes.com . it is an excellent substitution for the cooked version of mac and cheese (my three yr old constantly asks me to make this for her ) .
