Default Do you think juicing like this will help me lose weight?

Hey guys! Right now I am aiming to drink around 3 glasses of vegetable and fruit juice a day and if I'm still hungry then have a fresh salad or some cut up vegetables. So my diet would be about 75% juice. I am not overweight but my BMI is on the higher side of average but I have a small-medium frame... But I've been overweight all my life until now... So just wondering if people think this is a healthy approach or have any other juicing tips? I make all my juices 3/4 vegetables and 1/4 fruit. Should I have more or less fruit or should I keep them separate? Any info would be great!

doesn't sound as though you'd be eating enough.

I agree with Georgina and even though you're trying to lose weight, if that's ALL you will be eating, this will set you up for a metabolism slow-down backlash, IMO.

Thanks guys! How much do you think I should be eating? Maybe another salad and a small handful of nuts? I'm 5'2 so I don't need too much I don't think...

For me, the question always comes down to ~ is it sustainable? Using juicing or raw foods as a "weight-loss diet" is just bringing bad habits to a new life-style. If you just eat raw foods and add juicing to it, the weight will still come down while you will be creating great healthy life-time habits. How much should you eat? Enough so you feel totally satisfied and when you see a plate of cooked food, you don't feel the urge to dive-in because you're so hungry you can't stop yourself.

I agree... and upping your juice intake tremendously will help as well. Make those three glasses more like 2+ litters. :) And most importantly... enjoy your experience. If not eating more is feeling like you are limiting yourself then increase what you are eating. More juice or salad isn't going to slow down your weight release.

Oh no I wasn't using it to lose weight... I think the way I wrote it kinda gave the wrong impression! I am a raw foodist but the way I am currently eating is sustaining my weight... So thought that adding juicing would encourage weight loss but I was confused... I feel like I was eating too many nuts and seeds and my body wants more juice and vegetables right now instead, but I'm not sure how to go about that the right way. I'm not too worried about how long it will take as long as I get there :) I am not dieting or limiting myself at all... Sorry about the confusion.

Doing a juice fast (the proper way) is effective at detoxing and losing weight but like others have said it won't be sustainable. Your body will need more. If you've been raw for awhile some might suggest cutting down on your fat intake, I remember when I first started eating raw I ate a lot of nuts and seeds, although I felt great, I wasn't losing much weight. If you are overweight and you try adjusting your intake of different things you'll find the right balance. Listen to your body.

Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind,
and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.

I agree that juice fast is great at dexofying and cleansing your system. However, the question is that will you be able to sustain such diet? How about having an exercise plan as well? what you think?
