Default 70 years old weight loss..

    Hello!

Last November through a friend i started to learn about Raw food diet and right now i guess i am eating %70 raw. i eliminated dairy products and all processed foods from my diet. (I am still learning and searching and this is the reaosn i am here :=) )

i also encouraged my mom to eat raw .. My mom is almost 70 years old and she over weight.. b/c of her health issues (her knee and bone problems she is in pain) she has to loose weight asap..

last June she started to eat raw and she lost some weight .. before raw food diet she was 189.2 pounds ( she is 4,10!) and now she is 178.2 pounds. Although she is still on the same diet her weight lost has stopped and i donno what to do now.. the good news is she is healthier and not putting weight on but in order for her to live better she has to loose more kg..

For your information my mom is following the diet below,

Mornings . 12-16 oz kale (or spinach), apple juice
    fruits until lunch

most of the time she goes raw until dinner.. but sometimes she eats lunch ..such as salad (with olive oil and lemon juice..) and brown pasta .. ( or brown rice, bulgur etc)
Dinner salad and soup ( cooked lentil soup etc) and cooked vegetables ..

in between she is eating dried fruits or nuts ..

she is also not using any dairy or process food anymore.

***Do you have any suggestion for me to help my mom?

Thank you for reading until here and have a great day!

    Welcome Beste,

Drop the dried fruit and eat fresh. Make sure she's drinking a lot of water ~ at least 64 ounces. If she continues eating dried fruit, she "should" be drinking even more water. In our "Over 40 Fitness Group" we've found that water tends to be one of the things we tend to not drink enough of.

Is she up and moving? There's more to weight elimination than just diet.

btw ~ my husband comes from your neighboring country, Denmark.

Hi Beste: I am a few years younger than your mom and also struggle with weight issues and bone/arthritic problems and in fact have had two knee replacements already. Looking at what you posted she eats (if indeed she is eating only those things) like Revvell I would suggest she start eating fresh fruit instead of the dried and really limit those nuts. I find for myself that I will not lose an oz if I eat either of those two things because it is very easy to get too many calories by snacking on those items especially because they are so yummy and yes healthy, (but alas very calorie dense). Presently I am drinking my calories with a total vegetable/juice and less fruit juice diet/fast and dropping weight like crazy. If your mom is less active as I am it does not take much extra to gain weight. I moved from raw eating to juicing because I really needed weight loss but really needed to get on top of my inflammatory problems and when I eating even though it was raw I was way to heavy on the dried products and tended to enjoy nuts, seeds, and dried fruit way more than was needed for my conditions.

Hope that helps, let us all know..........................tell you mom hi from me.

I'm learning a lot here. Danke schon Beste, Revvell and Likestoswim. Being raw since Jan I initially lost weight which had been a real struggle for me all because I have hypoglycia and I'm scared of being hungry with blood sugars and all. Going raw helped put my blood sugars on balance but I'm still cautious. I also have a rare disorder which is auto-immune and inflammatory. (In April I found out I'm highly allergic to bananas, and moderately allergic to brocolli, mushrooms and cranberries -some of my mainstays on the raw food diet. I wonder what that had been doing to my system.)

My weight loss has come to a stop and I want to continue on with this food regime. I've been trying to find out if juicing is more healthy than eating raw. I understand about losing all the pulp when juicing (can't see the benefit to that) but never considered the benefit of adding all the liquid, nor the reduction in snacking on nuts -that's my downfall. So juicing it is. Thanks all.

p.s. I crave nuts because they help lubricant my system. (Constipation you know.) I've started to use more coconut oil instead and expect that to work wonders, and have a lot less calories.

You may try to cut down on or try to eliminate the pasta, rice, ( or bread, grains, etc.)
