Default Need some recipes...and some support

Hello. Brand new here, and new to raw food.
Today is day 9 of my first juice fast.

I'm doing okay with the willpower. I still cook burgers, etc., for my family, then I sit with them and drink my juice while they eat.
I'm a little disappointed that the weight isn't coming off faster. Everything I've read said to expect a pound a day. I've only lost 5 pounds so far.
Also, not meaning to get into the area of TMI, I haven't had any of the giant bowel movements I was told to expect.

The real problem I'm having is the taste. The fruit drinks are great, of course.
I managed to experiment and come up with a V8 copycat that I like.
The green drinks are a problem. One recipe I can choke down is kale, spinach, carrot, celery, apple.
But I had a cabbage-based drink last night that almost made me throw up. I couldn't get it down.

I've scoured the web but haven't really found anything.
Is it just something I have to get used to? Or are there some recipes out there that aren't disgusting.?

It sounds like you are not only new to fasting but juicing also. If this is true, you should have found some juice recipes you liked before you started your fast. But anyway... make sure you don't drink a lot of just fruit juices. You really need a lot of veg's juices with some fruit thrown in. Keep experimenting until you find a recipe you like. I usually tell people that it might just be one particular produce that is ruining the drink for you.
Many recipes on this forum. Try just carrot, celery and apple to start. The idea is to start with the ones you like and then build from there. If you like the carrot, celery and apple, after awhile add kale in small quantities.
In the beginning, I liked the recipe you started with. And as many have said, you will eventually find yourself cutting back on the fruit part of the recipe and will go to just vegs. I myself ALWAYS include an apple with my vegs. juice but just the other day, I eliminated it and just had the vegs. It was great.

Weight loss: How much juice are you drinking? Make sure you are drinking enough of the juice and not too much fruit juice. If your body doesn't get enough, it will think it is in starvation mode and hang onto as much fat as it can. You have to fuel the body to help it lose the weight. Maybe try a RAW diet WITH the juicing. The RAW will really help push the stuff out.

As far as the "movements", there are a lot of articles that state that you will probably get constipated during a juice fast and that you should drink lots of filtered water AND/OR take a colon cleanse supplement or psylium husks. The husks, mixed with water will become gel like and help push things through your intestines. Everyone is different. Some don't require supplements, some do.

I myself have been juicing for about 9 months. I have been gathering as much info as I can and about to do my first fast next week.

My advice is to read as much as you can about fasting. Here is a good link: Also read the thread on this board regarding fasting and peoples favorite fasting recipes. Good luck.
