Default Sept 2011 - 30 Day Challenge. Join any time of the month!!!

    Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge and welcome to our new monthly format.

This is our monthly challenge thread. We are choosing to do one (or perhaps split into two) continual threads so we can create a community of support within this challenge. You can join this thread at any time during the month. Don't be shy... we love new posters!!! So if you want to join us... please do!

I welcome people who are already 100% raw to join in the conversation - supporting our challengers in their quest!

This thread is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to 30 consecutive days of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

I will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month. If I forget... send me a quick email and remind me... I'll get the challenge thread online for you quickly.

The focus of the monthly challenge is on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, don't beat yourself up over it or dwell on it - but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going! This thread is about celebrating what you are eating that IS raw!

I welcome you all to share pics of your dishes, ask questions, share what you are consuming (as long as it's raw). We are here to listen to your emotional and physical challenges. So share share share!!!

OH and the best part of this (not only the support but...) you can subscribe to this thread and get notified every time someone posts to it. This way you will be connected!

So let's get this party started!!!

Here's to the next 30 days.

Month 5 for me and only one day in that time where I have been less than 100% - yesterday. Back on track for me now.

I am starting my second week of being raw. I had a great first week. I lost 3 kilos, 7 lbs. I have had 2 glasses of juice, melon, I wanted to eat it but it was not sweet enough, apple, carrot, ginger and broccoli, not the best juice. then I had a huge salad with sweet peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms. Its still early here so I will post the remainder of my day later.

I need to finish my produce shopping this morning but I did get 3 pounds of kale at the farmer's market yesterday (the farmer isn't certified organic but he is organic, hurray!) and I froze some blueberries a couple months ago so I had a green smoothie with kale, banana, blueberries and a tiny bit of flax seed.

I made some of the Ani Phyo coconut pudding this morning so later I might make a parfait with that and buckwheaties and whatever fruit I buy today. Also hoping to find a ripe avocado for some kale salad.

I'm trying to plan ahead because leaving room to wonder what to eat is usually where I fail.

I'm in. 100%. This will be my first attempt to eat a raw vegan diet! Cant wait to see how it goes. I'm also a full time student so this should be interesting. I just think I need a HUGE kickstart to healthy!

I have been probably wanting to eat 100% raw for half of my life but currently am at 80%. That 20% brings me down and I want to do 100%. It helps to have other people doing something with you. It gives me inspiration and motivation. I am ready and excited.

Today first I had a ginger kombucha and I ate radishes for lunch, then I drank wheatgrass, ginger, orange juice from my juicer and right now I will eat a big salad with onion, tomato and cabbage. Later I will have more wheatgrass.

Woo hooo, i'm in it AGAIN. And this time I am so prepared. I quit my job, I have the funds, and I'm going to the lake in 10 days, so I have motivation and space. I want to do a 5 day green juice fast before the lake so that I can really feel the connection to the nature when I get there, although this may end up being 1-3 days instead depending on how I feel on day 5... then after I get there it will be so easy to continue onto day 17 and into good feelings. Yes!! Finally I will break past those 7-10 days that I always fall off on!!

This time I am doing low GI raw because I have discovered that I feel a million times better without fruit. (I think I have hypoglycemia)

B: Sea-Limeade (Lime juice, stevia, spirulina) beautiful colour
L: Salad w/ disgusting dressing that I threw half of away, handful of almonds
D: Soaked macadamia nuts, hazel nuts, brazil nuts, cilantro/parsley juice (6 bunches of cilantro, 1 bunch italian parsley)

Today was really nut heavy, it was just a quick fix to hunger. I don't think i'm going to want nuts for awhile

But I feel SO EXCITED and already really cool and clear headed!! Gosh, low GI just feels sooo much clearer for me... Take care all!

Crazy day at work so I just sort of grabbed what I could when, but it was all raw.
    B:.......nothing???
L: Onion bread with sprouted sunflower pate and cucumbers.
Snack: Lara bar and my wonderful friend actually had some walnut date balls for me when I dropped by!
S: Two pepperama wraps filled with avocado, peppers, tomatoes, and Snowdrop Ranch dressing. Oh my, so good. Will probably have some more onion bread too.

    Yay for everyone!

Luckily I'm a gourmet raw chef so the food won't be an issue!! But I live in a household of cooked food eaters......so that's my challenge.

Started early too.....100% raw going on to day 4 now. And I feel a million times better already - all the backlog is gone and my tummy is flat again. Waaay more energy and mental clarity - I think you all can feel me on that !! :) And speaking from someone who is not going cold turkey - that extra 25% of effort goes a long way - guess I needed a break from the cooked food. Not tired at my usual bedtime...No intense cravings....only for some stale new potatoes (I know - random?) but happy to say, didn't do it.

Made some amazing raw chocolate with bee pollen that's in the freezer. Think I have to lay off the sweets and go low GI. By the way, Escape Artist, go you for going ALL in!

Everyone eats so simply...I feel like I've been eating a ton compared! Yesterday:

B - soaked oatmeal with raisins, goji and cinnamon (not exactly raw but I guess I cheated here)
S - Sticky halva of sesame seeds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds with honey
L - purple juice of grapes and celery tops
    S -raw chocolate
    S - 3-4 dehydrator trays of apples (!!!)
D - snacking on some salads I was making for clients - chard and carrot + broccoli kale stem

Also been taking some supplements like spirulina, and an anti-parasite powder. Gotta do less sugar tomorrow!

I have a question for anyone who might know...I've been getting some bubbles in my tummy....I don't know if my digestion might be a bit disfunctional...? Even it seems when there's nothing in there, I can feel them in there and try to burp them out (sorry for the gross factor). Does any one else get this? Gotta quell the bubbles - will try some ginger juice, someone let me know if they know what I mean!!

    Keep rawcking, everyone

    Hi Alisa21,

I'm on day 4 also, and I am also experiencing a bubbly tummy. I am guessing it is just a transition. It actually is less today than it was yesterday. Maybe someone with more experience can tell us more?

Otherwise I am feeling great. I had lots of energy for my spinning classes this week and managed to not be tempted at my son's Cub Scouts kickoff party last night. I waited until I got home and had a small salad -- it was too late to eat a bunch.

I got some great organic produce at the farmer's market yesterday. So this morning I had a green smoothie with kale, bean sprouts and the most delicious peaches. For lunch I am having some Armenian cucumber slices (supper big stripped cucumber--never had it before but it is yummy!), black cherry tomatoes, clover/alpha spouts, almonds and coconut flakes.

Dinner will probably be a salad or a blended soup. I also bought some quinoa at the market because I've seen people talk about eating on here. But it looks like it has to be cooked. So is it something I should avoid for these 30 days or is there a way to use it during the raw challenge?

Thanks to all for your support!
