Default new to juicing, need some help/recipes please :)

i really want to do a juice fast/feast. however, i've tried a bunch of juices and i really don't like them! has anyone here done a juice fast/feast with only fruit juices?

for those of you that juice, has it been an aquired taste, or have you liked it from the very begining?

i always see celery & cucumbers in juice and i can't do celery at all. cucumbers i really don't like, i find the taste overpowering and nothing i put with it works for me. i love cucumbers and celery to eat, just not to juice or in smoothies.

can anyone offer me some good, simple recipes? i'm thinking i may be combining too much and that's the problem. i really want to use greens, but so far i can't really do much but spinach. i'm fine with pretty much everything in my green smoothies, but i guess juicing is different.

today i tried cucumber, spinach, apple, pear & bit of lemon. that was probably the best one i've had so far, but i really didn't care for it.

i've tried carrot, kale, cucumber, apple & lime (didn't like it, but drank it with a straw! lol)
another i tried was cucumber, watermelon, apple, grapefruit (couldn't even drink this one, the grapefruit was way too much)

i've tried a few others but haven't liked them either.

please help, i really want to juice but need a bit of guidance. thank you!

see how you like carrot, apple and celery - I do about 3-4 apples, 4-6 carrots and two sticks celery. Add a squeeze of lemon and half a beetroot.

I think it's a good starter juice. Sweet and savoury and with not too much celery. I too am not happy with juiced cucumbers. Love them in chunks though.

I am currently on day 5 of doing only fruit juices. I do juice peeled beets and add them to one of the juices though. To check out the fruits that I use in my juices check out my blog. The link is in my signature line. Let me know if that helps!

There is a great Juice Sticky in the fasting section you should check out!

    My favs while fasting:

    apple/pear/ginger

    tomato/ginger/celery/curry

    grapefruit

I found in my first couple fasts that sticking with one thing I knew I liked got me through.

i never combine it ruins taste to me . though i do make tomatoe juice with other things in it , but not much . garlic clove and parsley mostly because it improves taste . this time of yeat juicing the apple crop is great . next come oranges . this is great time to juice crops being harvested . another is obviously tomato

My daughter and my favorite recipe is: 4 carrots, 4 stalks celery, 2 oranges, 2 apples, 1 1/2 lemon, and a nice chunk of ginger. This makes about 2.5 pints. Some times I leave the celery and/or ginger out. I have this in the morning and night with a heaping teaspoon of spirulina.

Acquired taste? Yes and no. When a lot of people first start juicing, they used a minimal amount of green vegs and a lot of fruit to help with the taste. Even then they thought that the juice was just ok. But the more they drank, the more the taste grew on them. Those same people even started to use LESS fruit and MORE greens. Some even advanced to very minimal fruit and lots of greens.

My juice usually consists of: carrots, apple, spinach, wheat grass, dandelion leaves, cucumber. For me this is really good. BUT, this recipe, which seems very tame: 4 carrots, handful of spinach, 1 apple, 1/2" ginger , 1/4 tsp cinnamon...this one I don't care for. Sometimes, it is just one ingredient that ruins it.

Try the recipe that "Sacrifice" suggested but leave out the celery since you do not like it. I would even suggest leaving out the ginger (for now). Just use the carrots, oranges, apples and a little lemon.

For you, I would suggest some of the recipes given on this site, especially start with minimal amounts of ingredients. Have you ever tried straight carrot juice? If you are "fair" with that, then add an apple to it. Find one you like and then slowly add some minimal greens that you DO like. Get accustomed to it and then add some more greens.

thank you. yesterday i tried 2 carrots, 3 apples & some water and that was fine to drink.
today i'm going to try orange, pineapple & maybe add some spinach.

this is going to take me a bit longer then i had hoped, figuring out juices i like, but that's ok. i just want to be prepared with juices i like, so i don't set myself up for failure doing a juice fast/feast.

thank you to everyone that replied! maybe next month i'll be over on the fasting thread! :)

edit: just made the pinapple, orange & spinach & i can finally say i love a juice! lol i could have added more spinach & made it even greener, but did 1 cup spinach, a few pineapple chunks & a small orange. :)
