Default First time juicing, for real

So today was my first real attempt at an all vegan day, I had like 3 apples half a bundle of celery, banana, orange and a bottle of carrot juice (which I paid six bucks for) before realizing it was flash pasteurized. Seriously, has there been a single case in history of someone dying of carrot poisoning?

I made it till dinner until I caved but I had some high energy all day long, specially considering I was running errands since ten am (early for me, hey)

So the real corker is I picked up a cheapo juicer at the local thrift store for next to nothing just to get an idea as to what I'm in for before I invest real money.

I put some cucumber, spinach, celery & apple into it and topped it off with some of the carrot juice for taste. The taste was a little off putting at first, but nothing I couldn't work with. Thing I don't understand is 10-15 minutes later my body is sayin: stop drinkin this stuff. I can't even finish what was originally about a cup and a half of juice?

Is this sort of reaction normal? I don't feel sick to my stomach per-se, I had no reaction to large amounts of vegetables by themselves, nor the carrot juice alone. The only variable really is the spinach, but then again, I've eaten massive bowls of raw spinach salad with no problems at all. I love raw spinach.

I'm stumped, perhaps my body is just not ready for this level of un-inhibited vitamin consumption. Is this normal? Also within about 20 minutes I crashed big time, as in I almost passed out in the middle of a conversation with someone.

you caved because you didn't eat enough during the day.

as to the juice, I can't stand cucumber juice. If you left out the cucumber and added a half a lemon, juiced you might find that better. I find about 3/4 pint plenty at one go and don't like it much if I keep it, even in the fridge.

But I love raw cucumber's just the same, does juicing alter something in that respect?

don't know. All I do know is that I love them in crunchy chunks but juiced they make me feel sick as a parrot and they taste horrible (to me).

I've just begun juicing as well, and I am noticing certain fruits or veggies I adore in whole form are sometimes too rich as juice so they have to be toned down a bit in order for me to find them appealing to drink. I too love cucumbers, and the juice has a stronger taste.I At first watermelon juice tasted funny to me, but now I am beginning to love it. I think when the body adjusts to different tastes the more raw you encorporate your palate will develop differently than before. I used to gag at the taste of kale, now I eat whole bunches at a time!

and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.

I can eat cucumber, but if it is in a juice it makes me want to gag.

Check out my blog (other than the one on here). I am just getting started, but I promise that it will get better as time goes on!
