Blendtec Question for a newb

Hello, everyone!

I am just now getting into raw food. I'm looking into getting a new high powered blender, and have been planning on getting a refurb Vitamix. However, then I ran across this new deal listed below.

$250 for a Blendtec. Sounds great. I have heard things about the Blendtec Total Blender being very good, and other blendtec models lacking compared to the vitamix. My question is, what model is this? I couldn't find it on their website. Is this an older, lacking model, or is it more than adequate like the new blendtecs? With the price difference, and my finances, I leaning toward getting this Blendtec, but I can't find any info on this particular model, and don't want to make a mistake that I will regret.

Get the Vita Mix. There are LOTS of threads here comparing the BT and the VM. The VM wins every time. (I've got both and I only use my VM unless I'm traveling)

Just put "Blendec ICB3 Smoother" in Google. I'd be more concerned about the company's warranty if any.

I know the vitamix is better. I guess what I really want some input in, is if your funds were limited, is it $150 better? If I opt for the Blendtec in this instance, I would have enough extra money to afford a juicer as well. I know I can use a nut milk bag, but It'd be a whole lot easier to have a juicer.

Is $150 better? Depends on what you're getting. If you get something that's going to break down 3 months after you have it; or, if nothing else, you've got to spend more money shipping it back (IF the warranty even covers it)....

Consider this... I had my first VM for about 15 years. I think at that time I paid about $350 for it brand new. 350 divided by 15 equals.. so, my VM cost me about $25/year, yes? I sold it for $150... still in GREAT condition. I only buy top of the line because I like stuff to last.

Know this ~ you don't have to have everything all at once. You may think you need both yet, which are you going to use most? Blender takes MUCH less time to use and clean.

Question for you Revvell. There's been a lot of talk about Angel juicers which have a top of the range price tag for sure. Would you think the price was a good investment or would you choose a lower priced, albeit still very good juicer?

One day I hope to get a vitamix :)

I bought a refurbished vitamx about 3 or 4 years ago. It looked brand new when I got it. Customer service was great. I run that machine several times a day. I love it. I would be ordering another if anything happened to.

I personally know the guy who own's Blendtec, he goes to my church.

In fact me and my fiancee are getting a blender and a bread mixer for free for our wedding! We're both excited, my fiancee's parent's own one and it works like a charm. As long as the mix is not too thick, it has a good vortexing action and it can chew up ice cubes and other tough veggies easily. The model you linked is actually a commercial brand, I've seen a couple of them at the local juice press shop but I dunno if they are available to regular customers. Maybe I can talk to him on sunday and find out.

Sorry my friend. I have no clue. I've never heard of or tried an Angel juicer. I've had a couple of Champions, two Green Stars and currently a Samson and wont speak on something I've not personally used.

No, they can't. I could at the time, so did and those, I can speak of. Never tried Breville; have a BlendTec and a VM currently. I always say, go for the VM!!!!

Oh! Well, juicers and blenders are very different creatures. Uhhh, I see, $990. There's one juicer... can't remember the name, that, last time I saw it, it was running about $2200. My teacher tried that one, the Champion, the Green Power and, one other that was about $1500 at the time. He chose the Green Power for the dryness of the the pulp, the ease of use and cleaning. Last I heard, he got rid of that (I received it) and got another Champion.

I get mine from freecycle or go without at the moment. The centrifugal juicer that is part of my FP broke although the citrus bit of it still works. So I have a dead cheap throw away one :)
