Hey all...
Alisa, that cake sounds delish! When you say soft dates do you mean you soaked them or just picked the squishiest of the bunch?
Lucy - Good job with your dinner! That's always been the hardest part for me. Even if I'm not craving I always feel a bit silly when I explain that I'm going raw YET AGAIN. But your vegan friends are probably more accepting of the raw than my SAD ones.
Denise - I'm sad to hear you have to quit fruit! Will you be able to eat more of it when the candida calms down? Sorry I don't know much about candida.
Georgina - I think it's just awesome that you still ride around in the rain. Most people would use that as an excuse to drive or bus or cab!
Bonnie - tee hee that smoothie does sound rather awful. I learned the hard way as well that not everything healthy should go in a smoothie. I once made a smoothie with avocado, sea weed, berries, spirulina, and greens I think. I had no produce left so i just winged it. To make a long story short, I dumped it down the toilet. It was just too nasty!
Katchmoleen - Congrats on your raw camping! And congrats to your little one for catching his first fish! Have fun at your retreat and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I have the day off! yay! I'm going to go make myself some carrot, orange and ginger juice and it's going to be so darned good! Then I'm going thrist store shopping with a girl friend and we'll probably go for lunch and I'll probably have to tell her I'm raw. For some reason, since I've tried and failed so many times, I don't like to tell people until I've done it for a few weeks. maybe I can convince her to come back to my place to make a big salad and I'll just tell her I'm eating 'healthy'. People seem to find that so much more acceptable. It's funny. When someone mentions they are quitting smoking people are so happy for them and supportive of them, but when people say that are quitting cooked food it's usually a different story. On the bright side my folks are more than supportive about it. I got my parents to watch food matters and now they are like 70% raw and totally vegan! My siblings are more resistant but they at least let me be and don't try to convince me that I'm doing the worng thing.
Anyways, this quick little morning post is getting a little long winded so I'm going to make that juice I've been drooling about all morning! Have a lovely day!

totally addicted to salad at the moment. can't seem to get enough of it. LOL ahhhh what a great addiction to have.
my main foods at this time: snap peas, swiss chard, figs and an organic cherry tomato mix from whole foods. i put it into a bowl on the counter and it's my 'candy dish'. i munch on them throughout the day! mmmm good.

you are so right queenkel. When I quit smoking (almost 5 yrs. ago), people were so supportive. I still get compliments to this day. But when you change your eating habits, they look at you like you've lost your mind. Perhaps (IMHO) it's 'cause they feel threatened by their poor food choices. By watching me eat healthy, they feel guilty. Guilty because they THINK they can't do it.
Also, all the "food" occasions they enjoy....thanksgiving,bar-b-ques, canoe trips with hoagies and chips, etc. My own family members have said they would rather die than give up grilling their dead animal carcuses. Sad, because, they will die. We all will. Just some sooner than others, some suffering more than others.
My morning smoothie: banana, blues, and pineapple
lunch: watermelon wedges
dinner: my simple salad
snack: perhaps more watermelon since I bought 3 today. I love this time of year!!
Peace, Bonnie

Queenkel,
I have to ride around in the rain really because my bf is working away at the moment and he has our only vehicle. A cab would be so expensive that it would eat up probably half my day's pay. The bus is an option and come the snow and sleet, I will probably take it but it is awesomely slow and doesn't stop in sensible places.
Munching on cut-price nectarines and tomatoes and seriously thinking about bed (18:18!)
A number of people in work have nasty bugs and I feel as though I am fighting something off so not 100% but a whole bunch better than they are :)

checking in ... !
alisa21 ... i live along the Hamakua Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii... and your cake sounds delish! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
bonzer... gotta try avos! they are wonderful in salads - and also make a mean chocolate pudding! Hey - I didn't know pineapple is supposed to be good for arthritis! that's good to know!
I tell ya I learn so much on this forum!
katchmoleen... Haaaapy Birthday!
MysticTree... you amaze me... ! How far do you have to ride to get to work? Will you bf be back soon so you wont have to be riding in the rain much longer? stay healthy girl! hope you don't come down with anything!
queenkel... i know how you feel. Even in the 'raw food community' I often felt judged. when anyone would find out I'm a 'raw foodie'... the FIRST comment is ALWAYS - "HOW raw are you? Are you ALL raw? 100%...? if not - what percentage would you say you are?"
that just irritated me - I felt like I was always having to explain myself. So I stopped saying I was a raw foodie... instead I call myself a 'Healthy Food Eater". and funny - no one EVER asked me 'what percent healthy are you?'....
It's always good to remind ourselves -- it's a journey -- it's not a 'beam me up Scotty' and "I'm THERE' ... it's a work in progress... sometimes we eat healthier than others - but our goal is be healthy ALWAYS!
ok.. now as for me - I spent the day swimming in our swimming hole and exploring our stream... took the dogs with me and we had a blast. lunch was salad w/avocado & pesto. Oh!! AND my hubby ate raw with me last night! yeah!
HUGE colorful salad with pesto stuffed mushrooms, sprouted quinoa and raw corn on the cob..mmmmmm yuum!!
i have no clue what's for dinner... probably salad again -- like Aleesha - I'm lovin the salads right now! I love beautiful colorful food!

Υes it does seem to be going by fast. And so far staying raw hasn't been difficult at all for me. In fact I love it!!
