Tomato Basil Cream Sauce
Yield about 1 1/4 quarts or 5 cups
2 1/2 pounds ripe tomatoes
1/2 cup packed fresh basil leaves
3/4 cup raw cashews
1/4 cup raw pine nuts
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
sea salt (to taste)
Wash and cut the whole tomatoes into large chunks (the skins, seeds, and core go in the sauce). Add the tomatoes, basil, cashews, pine nuts, olive oil, and a few pinches of salt to the blender (or Vita-Mix). Blend until silky smooth. Taste and adjust salt, if necessary. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
as long as all the ingredients you use are raw then the result is raw. So ... with this one you mention, the only thing that doesn't state it's raw is the oil. Choose a raw oil and truly raw nuts and it's fine.

raw olive oil, are there substitutes, is it necessary?

How do you know if your olive oil is raw? Does it need to mention raw on the label? I was hoping to make this for dinner over raw zucchini and yellow squash. If I am unable to find raw olive oil, is there a good substitute, or will it be fine without?
I am about to eat an entire box of Flackers, but at least they are raw. LOL.

I get cold-pressed from my supermarket. I am assured it has seen no heat in its production. All I can do is hope they are telling me the truth!

The other point I should have made is that for the sake of actually eating dinner then 1 tbsp of non-raw oil is surely ok! Just look out for a really nice raw one - I get mine unfiltered too as I like the flavour - if you want to use oil in lots of things. If you only use it occasionally then a little non-raw every now and then is better than starving and then falling on really, really sad food like KFC!!!

Good morning all. It's almost fall. Feels so crisp outside...50* instead of 90*
Going to kitchen right now to get my break-fast on. Pineapple/strawberry/banana smoothie
Then lunch is a salad with a banana as a snack
Not sure for dinner....maybe a large fruit salad with my georgous grapes/figs/pears I got from farmers market on Saturday.
Hope everyone else is having a rawsome almost autumn day!!
Peace, Bonnie (who loves blueberries) Day 20 100% raw

Hi Bonnie - yep, autumn has definitely arrived. I love this time of year ... so pretty. I had fruit for breakfast (strawberries, soaked goji berries, grapes and a banana) - and am planning a Green Smoothie for lunch :-)
-
forgot to bring my kale salad to work this morning. So a rather limited lunch of watercress and romaine with raw dressing. I had a melon for breakfast and there is still one melon I can eat this afternoon before leaving work. Will stop off at the shop to get some avos and bits for a glolumptious supper!

good morning
This morning I packed a large fruit salad with 1 mango, 3 bananas, a container of strawberries, 1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds, and 1 avocado. This is what I am munching on right now. I don't have a plan yet for the rest of the day.
Georgina, thanks for letting me know about the olive oil. I am not sure what kind I have, but I'll look for something cold pressed, since I think surely raw is better because of the enzymes.
Today is day #3 and I am going strong. I had a beet salad last night with 2 beets, 1/2 red onion, and 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar. It was okay, not great but good enough. Last night I had severe cravings. Thankfully I chose to stay raw.
My husband pointed out to me last night that my face is breaking out. Plus, I've been having really bad gas.

Oh my....MysticTree aka Georgina is a tree now!!! I see sprouts and leafs alot, but not trees!! Let's keep building this forest everyone!
Congrats Georgina for hanging in here so long. You are a role model for us. Thank you for all your posts and insights.....and great recipes, lol.
I just had a raw cocoa mix (raw agave, cocoa, peppermint and raisins) yummy.
Now I'm making my afternoon smoothie for later with pinapple/mango/banana
Dinner will be a tomato/basil (from my garden) and red onion salad

Heavens and I didn't even notice!

it's so dark in the mornings now. I have to get some better lights for my bike.
Melon for breakfast. Lunch is a bit slim but lettuce, tomatoes, avo and dressing should suffice and i'll get some bits and bobs on my way home.
My mother is visiting tomorrow afternoon and the weekend is getting a little bit closer. I'm looking forward to the weekend!

Enjoyed what's probably the last of the strawberries for breakfast - about to juice up carrot, apple, beetroot and ginger by way of a snack - and some onion bread and hummus for lunch. I think I may be forming a serious relationship with the juicer :-)

That's so funny amoux!! I am getting real close to my blender this last month!
Had a great day off with DH today. No non-raw food issues came up. He actually asked ME what foods I could get at a quaint coffee shop he likes to visit. I said "I'm good, I just had a salad for lunch not long ago.) In the past I would have scoped out all the fresh pastries that were just displayed.
Tonight I ate some local cantelope.....NJ is in it's melon season now. I am in bliss.
Peace, Bonnie

I love melon ... not many around right now for some reason. Well done at the coffee shop - that's really encouraging to hear.
All going pretty well here - just juiced up a mid-morning snack of beetroot, apple, carrot and orange - I forgot to add the ginger, but the orange in the mix gives it a really nice kick! Green Smoothie for lunch I think - I've started putting in savoy cabbage, and it's fine tastewise but seems to make the texture a bit odd - thick and kind of starchy, in some way. I'll try blending at a higher speed today.

Managed to get some more strawberries at the weekend, so I can carry on having those at breakfast. Juicing still going strong - have got the sweetest, juiciest oranges that I can remember at the moment - and they are so zesty and delicious. Beautiful autumn weather, enjoying the sun and the eaves changing colour.
Now, time to get on the Gazelle!
