    congrats on the 29 days

I think I've had only one or two dreams where non-raw foods feature. As you say, it's nice to wake up!

I got some nicely priced broccoli when I was out this morning. Sliced it up and put it to marinate in a honey dressing with sliced red onion from the garden. So delicious that I had some right away sprinkled with raw shelled hemp. The rest will have softened in time for my supper!

I just made another mushroom and walnut pate, and then decided to try making some kale chips - which are now in the dehydrator. The dogs are most intrigued by the smell and keep wandering into the kitchen with longing looks on their faces - well, they're Labradors, which makes them mobile food disposal units anyway :-)

That sounds delicious Georgina! Can you tell me what else is in the dressing othere than honey? It's funny but I got some broccoli today for a really good price too. I juiced the stems this morning, and kept the florets to steam for the kids. Now I think I want to try marinating them. Yummy!

Speaking of dreams, a couple of days ago I dreamed I was eating chicken. That is so weird because I havne't had chicken in 15 years, red meat either. I wonder if that means I'm not getting enough protein. I'd better make some sprouts.
But yeah, I was really glad to wake up!

just made a huge batch of massaged kale salad.

    INGREDIENTS:-
    200g kale
    4 medium carrots, grated
    2 largish courgettes, grated
1 small red onion (I may add another one later), chopped
    honey dressing listed previously

    EQUIPMENT:-
Very large bowl - to make the salad in
    Knife
    Grater or food processor
    chopping board
Smaller bowl - to store it in, in the fridge

take out main ribs of the kale and slice into ribbons about 1/4 inch wide.
Pour on enough dressing to do a little more than coat the kale and then get in with your hands and squish and squeezed that kale with your hands until the volume reduces to about half
Mix in the ready prepared other veggies and add more dressing if needed; bear in mind a fair amount of liquid will come from the veggies so you shouldn't need to add more and you can always add more when it's on the plate.

I served mine with slices of tomato and an avo chopped up and sprinkled over the top.

Lunch today was avo with watercress and kale salad and quite a lot of tomatoes (Norfolk Temptation - v. good!).

After I finished I had the most amazing flavours in my mouth and was quite sad to be at the end of it. I could have eaten it over again just for the flavour. Bliss.

Hello. I'm new to raw. This is my 2nd day of 100% raw. After eating raw til lunch for about a month, I decided to commit to being to 100% raw for 30 days. I hope to loose some weight and look and feel better. Yesterday was hard, I ate a lot but still had some hunger during the day. This morning I woke up tired, weighed myself and my weight was up by about half a pound. Is it normal to gain weight and feel tired when first starting out?

It's perfectly normal for weight to fluctuate anyway regardless of whether you are trying to lose weight or not. Just ignore the scales for a while and it will come good.

Eat when you are hungry and don't worry about what it is or how much just concentrate on it being raw and getting accustomed to eating that way.

    Default thanks, MysticTree

I will eat when hungry and not worry about how much I'm eating. You're right, the important thing is that it's raw. So, I'll just eat whatever I want as long as it's 100% raw. This morning I made a green smoothie with a bunch of cilantro, a cored pineapple, and half a cucumber. It was really good. Cilantro is my favorite herb. I took half to work with me and will have the other half when I get home. I brought with me also the other half of the cucumber, flax seed crackers (raw of course), and five bananas. I believe in the healing powers of raw food, but I worry about the negative things I read/hear about this way of life, for instance how hard it is to get your nutrients and how it leads to tooth decay. So, I figured I would give raw a 30-day trial and if I feel great at the end of my 30 days I'll continue.

only vitaminB-12 is really an issue and as to tooth decay, just look after your teeth.

    Default Is this raw?

This is a recipe I found online. Is it raw?

    Tomato Basil Cream Sauce

Yield about 1 1/4 quarts or 5 cups

    2 1/2 pounds ripe tomatoes
1/2 cup packed fresh basil leaves
    3/4 cup raw cashews
    1/4 cup raw pine nuts
    1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
    sea salt (to taste)

Wash and cut the whole tomatoes into large chunks (the skins, seeds, and core go in the sauce). Add the tomatoes, basil, cashews, pine nuts, olive oil, and a few pinches of salt to the blender (or Vita-Mix). Blend until silky smooth. Taste and adjust salt, if necessary. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
