Default Sept 2011 - 30 Day Challenge. Join any time of the month!!!

    Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge and welcome to our new monthly format.

This is our monthly challenge thread. We are choosing to do one (or perhaps split into two) continual threads so we can create a community of support within this challenge. You can join this thread at any time during the month. Don't be shy... we love new posters!!! So if you want to join us... please do!

I welcome people who are already 100% raw to join in the conversation - supporting our challengers in their quest!

This thread is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to 30 consecutive days of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

I will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month. If I forget... send me a quick email and remind me... I'll get the challenge thread online for you quickly.

The focus of the monthly challenge is on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, don't beat yourself up over it or dwell on it - but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going! This thread is about celebrating what you are eating that IS raw!

I welcome you all to share pics of your dishes, ask questions, share what you are consuming (as long as it's raw). We are here to listen to your emotional and physical challenges. So share share share!!!

OH and the best part of this (not only the support but...) you can subscribe to this thread and get notified every time someone posts to it. This way you will be connected!

So let's get this party started!!!

Here's to the next 30 days.

Month 5 for me and only one day in that time where I have been less than 100% - yesterday. Back on track for me now.

I am starting my second week of being raw. I had a great first week. I lost 3 kilos, 7 lbs. I have had 2 glasses of juice, melon, I wanted to eat it but it was not sweet enough, apple, carrot, ginger and broccoli, not the best juice. then I had a huge salad with sweet peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms. Its still early here so I will post the remainder of my day later.

    So far so good!!
Yesterday I went out to dinner with some vegan friends, and I felt totally okay eating my grapes while they had cooked foood and desert.
Today I had a dandelion carrot and tomato juice, an almond mylk banana, hemp protein and vanilla smoothie, about 15 figs, a few handfulls of cashews, and a cucumber.
For dinner I'll have a green salad with lentil sprouts avocado and nori.
Maybe some banana ice cream too.

    Hey all...

Alisa, that cake sounds delish! When you say soft dates do you mean you soaked them or just picked the squishiest of the bunch?

Lucy - Good job with your dinner! That's always been the hardest part for me. Even if I'm not craving I always feel a bit silly when I explain that I'm going raw YET AGAIN. But your vegan friends are probably more accepting of the raw than my SAD ones.

Denise - I'm sad to hear you have to quit fruit! Will you be able to eat more of it when the candida calms down? Sorry I don't know much about candida.

Georgina - I think it's just awesome that you still ride around in the rain. Most people would use that as an excuse to drive or bus or cab!

Bonnie - tee hee that smoothie does sound rather awful. I learned the hard way as well that not everything healthy should go in a smoothie. I once made a smoothie with avocado, sea weed, berries, spirulina, and greens I think. I had no produce left so i just winged it. To make a long story short, I dumped it down the toilet. It was just too nasty!

Katchmoleen - Congrats on your raw camping! And congrats to your little one for catching his first fish! Have fun at your retreat and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I have the day off! yay! I'm going to go make myself some carrot, orange and ginger juice and it's going to be so darned good! Then I'm going thrist store shopping with a girl friend and we'll probably go for lunch and I'll probably have to tell her I'm raw. For some reason, since I've tried and failed so many times, I don't like to tell people until I've done it for a few weeks. maybe I can convince her to come back to my place to make a big salad and I'll just tell her I'm eating 'healthy'. People seem to find that so much more acceptable. It's funny. When someone mentions they are quitting smoking people are so happy for them and supportive of them, but when people say that are quitting cooked food it's usually a different story. On the bright side my folks are more than supportive about it. I got my parents to watch food matters and now they are like 70% raw and totally vegan! My siblings are more resistant but they at least let me be and don't try to convince me that I'm doing the worng thing.

Anyways, this quick little morning post is getting a little long winded so I'm going to make that juice I've been drooling about all morning! Have a lovely day!

    checking in ... !

alisa21 ... i live along the Hamakua Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii... and your cake sounds delish! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

bonzer... gotta try avos! they are wonderful in salads - and also make a mean chocolate pudding! Hey - I didn't know pineapple is supposed to be good for arthritis! that's good to know!

I tell ya I learn so much on this forum!

    katchmoleen... Haaaapy Birthday!

MysticTree... you amaze me... ! How far do you have to ride to get to work? Will you bf be back soon so you wont have to be riding in the rain much longer? stay healthy girl! hope you don't come down with anything!

queenkel... i know how you feel. Even in the 'raw food community' I often felt judged. when anyone would find out I'm a 'raw foodie'... the FIRST comment is ALWAYS - "HOW raw are you? Are you ALL raw? 100%...? if not - what percentage would you say you are?"
that just irritated me - I felt like I was always having to explain myself. So I stopped saying I was a raw foodie... instead I call myself a 'Healthy Food Eater". and funny - no one EVER asked me 'what percent healthy are you?'....

It's always good to remind ourselves -- it's a journey -- it's not a 'beam me up Scotty' and "I'm THERE' ... it's a work in progress... sometimes we eat healthier than others - but our goal is be healthy ALWAYS!

ok.. now as for me - I spent the day swimming in our swimming hole and exploring our stream... took the dogs with me and we had a blast. lunch was salad w/avocado & pesto. Oh!! AND my hubby ate raw with me last night! yeah!
HUGE colorful salad with pesto stuffed mushrooms, sprouted quinoa and raw corn on the cob..mmmmmm yuum!!

i have no clue what's for dinner... probably salad again -- like Aleesha - I'm lovin the salads right now! I love beautiful colorful food!

    everyone have a RAWmacious Day!!

avo with tomatoes, watercress, rocket and little gem lettuce
A simple huge salad but I am pleased to say that I have no cravings in areas that are non-raw

I need to finish my produce shopping this morning but I did get 3 pounds of kale at the farmer's market yesterday (the farmer isn't certified organic but he is organic, hurray!) and I froze some blueberries a couple months ago so I had a green smoothie with kale, banana, blueberries and a tiny bit of flax seed.

I made some of the Ani Phyo coconut pudding this morning so later I might make a parfait with that and buckwheaties and whatever fruit I buy today. Also hoping to find a ripe avocado for some kale salad.

I'm trying to plan ahead because leaving room to wonder what to eat is usually where I fail.

I'm in. 100%. This will be my first attempt to eat a raw vegan diet! Cant wait to see how it goes. I'm also a full time student so this should be interesting. I just think I need a HUGE kickstart to healthy!

I have been probably wanting to eat 100% raw for half of my life but currently am at 80%. That 20% brings me down and I want to do 100%. It helps to have other people doing something with you. It gives me inspiration and motivation. I am ready and excited.
