    Question First time sprouting

Ok, so I bought a mason jar and some seed mixture from this seed store. I am following the directions (it's day three) and the seeds are starting to sprout. I rinse twice a day and pour the water out then set on the counter, it says to do this for a few days. NOW, how will I know when it's ready? Do I just eat it like that, if so, there seems to be so little in the mason jar, how much do I eat? Do I need to buy a few mason jars, how many do you have? One seed type per jar (I mean, can you mix different seeds?)? Do you get the seeds from a health food store? I feel like a total idiot!

So funny, I remember the first time I sprouted in a Mason Jar. I put so many seeds in there, I couldn't get them out after I sprouted them. Eat them when they look like the sprouts you buy at the store. You can eat them as they are. They will have a nice sweet taste. I guess you can mix different seeds. I never tried it. I got my seeds from the health food store.
don't feel bad. How many people have ever sprouted things in there kitchen...with the intention of just eating sprouts? I never heard of it myself until I started looking into raw. I bought more than one Mason jar. I have seeds sprouting at intervals.
You can also order seeds online. google sprouting. Did you buy Alissa's book? she has a nice section on sprouts.

Different types of seeds have different germination and growth rates, so I think you should use only one type per jar unless you know they have identical times for soaking, germination, and growth to edible stage.

I mix different seeds all the time and they do fine. (radish, alfalfa, clover, fenugreek, broccoli, cabbage, etc).
You can eat them at any stage ... newly sprouted with tiny tails right up to full sized sprouts with leaves. I munch on them and put them in salads at every stage.

I started with mason jars and they work well. But took up way too much space to tip them between rinses, so I now use the easy sprout containers -- better airflow and stackable so they take up very little space. But it doesn't matter what container you use .. just eat them up as they grow and enjoy. Sprouts are fantastic!
    Cheers
