Pregnant and need help starting on raw
I'm 29 weeks pregnant with twins and have been thinking of going raw for a while, but now I can't stand anything cooked and pick at saled stuff all day.
I'd really appreciate some help and advice in going raw in a good healthy way for myself and my twins.
Also are there any pregnancy specific raw food books out there?
All help and advice greatfully received xxx

Hi. I am also pregnant with twins and while I am not 100 percent raw, good luck with you and the rawness, I would try Dr. Gabriel Cousens Book, Conscious eating which has recipes inside for pregnant women. One thing that I do have every morning, esp now that I am on bed rest (30weeks pregnant now), is a green smoothie with whatever fruits and veggies I have at home. Have you tried nutmeat, or even seed meat if you want to cut down on the nuts. Try limited gourmet foods esp if you don't have a dehydrator or Vita mix or even juicer. For me I had to tell a nutritionist how a raw food vegan eats since her idea was to incorporate more dairy and even animal flesh which is one I will never do (even if I had cravings). I don't know how far along you are in your pregnancy but the most important thing for me, besides getting vegan iron and prenatal is to drink lots of water. Having twins is not easy on the body and dehydration can cause early labor. See what works with you esp with foods and make little sandwiches with nori wraps, spinach wraps, lots of smoothies (esp in this heat), frozen desserts, taco salads (all depends on your equipment) and little bit size snacks. Good Luck

Get your blood work check to see if you are low in anything thing. Not just iron or b12 check but also vitamin A etc...
Do a lot of fresh berries in the morning and fruits.
Add Goji berries in your smoothie for the iron. Typically you need vitamin C to absorb the iron. Goji is rich in vitamin C and Iron.
Do green smoothie.
Take chia seed or hempseed for the omega 3 (hempseed contain also omega6)
You need a food diet rich in mineral. Green are great to built and vegetables.
If you decide to supplement with B12 (chlorella is rich in B12 good for the human body) or get a Methylcoblamin or Hydroxocobalamin B12. The cyanocoblamnin does no good to us, our body won't utilize.
Your are doing the right thing to go on raw food, you baby inside will grow with wonderful nutrients inside of you.
Many blessings to you and i pray for a wonderful delivery and a perfect healthy baby.
All is well
Blessings and love

I have found there is a severe lack of information out there. I lost my last pregnancy(not raw related), and i am preggo again. this time I am planning on sticking 100% vegan and at least 80% raw if i can. I will be keeping track of it on my blog. http://rawfoodmama.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone!! I am pregnant with twins also! I am 10 weeks along. I was not raw before pregnancy but have been now and then throughout the years. Now that I am pregnant I am trying my best to nourish my babies in the best way possible. Fortunately, all I really want to eat right now is fruit and veg! A couple weeks ago all i could stomach was plain chicken and nothing else. The one thing I noticed I really cannot eat is grains or any starchy foods. I did have really bad morning sickness that has just recently stopped with medication. I hate to take anything while pregnant but I know that this is for only for a few more weeks and its helping me stay hydrated and keep some food down.
I would love to be high raw with mostly fruit and veg but if I am feeling like i need to eat meat or anything else I will. The problem is the pressure to gain weight with twins and eat everything. I keep hearing this book by Dr Lukes on multiples like it is the bible for pregnancy with twins. She promotes a lot of weight gain and eating tons of protein in any form. She says to drink milkshakes and eat burgers! EAT EAT EAT. I know it is important to nourish the twins and try to grow them as much as possible in case they are early....but really! I dont think it is healthy to eat all the junk you can find!!!
I am feeling very confused about all the information on twin pregnancy.
PLEASE let me know how you ladies are doing and how you are eating. If there are any twin moms with some experience I would love advice. Thanks!

Oh I would like to add this is my 2nd pregnancy. I also have a beautiful 4 year old daughter. With my first pregnancy I gained way too much weight and ate everything I wanted without thinking! My pregnancy was really hard, ending in high blood pressure and being induced into a 36 hour labor. After I lost so much blood that I needed 2 blood transfusions. I know that if I did not gain the large amount of weight my pregnancy would have been better. I was young and living off of FAST FOOD! HELLO! Of course I got fat and had high blood pressure! Before I got pregnant I was in great shape and was young and healthy. I will not go through that again and want to have the healthiest and happiest pregnancy!

well im not pregnant with twins but im doing a 100% raw and i feel much better , my baby moves a lot more then he used to when i was doing vegan . this is only day 10 but i feel much better , more energy and my skin hair and nails have become so much more healthier ... longer stronger nails , hair is shiny and strong , my exzyma (tottally misspelt that ) in my hand is gone . my hands are starting to look human again .
i have been having a daily juice of orange , grapefruit, carrot , apple , a clove of garlic ( one per 32 oz ) , and reccently i have been adding cucumber !! a green smoothie or two everyday ( pear , banana , spinach , mixed lettuce greens , an orange , and a big kale leaf ) . and one heavy nut meal per day ( raw cookies , raw walnut chocolate , sushi , and things like that . ) i have also been consuming a lot of zuccihinni lately . it just tastes so good . i make noodles out of it for soups , use it in zuccihinni mac and cheeze , and things like that .
prenatals are up to u , scince ur having twins its propably a safer bet if u take them ( i literally cant stomach them so i just up my greens and vitamens through my food . ) listen to ur body . if ur getting sick off of anything cooked it might be best to dive headfirst into raw . all or nothing . b/c i had a very simalar story . i couldnt hold down anything unless it was raw so i cleaned out my house of cooked items and went shopping for all of the raw stuff . i am so glad i did and i tell u it is so worth it . good luck hope this helps .

Thanks ladies, I was 29 weeks preg when I posted but a week later I gave birth to my beautiful twin sons.
Due to things being very hectic I've not started raw yet but plan to in the new year.
I'll take all your advice and use it as will still be a great help as I'm exclusively breastfeeding them ;-D
Thank you everyone and good look to the other preg twin mummy's, it's hard work, stressful but also soooooo amazing having twins xxxx

u might already know this but ... when u go through detox , the twins will a bit too . as long as u dont do a juice fast or anything extreme the detox symptons should be very light ... i would just eat raw get ur greens in (garlic is great for immune boost ) , lots of fruit will make the breast milk sweet even with the garlic . if u do herbs or hearbal teas i would go with milk thistle tea . this is a natural way to improve ur breast milk and increase it as well . a great thing to think about taking (so u dont have to take a prenatal ) is raw liquid vitamens ... they normally sell this at a whole foods store . it is also online as well , so sorry i dont remember the actual name of this liquid raw vitamen but i have used it as a teenager and it is really really good . replaces the energy u would get from a cup of coffee , has just about every thing u need in it ... b12 , and things along that line . good luck to u and may ur family grow in health and love .
