    Default Hello from Pensacola

Hello all! I have yet to "start" the raw food diet/way of living. My wife and I have been doing so much research and realize that this is really the way you are meant to eat. We came to small realizations of how the SAD has almost ruined life as we know it. When my wife and I were just pondering the idea of raw food, we realized.....why do we eat so much meat? Back in "the day", there was not really any meat eaten. It was so hard to come by! I'm sure that our ancestors had even eaten sprouts by accident as they didn't even realize they were germinated and growing...living. They just saw it as food and not letting it go to waste! Then we realized we are the ONLY "animal" that really cooks food. Whats the purpose? All other animals are healthy (wild, not commercially farm raised)! Then we realized that we are also the only "animal" that still drinks milk....we though "odd". This is just going to be great for us. Any who, enough about that, now its time for who I am.

My name is Joshua. I am twenty years old and was born in Greenville, MI. I decided to join the United States Navy as soon as I could. After boot camp, i went to my A-School, where I learned my job as a Hospital Corpsman. Later, I got stationed in Pensacola, FL to work and the Naval Hospital. This is actually where I met my wife.

My only fear about this raw diet is my being in the military. Many people know that one of the best known things in the military is deployment. Going from a raw diet to MRE's is going to be hard on my system, but I think it will be well worth it. I look forward to meeting/talking to many of you and I'm sure I'll need you all for great advice. Thank you!

    Hello,

Welcome to the forum. There's loads of info here about many aspects of raw. Lots of blogging too. Have a rummage round and see what takes your fancy!

    Hi Joshua,
I'm Gabby. I have lived in P'cola for almost 11 years now. I'm originally from Germany and met my husband over there. He was in the Army. Not a healthy way of living. They tell you what shots they'll give you ( they don't give you a choice!-that's actually what got my husband sick, permanently). They will tell you what to do, when to do it and where to do it and what to think. Our lives do not only consist of eating naturally but also of living natural live styles (as much as we're able to now a days) and serving the mitary is extremely unnatural. Sometimes we have to review our lives and change our paths in order to be happy and healthy.
I just recently started eating raw. I've been familiar with it. My two sisters have been vegetarian and vegan for many years. But I have just recently realized the real benefits of eating raw. My husband is not too crazy about it. But every time he sticks to the raw food diet for a few days his illness gets a lot better.
Now, when you get deployed, remember in every country there are tons of edible weeds and fruits and seeds and nuts everywhere. Just research the area you get deployed to and try to use all the resources you can. Good luck! And good health!

Welcome Joshua, First of all I want to THANK YOU FOR SERVING OUR COUNTRY. I am really thankful for you and what you do. ( I was a TM many years ago)

Yes you might have a tough go of it. If your on deployment Im sure your lovely wife can send you care packages. There are also store bought goodies like granola, crackers, and chips. If I remember even if we had MRE's there were always Banannas, apples, oranges, and sometimes grapes. Now I even see freeze dried fruits Funkey Monkey. You would have to buy a case or so. I salute you shipmate.
