Many moons ago ... 15 years maybe ... my sister turned to me and asked "George, do you think we'll ever be slim." The question came out of the blue and my answer was "not unless we learn to accept ourselves as we are." That was the sum of the conversation and looking back on it now it does seem to have been something I should have paid more heed to.

Mystic, that is such a valuable revelation.

    2 weeks mark
Good day for me too. I feel like I have a lot of emotional crying to do, simply out of detox. and so much stifling throughout my life from when I didn't know how to express. I am actually excited because I've been waiting for the moment in the detox when I feel I have to cry all day for reasons of the past, I know tomorrow I'm going to feel a lot lighter for it.

    B: 1 large apple, 1 peach, 2 bananas
L: Salad, which wasn't good. I put everything I had left lying around in a bowl and called it a salad. It was all parsley lol
    D: Some strawberries.

I feel like I should have eaten more greens, so I'll stuff a green juice in there before bed just to make sure I detox during sleep faster....
Today I discovered the joys of exercise when you're raw. I feel way more nimble. I can actually stand while biking now, which I never had the lower strength to do. And it feels REALLY good to exercise, which is very cool. I played some tennis, biked a bit and of course, lifted my groceries, which is always a great workout.

    lol @ the parsley.

Have you tired sprouting buckwheat and/or quinoa to make a sort of tabbouleh? Works very well with parsley

Mystic - I was literally just about to suggest that. I luuurve Tabouleh!

Yesterday was good for me as well
B: Green smoothie with some romaine, suluk (very bitter dark green, not sure what it's called in English but didn't taste too great), bananas and a couple of dates +flaxseed and spirulina
S: Bunch of green grapes, then some of JM's Super Detox Juice
L: Tabouleh topped with chopped pine nuts, Green salad with red peppers and mushrooms in a sweet onion balsamic dressing, + hummus (semi-raw)
    S: Nakd bar
D: Some leftover salad from lunch and a couple chunks of pineapple

Explaining raw to my mom has been tough because she's concerned about my weight and nutrition, but she's slowly warming up to it. I shared my Juice and salads with her (which she gobbled up in a second ) and even convinced her to go semi-raw so this morning made her some of my green smoothie of bananas, mangoes, romaine, wheatgrass, flaxseed and shelled hemp. Hopefully we'll get some fresh spinach in today and I can really start wow-ing her with the green monsters Happy rawking everyone, plus happy 2-week mark for most!

Dani - I can't see your pictures! Could you re-post? Really want to see what the teriyaki looks like :) Also what do you use for your noodles, I bought some Kombu yesterday and have no clue how to use it.

My mother is great ... but at work I notice that as I lose weight some of the women are starting to say things like - you must take care of yourself. I think what they mean is "I am starting to feel threatened by your good health"

I tear it in small pieces and add it to salad dressings. It can get a bit addictive . . . at least for me.

Nad- I use kelp noodles. Some people consider them raw some don't. I have no problem with them but i love them! They taste like whatever you season them with and are super low and calories and good for you since kelp is considered some sort of super food because of the iodine. I really want a Saladacco so i can make noodles out of veggies but i hate ordering things online lol so one day i'll take the plunge.

As for your mom i had the same response with my mom and grandma. Mainly my grandma and she's so set in her ways she's not willing to try but if you check out my blog you'll see my mom is much more open and i'm super excited to see her transformation! It's all about the baby steps

today I made a tomato soup.. normally I am a soup hater, so I was surprised to find myself craving some. I had some sundried tomatoes in the fridge that had been soaking, so I threw them in the blender with some water, a fresh tomato, a few cashews to give it that creamy feel, some basil, some garlic, and a little bit of salt & pepper. Hubby and I were licking the bowls clean.. so easy and so good! That's what we had for dinner today. For lunch, we went to our local raw restaurant and had a raw enchilada, yum.

Kelp noodles and sea spaghetti, oo i've wanted to try both of those. I'm guessing they both don't taste like much? I hear sea spaghetti has kind of a crunch to it, it sure sounds interesting.

Nad, that is soo great that you're mom is going along with it and even trying some of your recipes!! You're already beginning to spark the interest of others, way to go! I think any mother would be a bit concerned when their child goes on a seemingly 'extreme' diet. It just rings alarm bells that scream disordered to them. Yours seems to be taking it pretty well though

So uhm, day 15. That's half way to 30 :) I started one day late. Today I didn't feel good or bad, just sort of in between. When it hit about 7 o'clock I started feeling very weak with a slight feeling of having a fever and the meal I had eaten an hour ago was threatening to come up. It felt like my stomach didn't have the energy to digest it, it's still detox that's for sure. Part of me enjoys all the detox immensely and part of me is just tired of it. I start work on Monday, and I'm starting to worry that my detoxification is not near over.

Hmmm.. so far the only thing that i'm finding to be concerning is the insomnia. Will it keep going like this on this diet? Could it be detox as well? I sure hope it is. Any advice on insomnia?

    B: Arugula romaine strawberry salad
L: 14 ish large figs (Yum!)
    D: Banana peach kale smoothie

sea spaghetti is the closet thing to "real pasta" that I have tried. I love it. I too would like a spiraliser but have to make do with a vegetable peeler for my courgettes.

Starting the day with a fresh juice of carrot, apple, celery and lemon. About 3/4 of an imperial pint (about a 1/5 more than the Queen Anne pint used in the US)

The celery helps me drink it slower! The more green it has in it (and celery is only just green imo) the slower I drink it and the less volume I want.
