Day 13 has been long but I'm finally HOME in the tiny little island of Bahrain (typing this from the comfort of my bed), and I managed to make my first raw flight a success! I'll blog about it later but here's what I had today:
B: Green smoothie with an apple and cinnamon + some agave and spirulina - wasn't very nice but I was down to my leftovers and had to use them up.
S: Banana + Innocent Smoothie
L: Small green salad with cut up pineapple, seasoned with salt and pepper (definitely had to improvise) + 2 small slices of watermelon and sweet melon
S: Pecan Pie Nakd bar
S (before landing): Fruit salad that I bought from Pret at the airport
D: Dined out with my mommy, had a rucola salad with sundried tomatoes, raw mushrooms and a mustard seed dressing. Not sure how raw the dressing was but tasted nice and light.
Then had some almonds and raisins when I got home! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be, but next time I'm going to try and buy a regular salad before I board, I had waay to much fruit today. Won't expect any sugar cravings for a while lol.
I'm still feeling apprehensive about being home and trying to explain/justify being raw to all my friends and family but I think I'll just take it one day at a time. I was also planning on doing my juice fast/detox within the next few days but I might wait and see how I get situated before I start to reduce the risk of failure.

MrzWilliamz - welcome to the forum and the challenge! Sorry to hear you've been through a rough time with the passing of your friend, but glad to see you're embracing the transition to raw. Taking your health into your own hands is the best thing you can do for yourself and going raw is a great way to start :)
Dani + Dearwanderlust - that teriyaki stir fry recipe sounds a-mazing. Will definitely be on the hunt for some sort of kelp noodles when I get my mom to take me to the new health store here!

Welcome MrzWilliamz! I am glad you have found this community, and I hope you will be too. Everyone here is so supportive.
Today has been pretty awesome. I had to go to my mom's office to help with her finances, so I left super early and picked up a fruit salad at Starbucks. It was sooo sweet! I couldn't wait to get home and make a smoothie with the kale we bought yesterday. I only just got a Vitamix so I was really excited to see what it could do.
It was kind of gross but the kale was completely ground up. I could definitely taste the bitterness of the kale and the unripeness of the banana, but I loaded it up with blueberries to try and disguise the taste. Not my favorite, but I might try to alternate kale/spinach in my smoothies from now on. Really, really full though, so that's good.
I bought some more watermelon at the shop today and that's what I'm having for dinner. This guy keeps trying to get me to come to his house and barbecue, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out non-food dates lol. The other day we went hiking, and that was amazing! I feel really great.
It's so easy being green :p

Wow last night I had an intense detox session. My head was pounding and my mind was going into crazy panic mode, I also had tunnel vision and insomnia. But after waking up, drinking my half gallon of water and having a green smoothie, oh wow a beautiful burst of pure beautiful euphoria!! I LOVE detox! I LOVE knowing that each little symptom is leaving me once and for all! And then waking up to a little piece of the result. I'm lovin' the journey!
I feel myself going into another detox like last night, and I don't expect to sleep much again. I just hope that when I go back to work on the 16th, I can handle it, because detox suddenly is hitting me harder.
I ate all day today hehe...
B: Peach banana kale smoothie
L: Arugula romaine cucumber celery cherry salad! Mmm! Cherries in salad taste like vinaigrette. This salad was ENORMOUS... 2 heads of romaine and 1 bunch of arugula, plus 1 whole big cucumber, 2 stalks of celery and like a pound of cherries.
D: Half of a watermelon and the rest of the salad
S: Green juice
I ate so much today, I'm stuffed!! But in a really good way :) Not in a guilty way. I feel so hopeful. I'm finally on the right track to defeating my depression. Thanks rawfoodtalk

EscapeArtist - sorry to hear you're going through such a rough detox, but it's great that you have such a positive attitude towards it. It must feel so good! Also your salad with cherries sounds divine - I'm going to try and replicate at some point
I'm a bit concerned because I don't think I experienced much of an initial detox (slight cold/flu/runny nose) but now my digestion has been off for a couple of days so I think maybe this could be the second wave?
Today I've had a small slice of sweet melon, and then a while later I felt VERY nauseous but wasn't sick. Drank lots of water and just a little bit ago had an apple. Going to try and keep things light today as don't want to upset my stomach any more. I'm wondering if it was just the fruit heavy day yesterday? Hmm...

Ah so jealous you have a vita! For smoothies you might want to try half spinach half kale - that plus a quarter cucumber is my go to green smoothie base and I find it works well with most fruit combos. I also recommend freezing some of your fruit/leaves, the texture and taste is so much better when it's nice and icy! Just curious as to where you bought your vitamix from as I see you're in the UK as well?

Very quiet on the forum at the moment ... still rawking here though. Just had avo, tomatoes and watercress for lunch. No dressing and it was still very good. I guess if I have avo I don't need dressing!
-
that sounds like an awesome lunch, Mystic! I am loving the avos right now as well. I am thinking of making a corn and avo salad for my lunch today. :-)

I actually need to change my profile Was in London for 5 years until April, and now I'm back in the States. Pretty sure I found a few VMs on craigslist or gumtree when I was there, though. London in the spring and summer is so perfect for being raw! It makes you just want to sit around in the park eating fruit all day... I really miss it.

Okay, I'm actually starving now thinking about such a tasty salad! Will have to make a smoothie ASAP. Have a watermelon waiting for me in the fridge that I can't wait to eat later too.

Nad I too haven't experienced any major detox symptoms like Escape artist and honestly i'm a bit jealous lol as i'm ready for my body to finally detox and get rid of the bad stuff to make way for the good and optimum health. I think our main difference is we don't eat as simply as Escape artist. We're always experimenting with new recipes and what not which of course is fine since we want to know what variety raw foods has to offer but i think once we go simple like green smoothies maybe a salad and more green smoothies we'd start to experience full detox.
This is what i plan to do for the next month is 2 weeks of only green smoothies on the 3rd week start introducing my salad back in and on my fourth week adding in a dinner meal like a melon or a fruit salad. I think will be a nice cleanse and the initial two weeks will really give my body time to go into full detox mode.
I watched Fat,Sick, and Nearly Dead last night along with Food matters and they really inspired me to just go for it!
Going to buy a new blender today!!!

just cos you don't feel it doesn't mean you aren't healing.

I know that but i've also read that the more complex you are eating the slower the detox the more simple you eat the faster the detox. I know my eating is all over the place so i'm sure i'm detoxing but just not as quickly. I don't have body odor anymore!! So i know that's a good sign and i've had a few bad days with bloating/swelling, acne rashes, and severe allergy symptoms which i assume are signs of detox. I'm ready to release as much toxins as i can before school so i can gain clarity, focus, and have better sleep and energy for my long busy days :)
