Todays lunch (all eaten raw of course)
* sprouted adzuki beans
* sprouted alfalfa
* sprouted lentils
* kelp
* green algae
Here are the adzuki beans:

Here some of the lentils (l ate the rest before the photo was taken)

Here is some of the alfalfa left. l usually have a HUGE container full that would fill 3 big dinner plates heaped up high.

Hey Mr. Raw (or anyone else), do you have any of your own sprout dish recipes, or know of any raw food chefs that use sprouts? Thanks!
-
lt's important to sprout in the dark until the last day (lentils/beans) or last 1 - 2 days with alfalfa and other sproutable greens because it ensures they remain crisp, juicey and delicious. Growing sprouts in full time daylight always make them touch and fiberous. When you do need to give them some sunlight (in the final day or two of growth), put them in indirect sunlight, never directly under the sun. Sprouts are similar to fruit, but have the substance of beans and protein rich foods, that's there beauty among many other great things. A really important thing about sprouts is that they have easily eatable digestable fiber, where-as vegies have fiber which is too chewy because they are a less natural plant (many vegies are derivatives of grass seeds apparently, but developed un-natural unhealthy characteristics by ancient man sprouting the seeds in un-natural conditions.

l am only calling in to post in this thread on the odd occasion if l feel the need. l may post in this thread again or l may not, but l know l can never be a regular member here again. l have joined another raw food forum and l am enjoying the vibe a whole lot more. Nothing wrong with here because we all like different things, l just never felt comfortable with the vibe of the forum: being a sproutarian l am very sensitive to the vibrations l pick up. Even from the first post l ever made, l knew l was making a mistake by posting here. Good wishes to you all, l hope you all get out of this forum what you are seeking.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a post l made on the other forum. lt might be of interest to you all:
"lt's a pity that druggies have ruined it for raw food doods like us. Poppy seed sprouts are the best source of Calcium and Zinc, and Marijuana seed sprout are the second best source of omega 3 and one of the greatest seeds ever on earth for nutrition.
lt's really hard to get good omega 3 from the diet because it is hard to absorb, so it means that making the essential EPA fatty acid is very difficult for us also. The key is to make it as easy as possible for us to absorb it, so we need to do three major things.
1: Consume a sprouted diet because it is the highest in protein (pre digested), pyroxidine (vitamin B6), biotin (B7), calcium, copper, magnesium and zinc when done properly.
2). Eat chia seed sprouts (highest source of omega 3 on earth) and flax seed sprouts (third highest source of omega 3 on earth, + the fats are converted into fatty acids).
3). Get the ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 in good balance. Some say 1 part omega 3 - 3 or 4 parts omega 6.
l imagine thats why many vegans have had problems with their diets in the long term over history. l lmagine that Joyce doesn't have problems because she sprouts most of her foods, eats weeds (purslane is the highest found source of (EPA) and she has sea vegetables. The sproutarian diet covers everything in the most abundant, safest and best possible way.
Here is something you don't see many pictures of, sprouted chia seeds

Sprouted flax seeds

l will post some pics of corn shoot greens another day.
Ann Wigmore has always been my greatest inspiration. One of the most amazing women ever. She first showed the world how to do raw foods properly and embrace it and actually thrive on a raw vegan diet. Dr Ann only used to sleep 2 - 3 hours a night in her late 70's and 80's and she had the energy of a child. She said "now at 79 my life is just beginning". She ate lots of weeds, ate the grasses and did enemas twice a day everyday for decades...not just enemas, but 2.5 foot enemas.
See from 1:58 a short video of Ann Wigmore. And look how great she looked as an old lady at 4:13.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF5Uo...eature=related
And here is one of Ann Wigmore's students, the legendary Joyce Oliveto. She is in her late 60's and was once very sick , but look at her amazing skin! No wrinkles! She lives the Ann Wigmore lifestyle and could run up hills in middle age without being puffed. l think she is one of the few raw fooders who actually stay raw and are the real deal and feel better the older they get. How many raw food vegans glow like that after almost 3 decades??
This link is the first part of four links. lf you appreciate what a hard core boring diet can do and love Dr Ann, you will love this youtube link. This is not supposed to be a trendy way and cool way of eating, but this is where it is really at.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wroj0kPw_TQ
Dr Ann fixed people of cancer and AIDS, ans she was such a threat that the pharmaceutical industry took her to court and smashed her publication business and ordered her to destroy all her health books.
lf you aren't eating the fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds straight from the trees/plants, it makes it very hard to thrive on a raw food diet because the electromagnetic energy just isn't in the food anymore (this is scientifically tested by the highly regarded Dr Valerie Hunt), and the enzymes and other nutrients quickly disappear too. Dr Brian has done thousands of tests (proper tests) to prove this. That's why the best way of raw eating is sprouting; not only is the enymes and electromagnetic energy still in the food to the highest level, but the sprouts have been proven by a top scientist to be between 10 - 30 times as nutritious as the best fresh picked vegetables. Eating on a raw diet of fruit and vegies and nuts/seeds straight from the garden is possibly sustainable, but the practise is very iffy in a modern world, and most raw foodies end up bombing out because they become too deficient in nutrients. lf Hippocrates followers (most nutritious diet in the world) occasionally come up deficient in certain nutrients due to stress and pollution, then what hope do the rest of the people on other diets have?? And no, it is not as simple as getting simple blood work done, not all testing works best that way according to Dr Brian. Raw should never be a struggle, people should be thriving and growing younger as they get older. Dr Ann grew younger, Joyce grew younger, and so am l.
l used to take 4 steps and almost keel over gasping for breath. Now l can walk fast up steep hills with my mouth shut and not be puffed at all. l almost float up hills. No hanting and panting what-so-ever.
-------------------------------------
To the poster above, no l do not have recipes for my sprouts. l try to see food as my fuel and try raising myself above the pleasure of it all. The sproutarian diet has raised me to an amazing level of consciousness and level of well being. l am getting strong and stronger by the day and l am on cloud 9 all day everyday. l never knew such joy was possible. l feel like a super machine now on this diet and l am going to promote it to the world.
l have reached my youth again and have the energy and enthusiasm and excitement of a child again. l am middle aged, yet people say l can pass for my late 20's...all because of this AMAZING sproutarian diet. Life is so good that l have to pinch myself. l don't need anything anymore, l have everything within myself.

How hard is it to sprout flax? I would like to sprout them, and I know how, but I am afraid that it will attract pests in my house (like fruit flies). Do they?

grow them on a bit of baby blanket in a well ventilated area and you'll be just fine :)

you're welcome. my father was a great grower of sprouts so I have been growing them for about 35 years. He may have been into fad diets but some of them had positive aspects. Lots of people seem dauted by sprouting but it really is as easy as falling off a log. Nothing mystifying or complicated about it. That it is a fabulously cheap way to get some raw food is all bonus!

Here is sprouted chia seed grass in all its beautiful glory. l made it look all pretty for the photo session. Beautiful and spongy like a prized front lawn. lt's easy to maintain but the cloth it is grown on is very tricky to get clean. lt needs to be sprayed with a fine spray twice a day otherwise it goes all hard and is ruined. Takes 30 seconds a day at most to maintain.

The easiest and quickest sprout of them all to maintain is actually flax. Flax seeds can grow up to 6 inches long after only 1 week and have 3 inch roots.

Wow! So much of this information is not covered in Alissa's book! I had no idea I should sprout in the dark! I was going to just set everything up in my kitchen! She also says you can sprout in a bowl with paper towels to cover.
I have also seen canning jars used. That might actually be better for me as I have a small kitchen and not enough bowls! This is a great thread! Wish they'd make it a sticky until I need it!
Thanks for such great information! I will certainly check out the books, too!

You sprout in the dark to maximise the juice and softness factor in sprouts. Water is naturally drawn away from things when there is lots of sunlight (that's science), so keeping in the dark until the last day or two (depends on the sprout and the waether conditions) will make the sprouts the softest and juiciest they can possibly be. This is very important for mung and adzuki.

Very soon l will make a post on fool proof sprouting methods. The first recommendation l am going to make is to completely disregard all the information the sprouting companies have ever told you about sprouting because they have no clue. The sprouting trays and methods they recommend can cause major problems for multi deck sprouting. l will fully explain the problems with the traditional sprouting ways, and then l will explain how they can overcome. Much of the sprouting equipment contributes to bad sprouting results because it is poorly designed.

Gorgeous food photos! I feel the need to sprout! Thank you for sharing such amazing detailed info! :)

incredible. This is the way to thrive on raw food.
So what is the best book on sprouting, for beginners, or any level?
I want to focus on sprouting greens, and microgreens.

By far the best way for the modern age.

Try `The Sprouting Book' by Ann Wigmore. Nice and simple.
For more advanced sprouting and to really feel the love for sprouting by one of the best sprouters on the planet try `Sprouts - the miracle food' by Steve Meyerowitz
Also get the raw food lifestyle bible `Survival into the 12st century' by the legendary Victoras Kulvinskas (that book changed my life). Vik is a true blue raw foodie and has used sprouts and grasses as an important part of his diet along with algae for decades. His contributions to raw foodism are amazing and he was once co-director with Dr Ann Wigmore at Hippocrates Health lnstitute for several years. He knows ALOT!!!
Also get `sprout for the love of everybody' by Viktoras Kulvinskas'. (it's a cool little book).
l would be getting at least the first three books.
