Why not make it easy and try the following:

    * sprout fenugreek in a 3 - 4 gallon glass jar twice a week
    * sprout alfalfa and or clover in 3 - 4 gallon jar twice a week.

This would mean roughly 32 - 45oz of juice from each glass jar.

Then you plant a tray of wheatgrass each second day for 100 ml of juice a day (more would be better, but this is still good)
Then you plant a tray of sunflower greens and pea shoots each day also.

lt's not that hard to do.

Not yet, but l am planning it to happen very soon. l am hoping to by the end of the month along with doing a good fiber cleanse and taking pro-biotics. Then if all goes well l would like to introduce the enemas and implants in Oct or Nov and extend the juice period to three months. The implants will use lots of juice so l plan to do the bucket system of sprouting to give me enough juice and to save time.

Do sprouts contain hormones? Generally we don't want hormones in our food. We want our bodies to be in control of producing the right hormones in perfect balance.the thing about hybrids is that the result off the cross pollination includes an enormous range of tastes, habits, hardiness etc. If the sweetest fruit bearing plant is not hardy enough to survive the climate then the sweetest fruit bearing plant that can survive will be the winner. Sour crosses are produced all the time. They are discarded by the fruit growers and eaten only in times of extreme hardship by the animals. All animals like sweetness.

Sprouts contain lots of female and male hormones, but l wouldn't worry, l haven't started growing breasts and people like Ann Wigmore never developed a deep manly voice. lt's all good, males and females need the female and male hormones for proper balance, and what sprouts do is top up the supplies we lose when we age. No-one seems to have any bad effects from comsuming too many hormones from well chosen sprouts, so it makes me think that the body will not use what hormones are provided in excess from the sprouts. l like to think of hormones as similar to enzymes...we need constant `top ups' as we age to keep things balanced in the body and mind. Nature gave us hormones in raw vegan plant food so we can use this as a `top up' because nature knew we had free will and would do dumb things like cook our food. Hormones keep the brain cells communicating with each other, but when we run low of hormones things start falling apart for us quite quickly.

Becoming a sprout farmer is good because it teaches us to be responsible again and brings us back to nature and back to humble old living once forgotten by us. lt gets us closer to being one with nature and makes us contemplete many things because our minds get so sharp from being so well fed. No putting work off to another day, it makes one get responsible and get his priorities right and get the work done and also gives the person more control over his food supply. lt goes contrary to globalisation, monopolies, and mass food production for slaves...it snubs it's nose at all the trends ruining the slaves in the world and it empowers them to dare to be free again. The work behind sprouting is greatly rewarded in so many ways, but most importantly it gives us potential freedom and lots of hope for the future. lf l have to do all this hard work to be a full time sproutarian, so be it....that's life....my great grandfather worked hard every day in his garden and lived a simple and happy strong life until his 90's, so why shouldn't l be the same??? Do l wanna each fried chips and watch the t.v each night on the couch for 4 hours and be negative and lazy [like most people], or do l want to go back to the old days where they worked hard, read hard, were closer to nature and be strong and fit and enjoy the most simple things? Being a farmer isn't so bad...we have always done it as humans, so why are we now so scared of some hard work early in the morning and late at night...get over it...time to do what we always did for many generations before, grow our own food, be strong and become people persons again. lt's makes you simplify your life, and when you get rid of all the junk in your life things begin to run smoothly. Materialism is only there to distract us from what is really going, and also to enslave us to work until we are almost dead, but it doesn't have to be that way...we can leave the matrix whenever we choose.

    All animals like sweetness.
Something to really think about. That is a very important point, but l still think there might be more to it than that.

I don't think hormones work that way.

Please, forgive me for asking something that was probably discussed already, but the thread is so long... I want to buy trays asap but do not know which trays to go with because they are different for water growing and for soil growing.

If somebody just can tell me shortly, what the difference between growing sprouts on soil and on water. I've just read a document about various studies made on sprouts and their nutritional value and I got an impression that growing on water is way better.

    Thanks in advance!

I get the feeling it's cleaner and therefore much more suited for commercial set ups. I cannot see how it could be worse nutritionally.

Just buy trays that are a couple inches deep so that the plants have room to develop good root systems if you are going to grow sprouts on soil, otherwise you can just grow most sprouts in jars. The instructions on how to do that are on the first page of this thread.

Growing sprouts in soil is actually better, because the sprouts can pick up nutrients from the soil, despite the fact that many people say otherwise. I can feel a slight difference between eating soil-less sprouts and sprouts grown in soil, too - the ones grown with soil are always better. This is especially true for sunflower greens, they seem to be able to pick up even more nutrients from the soil then other microgreens. So you should grow them on soil.

Thank you so much for answering. You hit all the points I was wondering about.

I'm already sprouting in jars. But I also want to have some microgreens after reading Steve Meyerowitz's book and also my husband does not feel good after eating sprouts from a jar. So I thought to go with microgreens now. My confusion was because of what it says in the book and what Mr. Raw teaches here. But I understand now and I'm going to go with soil, at least for now.

    Thank you!

lf you are more game, start eating the alfalfa only everyday for two weeks. lt will change your taste buds to more hardcore foods and you will be able to eat them much much easier after a very short time. The first week is the hardest, but it gets easier and easier as time goes on. l did it, and l know you can do it too. Stay strong, you can do this.
It has to be a manual juicer for sprouts yeah? I'll get a cheap one when I get my deposit from my flat back (if I ever do...). I think I can probably stomach the juice more than the sprouts themselves.
I wouldn't want to try only eating alfalfa until I can get a good source of sprouts. When I have more income and can buy them online I'd be more willing to try.

Slightly off topic... but what's the best way to consume spirulina? I have a packet of it. Could I just add it to sprout juices and gulp it down killing two birds with one stone?

^ Actually I think I had it in orange juice before and liked it! I'd forgotten about that. Thanks!

There's probably a healthier way of doing it but that's a good start for me.

pansylo, I'm hoping to start buying organic seeds in bulk. I will let you know when I get some good seed as I can always send you some. I want to start selling sprouting seeds but not at the silly prices they are in the shops but I have a lot of research to do yet.

You could add it to the juices, but in my experience it needs a lot of stirring to mix properly, and that would oxidize the juice. I used to mainly add it to sprout smoothies, but I'm not making those as much anymore and so just mix it into a glass of water. The taste took a little getting used to at first, but after a couple weeks my taste buds changed and now I really like the taste (kind of like chocolate milk I imagine).

Just like with sprouts, the trick is to eat/drink it plain even if you don't like the taste, and after a couple weeks your taste buds will change and you will start to enjoy it, then you'll never have to dilute it with fruit juices and decrease the benefits you get from it.

I don't really see why drinking it with other things negates the value of green juices. I drink mine neat but can't see why other juices would make the nutrition of the green juice less.
